Chapter 1 A dare to prove

"You're not gay, right, Julian?"

Doni's voice was flat, as if the question was no big deal. But to Julian, those words felt like a small explosion inside his chest. He turned his face away from his phone screen, raising an eyebrow and glaring at Doni in annoyance.

"What do you mean by that?" Julian growled, his voice trembling with suppressed anger.

Doni just shrugged, acting like it was nothing. "Well, in the ten years we've known you, not once have we seen you with a girl. Maybe you just don't like girls?" Doni threw a glance at Rian, their other friend, seeking agreement.

Rian, who had been quietly sipping his coffee, suddenly pretended to shiver in horror. "Whoa, maybe you really don't like girls, Julian," he said with a small laugh, though the laugh felt sharp.

"Damn". Julian clenched his fists under the table, trying to control the heat spreading through his chest. "I'm still normal, okay!" Julian snapped quickly, though his voice sounded more defensive than he had intended. "I can still get hard and turned on if I see a naked girl."

Doni chuckled briefly, as if Julian's statement was no more than a cheap joke. "It's easy to say that, Julian," he said, his tone dripping with mockery.

Julian felt his blood boiling. "Whatever, I don't care if you don't believe me," he answered curtly, though inside, he felt cornered.

Rian, who had been quiet all this time, suddenly leaned forward with a sly grin on his face. "How about this? Why don't we prove it? Let's go to a brothel right now. You can show us that you actually like girls."

Rian's words hit Julian like lightning. His eyes widened, his face paled. "What?! Are you crazy? I don't want to!" Julian quickly rejected the idea, his voice trembling between shock and anger. "I don't need to prove anything to you guys. I'm normal, and I'm not losing my virginity to a prostitute!"

Doni and Rian exchanged glances and then laughed. Their laughter echoed in Julian's ears, making him feel smaller and smaller. "Virginity? Are you seriously still thinking about that, Julian? Nowadays, no one cares about that. Guys aren't like girls; it doesn't matter if you're a virgin or not," Doni said with a sneer.

"Yeah, Julian. If you really like girls, it shouldn't be a problem for you to go there," Rian added, his tone provocative. "Or... are you scared?"

Those words were like a whip on Julian's back. Insults, mockery-they all swirled in his mind. Between the shame and anger, something pushed him to prove something to them. Even though his heart screamed 'no', his mouth said something different.

"Fine," Julian said in a quieter voice, almost a whisper. "If that's what you want, let's go."

Doni and Rian smiled in satisfaction, but inside Julian's head, his thoughts were racing. It wasn't because he was afraid of being called gay, but because he was scared of something simpler and more embarrassing: his inability to approach girls. He had avoided women for so long, not because he wasn't interested, but because of the overwhelming nervousness he felt whenever he was near them.

In the car, on the way to the place they had agreed on, Julian's hands were sweating. His chest felt tight. In his mind, he imagined being in a room with a woman paid to be with him. And the worst part? He was afraid his body wouldn't respond. His manhood might not even rise, and he'd become a laughing stock, not just to his friends, but to the woman as well.

While Doni and Rian kept joking, laughing, and talking about what they would do at the brothel, Julian remained silent, lost in his own fear.

"This is the biggest and fanciest brothel in town," Rian said proudly as he parked the car in front of a grand building standing among a row of shops. The building looked more like a five-star hotel than a brothel. Neon lights glittered at the entrance, casting a soft glow on the crowded sidewalk.

Two sexy women stood at the front, smiling seductively, teasing anyone who passed by. Next to them, a security guard stood tall, looking relaxed yet alert. They giggled softly as a few men glanced at them, hesitating before finally speeding up their steps as if afraid of being caught.

"Wow... this place is huge. It looks like a hotel," Doni marveled, his eyes glued to the scene in front of him.

Julian stood behind them, feeling awkward and uncomfortable. The building was too big and too glamorous for something that, in his mind, should have been hidden and dark. He imagined something grimy, dirty, and filled with cigarette smoke-like what he often saw in movies. But this place... was far from what he had imagined. The walls gleamed, the high ceilings adorned with crystal chandeliers radiated an elegant glow.

"This is the most luxurious brothel in town," Rian continued, with a proud tone like a tour guide. "Most of the girls here are still young and very pretty. You definitely won't regret coming here."

Julian narrowed his eyes, suspicious. "How come you seem to know this place so well, Rian? Are you a regular customer or something?" he asked, half teasing, half serious.

Rian just grinned, scratching his head awkwardly. His nervous laugh was a silent confession. Julian stared at him with a sharp look, playing with the threat on the tip of his tongue. "Should I tell your wife that you like spending time here?"

"N-no, Julian!" Rian panicked immediately, his eyes widening. "Don't tell my wife! She'll hang me if she finds out I come here!" His tone turned serious, and fear was clear on his face. "Seriously, Julian. Don't joke about that."

Julian chuckled softly, feeling a small sense of victory in his chest. "See, Rian, don't play with fire if you don't want to get burned," he replied, shrugging, enjoying Rian's panicked expression. There was something slightly satisfying about seeing his arrogant friend scared.

"Alright, alright! What are you guys arguing about here?" Doni cut in, sounding annoyed. "Are we going in or not? We've been standing here for a while, and there are lots of mosquitoes, you know!" He glanced between the two, eager to enjoy the night without any drama.

Rian quickly nodded, trying to shift the focus. "Let's go in. I'll introduce you to the boss who owns this place." With a relaxed but eager stride, Rian walked ahead, followed by Doni, who seemed impatient.
