One Night For The Mafia Chapter 1 001

A strong hand with visible veins gently stroked the thigh of a girl in a red dress sitting on his lap, his other hand touching her red, sensually toned lips.

The handsome man known as a symbol of masculinity among upper-class women was currently playing with a girl accompanying him tonight.

The girl's face was partially covered by a party mask, but he could see the beauty of her illuminated eyes, her blue eyes glistening like sapphires.

"Beautiful eyes," the man's lips unconsciously murmured, praising the beauty he had never seen before from any woman, despite traveling the world and seeing the same sapphire color.

"Thank you," the girl replied softly.

She tried to be polite and calm as much as possible... even though she felt pressured, being close to him felt like sensing an impending danger. Behind her mask, she knew that the man with the perfect face sculpture would not let her go once he knew who she really was.

The girl's hands were stiff as she resisted the warm touch of the man. She had never been in such close proximity before. Not even with the man she loved. She wanted to jump from his lap, but she realized she had to keep composed as she was working on a task.

The man's dark, heavy gaze focused on the alluring lips clung to his mind. The dark and intense aura dominated, captivating the girl into the sensations the man created.

As the darkness felt closer, the man's face neared her, causing the girl to clench his arm, her heart beating faster. She could sense the man's breath, the scent of wine mixed with his unique masculine fragrance.

"May I remove your mask?" he whispered right in front of the girl's face, his hand even raised to take off the object. Selena widened her eyes in surprise, then quickly shook her head.

A few moments before that,

"Sorry, isn't there any other job available? I'm willing to work at this bar and even do overtime every night, but give me a job that doesn't require me to do that," a girl with her hair tied back said to Madame Madeline, the woman she had just met in the bar that evening. The woman had just made her a job offer with an enticing but intimidating salary.

Selena Elisabeth Cartwright, a 21-year-old girl, came with a worn-out look and a pleading gaze. She urgently needed a hundred million to replace the pendant she had lost; the owner of the pendant accused her of theft when she was asked to bring a bag containing the newly purchased pendant. Unfortunately, when the owner-her cousin-opened the bag, the pendant was missing without a trace.

The accusing glare filled with curses from her sister was immediately directed at Selena, even though she had spoken honestly, nothing could make Claire's anger and hatred disappear. Since her father had taken in the unfortunate girl, Claire had deeply despised Selena.

Her self-worth seemed to plummet in Jonathan Thompson's eyes-Claire's father, the man who had raised her since she was 10 years old. He gazed with a hesitant sparkle, as if he couldn't believe that the innocent and kind girl he knew could do all this.

Therefore, Selena was determined to get the one hundred million worth of that pendant tonight as well. Even though she was not guilty, she wanted to show her sense of responsibility. And show Jonathan, so that his trust in her would return.

"Can you clean up?" Madame Madeline's voice broke the silence.

She continued to inspect the girl's appearance from head to toe, looking at the girl in a dingy t-shirt with a pungent smell of dust, as if her well-kept figure was hidden behind that t-shirt, to others, she did not look attractive at all.

Madame Madeline smirked thinly because anyone who wanted to work here must have an attractive appearance. According to Madame Madeline, Selena wasn't much more attractive than the bar cashier, who was worn-out and sexy. So what did Selena need to do to get that much money?

Selena looked at the woman's doubt towards her, then smiled sincerely, a smile that was so genuine, then nodded. In her heart, she cheered, 'yes, I can! I have to be able!'

Her determination was firm. Moreover, before coming here, she had just finished work somewhere else and hadn't had time to clean up. Then she hurriedly went to this place.

The corners of Madame Madeline's lips were drawn into a smile again. Selena's courage and determination earned her extra appreciation.

"I'll wait for you tonight at Dandelion Night Bar. You will be a waitress for one night," the woman whispered.

"There will be a new guest arriving in the city who will stop by here. Make sure you serve all his wishes well. You won't be doing it for him, but be friendly and polite because the young man is known to be cruel, merciless, and he won't hesitate to kill anyone who makes a mistake for him. He needs a woman to accompany him for the night. Seeing your polite demeanor, I believe you can do it."

"He will give you a hundred million after you successfully accompany him."

Selena was startled, her sapphire blue eyes widened. Working in this place was apparently not as easy as she had imagined. Was the man as ruthless as Madame Madeline described? She thought there were many young women far more beautiful and sexy than her in this place, so why did Madame Madeline ask her to serve the man? Did that mean there were no other women meeting Madame Madeline's criteria?

So, she had to risk her life to do this job. And she was not even sure if she could handle all of this.

If she made a mistake deemed fatal by the man, it would mean she would receive nothing in return, and even her own life would be threatened.

Selena took a deep breath, reciting a prayer and firming her resolve.

Remembering the cheers of ridicule and all the insults she had received in the past, her spirit was fueled. Although she was cared for by the Thompson family who were not ordinary people, she never relied on their kindness. Selena always tried to stand on her own, working all day as a waitress at the restaurant, and on weekends, she usually helped as a servant at the Davidson family's home. Her delicate hands were trained to hold a wide copper tray to host the Davidson family's esteemed guests.

