Vivien's life changed, after the death of her father. She had to leave her home town to get a suitable and well paying job so as to care for her mother, and younger siblings, especially her little sister who had just been diagnosed with lung cancer, and needed surgery. Coincidentally, she met Kess Norman, the heir to the Norris Corporation, whose identity was hidden. He fell in love with her at first sight, and was determined to make her his.
Vivien, a poor country girl, who lives in the trenches of London along with her family, was forced by ugly circumstances that just befell her home to fight and change the will of destiny to her favor.
"Mother, I shall be traveling to the city tomorrow, so that I could get a better job that would sustain us" She informed .
"I don't think it's necessary dear. Why don't you stay here instead, to make ends meet. Don't look at the situation here, as there are many local firms that are currently looking for young and agile young ladies like you to employ." Madam Gilbert said.
"I understand your words mum, but I don't think my spirit loves staying here again. The few companies that are here are not willing to pay well and besides, I need to get money as soon as possible to pay for Vicky's surgery before it would be very late for us".
Her mother who was not happy, and in support of her decisions bowed her head and frowned her face.
Ever since the passing away of her husband two months ago, things has never been the way it used to be again. Infact things has never been easy for them right from the scratch, since they were known to be a struggling family who hardly ever eat two square meals a day.
"By the way, you never told me before now, about you preparing to relocate to the city. Why are you just bringing it up now that you would be traveling tomorrow? Just imagine" said Mrs Gilbert.
"I'm very sorry mum. Yes, I should have told you before now but it just came to me as a matter of urgency".
"Explain better," Her mother asked.
"The company where I told my good friend, Lina Winston to submit an application for me, just called me yesterday, demanding that I come for an interview, tomorrow afternoon. If I miss it, I don't know which other company in London that would employ me. You know it's very difficult to get a good paying job in these London companies, except an intermediary stands in for you" she explained.
"In other words, are you really sure that you want to leave for London?" Her mother Mrs. Gilbert asked.
"Yes mum, I'm very sure. I need this job, and we need it. Look at Vicky's condition, she needs urgent treatment. Look at Van also, he needs quality education. In fact look, we hardly eat good meals. Our lives is just scattered. We don't have a good financial history, and we don't even have a good future. So, it's good I leave for the best" Vivien said.
"You're free dear. Go but remember where you came from" Her mother approved of her departure on a sad crying face.
The next day, Vivien journeyed from the trenches village through a train to the main city of London, where she was harbored in the house of Lina Winston her best friend who has been encouraging her all this while to come over to have a better life.
Meanwhile, Lina is a secretary with the same company that just called Vivien for an interview and for sure, Lina worked it out for her due to the position she holds with the company.
"Alright miss, we have seen your application, which is good. We have also conducted an interview for you, and from what I'm seeing here, you did perfectly well. However, you may return to your destination, and hope for our calls" The human resources manager, Mr. Kingston said.
"Thanks alot sir. I shall wait patiently for the company's call" said Vivien.
She was indeed very happy that her application and interview was given a positive appraisal by the H.R.M. himself and with this, she became more confident that she would be given the job.
She left the H.R.M's office to Lina's and there they discussed for a few minutes, before she finally left.
But as she left, just a few seconds before the company's gate, she heard the whispers of a young man calling and waving his hands to her. The man didn't know her name actually, but after seeing that the man was communicating to her from afar with his hands, she had to stop, to hear what he had to say.
The man hurriedly ran towards her direction, sweating and breathing profusely, while on suite.
"Hello pretty lady. I have been calling you right from when you came out from Lina's office but I guess you didn't notice" He said.
"Oh! Yes sir, I didn't"
Vivien responded politely, as she stormed her eyes round the young sweating young man.
She was still patiently waiting to hear what he would eventually convey to her. Although, she thought that he was one of the company's management bodies, not knowing that he was not.
"Oh! Please forgive my flaws dear. My name is Kess Norman, a popular business man. I actually came here to visit my best friend, who is also the president of this company, "he informed .
"Oh! That's good" She said, looking at him and wondering what on Earth would connect her to such a discussion.
"When I saw you, I became disturbed. Disturbed in the sense that my body and soul pointed you to me, that you are my wife" He said with all sense of seriousness.
She bowed her head and was moved to laugh.
"You're very funny sir"
"Really?"
"Yes" she said.
"I want you to marry me and if you do, I will never make you cry," Kess said with a ring in his hand while he knelt down.
"Is this is a joke or what? Please, I don't welcome such kind of play. Goodbye"
She walked away from him, as she felt so embarrassed with his words and actions.
She thought the guy was actually joking with her, but in truth, he wasn't.
Meanwhile, Kess felt so embarrassed with her words and decision to walk away.
He is a rich and powerful business man, who takes "NO" for an answer.
"I shall get you soon, I promise" he whispered to himself.