So how ruthless was this guest? She had endured bitterness in her life since childhood.

Lost in thought for a while, Selena nodded again. "I am willing to be a waitress for one night for that guest."

"Good job!"

"You should feel lucky, Selena, because many women are clamoring to serve him. But I choose you because I don't believe they will act as professionally as you will. If they make the guest uncomfortable, it will only tarnish Dandelion Night Bar's reputation."

To be considered lucky? What made them proud to serve him? Was he a famous artist? A wealthy entrepreneur?

Ah, but it seemed all of that was true, or why else would they be eager to approach such a terrifying man?

Selena could only guess that the man was very demanding and everything had to be according to his wishes. But she didn't need to think further; what mattered now was that she could earn that much money and keep it from everyone.

"It's an honor to receive all of this from Madame," the girl said with a sweet smile.

Madame Madeline smiled even wider than before, her slender fingers with long, red-painted nails reaching for a glass of wine.

Meanwhile, elsewhere, a man had just stepped out of his private jet. That evening, Mexico welcomed him with a dim light as the sky was almost dark. The lights around the airport shone like stars twinkling on earth.

A group of men dressed in all black greeted him as they escorted their Master into a car.

He had just returned to his homeland after several years of missions and work overseas.

Moreover, he returned upon hearing there would be a meeting at his family's home to discuss important matters.

Her father had asked her to come home, but she was reluctant to set foot in that house again. For it would only bring about anger and resentment every time she looked at the corners of the house-a childhood home that didn't feel like home.

"Do not inform my father that I have arrived yet!" Leonardo commanded his driver.

"Yes, Sir!"

The man beside him nodded obediently, as if knowing where they needed to go. The car immediately made its way down the highway without further questioning.

Leonardo was his name. He was born and raised in the wealthy Davidson family, although there was a well-known scandal that had become public consumption when his father returned with another son from a woman who was his mother's assistant.

A thin smile crept from his lips as he remembered the bleakness of his past, but after the car stopped in front of a bar, he forgot everything once again. Because tonight was a time for enjoyment.

Samuel opened the car door for him, as he wore his sunglasses.

He walked to the front of his entourage, entering the four-story building. Anyone who saw them was stunned, especially the leader who captured all the attention; the atmosphere of the place immediately felt different, quiet and eerie.

While the man's handsome appearance was the most compelling, the dark aura he exuded made everyone lower their heads again.

He headed straight to the reception desk, showing his membership card after making an online reservation the previous night.

"Show me where my room is tonight!"

"Alright, Sir. Please follow me, I will escort you to your room."

The young woman guided Leonardo to his VIP room.

That same evening, after getting her dress, Selena returned to the famous Dandelion Night Bar in the heart of the city.

She stared at the door with the sign "open" and entered, for the first time not as a visitor but directly as a 'one-night waitress' for a guest staying there.

'You have to be able to do this, Selena! Remember what you need to buy, there is trust you need to regain.' her spirit whispered within.

The long red evening gown she wore swayed as it split with her steps, the high-slit gown wrapping her long legs, exuding an air of elegance and luxury that had never been seen on her before.

Selena received this evening gown from her friend, as she had never owned one. There was a slight nervousness she felt, gripping her own dress. She was scared as she imagined her guest later, she was also afraid that her work would not meet his expectations.

But the fear unknowingly made her arrive in front of the VIP room corridor she needed to visit. The anxiety intensified as she heard music and chatter from the open rooms.

As she was about to continue her steps, she saw several women approaching from the other direction, entering the corridor. Her beautiful eyes widened.

"That's Claire! I must not let her see me," Selena hurriedly looked for a hiding place, to avoid being recognized by her sister.

I thought I was waking up in the arms of Arthur, the man I loved. But as the morning light hit the Hamptons estate, the man buttoning his cuffs by the window turned around with eyes like chips of ice. It was Augustus Riddle, Arthur’s cruel younger brother, and I had just spent the night whispering confessions of love into the wrong man's ear. The night I thought was a beautiful beginning turned into a devastating nightmare. Instead of comfort, Gus treated me like a stain on his expensive carpet, scribbling a check for "services rendered" before shoving me into a dark service corridor to hide my existence from his brother. "How much does it cost to buy your silence?" He sneered, before leaving me barefoot in a torrential downpour while he drove away in a luxury Cadillac. Four years later, I am a struggling actress in Los Angeles, working double shifts as a barista just to keep the lights on. My life was finally stable until my roommate dragged me to a high-end dinner to meet her new "influential" boyfriend. The man sitting at the table, looking more arrogant and lethal than ever, was Augustus. He spent the entire night humiliating me, calling me a pathetic amateur and a social climber in front of my only friends. When I fled into the rain and collapsed on the sidewalk, skinning my knee until I bled, he watched from his car. He saw me clutching a plastic baggie containing the taped-together pieces of that four-year-old check—the only proof of my shame. He looked at me like roadkill, rolled up his window, and drove off into the dark. I couldn't understand why he was doing this. Why did he hate me enough to crush me, yet remember that I couldn't handle the smell of cigarette smoke? Why did he leave me bleeding in the street, only to send expensive medical supplies and coffee to my door the very next morning? "I'm moving out." I told my roommates, realizing that Gus Riddle didn't just want to destroy me; he wanted to haunt me. I grabbed my suitcase and walked out with eighty dollars to my name, finally ready to disappear into the city before he could burn the rest of my life to the ground.

I stood at my mother’s open grave in the freezing rain, my heels sinking into the mud. The space beside me was empty. My husband, Hilliard Holloway, had promised to cherish me in bad times, but apparently, burying my mother didn't fit into his busy schedule. While the priest’s voice droned on, a news alert lit up my phone. It was a livestream of the Metropolitan Charity Gala. There was Hilliard, looking impeccable in a custom tuxedo, with his ex-girlfriend Charla English draped over his arm. The headline read: "Holloway & English: A Power Couple Reunited?" When he finally returned to our penthouse at 2 AM, he didn't come alone—he brought Charla with him. He claimed she’d had a "medical emergency" at the gala and couldn't be left alone. I found a Tiffany diamond necklace on our coffee table meant for her birthday, and a smudge of her signature red lipstick on his collar. When I confronted him, he simply told me to stop being "hysterical" and "acting like a child." He had no idea I was seven months pregnant with his child. He thought so little of my grief that he didn't even bother to craft a convincing lie, laughing with his mistress in our home while I sat in the dark with a shattered heart and a secret life growing inside me. "He doesn't deserve us," I whispered to the darkness. I didn't scream or beg. I simply left a folder on his desk containing signed divorce papers and a forged medical report for a terminated pregnancy. I disappeared into the night, letting him believe he had successfully killed his own legacy through his neglect. Five years later, Hilliard walked into "The Vault," the city's most exclusive underground auction, looking for a broker to manage his estate. He didn't recognize me behind my Venetian mask, but he couldn't ignore the neon pink graffiti on his armored Maybach that read "DEADBEAT." He had no clue that the three brilliant triplets currently hacking his security system were the very children he thought had been erased years ago. This time, I wasn't just a wife in the way; I was the one holding all the cards.

The rain in Detroit was slick with grime when my family finally came to fetch me. They didn't want a reunion; they wanted a sacrificial lamb to marry into the Kaufman empire to save their failing business. I thought I was just being sold off, but the limo ride ended under a dark overpass where six hired thugs were waiting with chains. My own sister had ordered them to "break my spirit" so I’d be a shaking, pathetic mess by the time I reached the altar. They called me "Detroit trash" and sprayed air freshener when I sat on their leather seats. My stepmother wanted a video of me begging for my life, and my father was ready to trade me like a used car to a man everyone called a "vegetable." They expected a submissive country girl, unaware that I was a high-level "cleaner" who could snap a radius bone before they could even scream. When I finally reached the Kaufman estate, I found my fiancé, Barron, slumped in a wheelchair, drooling and silent. But as soon as the doors closed, the "invalid" grabbed my wrist with a grip of iron and whispered a command that changed everything. I didn't understand why my own blood was so desperate to see me destroyed. What had I ever done to deserve a hit squad and a forced marriage to a man they thought was a corpse? But Barron isn't a vegetable, and I'm not a victim. We just touched down at the Moon family gala in a matte-black helicopter, and as the doors slide open, the "broken" bride is about to show them exactly what happens when you throw away the wrong daughter. "If we're going to crash a party," Barron whispered, his eyes burning with lethal clarity, "we should make an entrance."

The sterile white of the operating room blurred, then sharpened, as Skye Sterling felt the cold clawing its way up her body. The heart monitor flatlined, a steady, high-pitched whine announcing her end. Her uterus had been removed, a desperate attempt to stop the bleeding, but the blood wouldn't clot. It just kept flowing, warm and sticky, pooling beneath her. Through heavy eyes, she saw a trembling nurse holding a phone on speaker. "Mr. Kensington," the nurse's voice cracked, "your wife... she's critical." A pause, then a sweet, poisonous giggle. Seraphina Miller. "Liam is in the shower," Seraphina's voice purred. "Stop calling, Skye. It's pathetic. Faking a medical emergency on our anniversary? Even for you, that's low." Then, Liam's bored voice: "If she dies, call the funeral home. I have a meeting in the morning." Click. The line went dead. A second later, so did Skye. The darkness that followed was absolute, suffocating, a black ocean crushing her lungs. She screamed into the void, a silent, agonizing wail of regret for loving a man who saw her as a nuisance, for dying without ever truly living. Until she died, she didn't understand. Why was her life so tragically wasted? Why did her husband, the man she loved, abandon her so cruelly? The injustice of it all burned hotter than the fever in her body. Then, the air rushed back in. Skye gasped, her body convulsing violently on the mattress. Her eyes flew open, wide and terrified, staring blindly into the darkness. Her trembling hand reached for her phone. May 12th. Five years ago. She was back.
