One relationship was ruined because of a one-night mistake. "You are my wish to the Father, I pray that He grants you to me." That was my only prayer, but this is not the situation I wanted. I never intended to ruin a relationship, nor did I want to hurt another person. What happened in the past was unexpected, and now, here I am, facing the consequences of my actions. I'm married to a man who does not love me, and who never will, because he only sees me as a friend. "Wait for the love you deserve," as people often say. That's why all I can do is pray and dream that someday, the love I give him will be returned. Actually, I am his legal wife, but I let him do whatever he wants with his life. I also allow him to continue his relationship with the woman he loves, the one he's cared for from the very beginning. I'm not a martyr-I just want everything to be okay, and I don't want any conflict because I've accepted that this is the fate that's been given to me. We are not bound by love, and I've come to terms with that. I accept our situation, and I understand that we are married only on paper, even though we live under the same roof. I do my duties as a wife, like serving him. I learned to cook because of him, though I can tell he doesn't really eat what I prepare. Life is bitter, but this is who I am. I keep trying, trying to make things work between us, to make everything okay, just like when we were young, because we used to be friends. "Have you eaten?" I asked, seeing him drinking coffee in the dining area, focused on his laptop. I gave a bitter smile, already expecting no answer from him because who am I to deserve his attention? I took a deep breath; he didn't even glance at me. I don't have a contagious disease, yet he treats me as if I have leprosy. "Have you spoken to your father?" he asked emotionlessly, closing his laptop with a thud. "I-I told him," I stammered, bowing my head. "Good," he said and stood up. I watched him walk away without saying anything, then started cleaning the dining area. I noticed him stop, so I also paused, and he turned to face me. "Don't expect me to come home during the weekdays. Don't wait for me on the weekends either," he said seriously. All I could do was nod in agreement to avoid further conflict in our family. I endure this life even though it hurts because I'm the one to blame, and I'm the one who understands, so I carry the burden. "When we're at the camp, Psalm, just ignore me because they don't know we're married on paper," he said irritably and turned away. "I'm sorry," I called out, trying to apologize. My hands trembled as I held his hands with both of mine. "I-I'm sorry," I repeated. He sighed deeply and pulled his hands away from mine. "Your sorry won't change the situation, Psalm!" he replied angrily. "I-I love... you," I said bravely, though my voice was shaky. "But you don't own me," he replied coldly. I took a step forward to face him, but when our eyes met, I quickly looked away, playing with my wedding ring. "What do I have to do for you to forgive me?" I asked. "My freedom!" he answered shortly. "And please, stop wearing that ring because we're not lovers." "As you wish." "Do everything you can to earn my forgiveness!" were his last words before he left without saying goodbye. I exhaled deeply and cried. His request may be unclear, but I promise to find a way to give him the freedom he asks for. Even though I love him deeply, I'm willing to sacrifice for his happiness. "Being in love with someone who no longer loves you is the most painful feeling in the world," I whispered, wiping my tears before running to my room, where I cried my heart out. I let out all the pain through my tears. I released all my frustrations. I screamed and threw whatever I could get my hands on because, no matter how much I break down here, no one would hear me. "A-Ah... it hurts!" I cried out in frustration, burying my face in a pillow to calm myself down because there was no one else to comfort me but me. I got up and looked at the picture of us on our wedding day. I stared at Llishan's face, where you could see the forced smile on his lips. I stood and walked towards the picture, gently caressing his face. "I hope that one day I'll wake up, and the pain I carry will be gone." "I hope that one day this pretending will end. It's hard, but I hope that one day you'll have your freedom, baby, and I hope I'll be able to give you what you're asking for when I'm finally tired." This is the truth I'm standing on! I am Princess Psalm Jaxeen De-Gracia, and he is Mc Llishan Sanchez.

The Mistake Painful Chapter 1 my first love

Chapter I

Princess Psalm Jaxeen's POV

"Daddy!" I called out as I ran towards him. He stopped walking and waited for me.

"Yes, (my child)?" he asked, putting an arm around me as we walked together into the hospital.

"Can we talk about what happened between Llishan and me, Daddy?" I asked, my voice hesitant. He stopped and looked at me, making me instinctively bow my head. Daddy knows how much I love Mc Llishan.

"What about it?" he asked seriously.

"It's been a year, Daddy, and nothing has changed," I complained. I wasn't happy because the man I love isn't happy being with me.

"You're a woman, Princess Psalm, and something happened between you two. He has to take responsibility. Is that so hard to understand?" he said sternly.

"But, Dad..." I started to protest, but he shook his head.

"No more 'buts'!" he warned.

"Daddy, let's just let him go. I'll move on," I pleaded, but he kept walking, ignoring me.

"Daddy!"

"Daddy!" I ran after him. He shook his head again, not wanting me to be at a disadvantage simply because I'm a woman.

"Please, Daddy!" I begged, following him wherever he went.

"I'm begging you, Daddy... Help me because... he's hurting."

"P-Please... Daddy?" I stammered, still trying to convince him. He finally stopped and looked at me with concern. No parent wants to see their child in pain, I thought.

My daddy is my first love, and I love him dearly. He raised me with unconditional love, and I can see his concern as a father in his eyes. I'm lucky to have him, and I wouldn't ask for more.

"Alright, fine," he said, relenting, which made me smile because I could now give my husband what he wanted.

"I'll give him his freedom, but they'll have to forget that the name 'De-Gracia' was ever associated with them," he added, leaving me speechless.

"Once is enough for a wise person, my dear daughter," he said as he patted my right shoulder. I sighed because I knew I couldn't persuade my daddy about Llishan's wishes. This was one thing I didn't like about the situation between us-my father's friendship with Llishan's father was nearly ruined because Daddy insisted that Llishan take responsibility. Mc Llishan agreed to marry me, even though it was against his will.

"Alright, Dad," I replied, giving him a kiss and a tight hug. He hugged me back and kissed my forehead, making me close my eyes.

"Take care, anak. Always remember that we love you!" he said. I no longer have a driver since Bella, my lively friend, is no longer with me. I've learned to do things on my own now.

"Bye, Daddy. I love you too!" I said as I turned away from him. I heard him call back, so I turned again and blew him a flying kiss.

Today, our team is offering a free check-up at the PNP camp, as our Medical Team is under contract to serve as their doctors before they undergo training, especially for the new recruits.

I freshened up, applying some makeup so I wouldn't look pale. I brushed my shoulder-length hair and tied it up, knowing it would get hot later in the hall. I smiled, checked my reflection in the mirror, and put on some perfume.

I grabbed my lab gown, removed my wedding ring from my finger, and got out of the car. I was wearing a V-neck sleeveless tank tucked into high-waisted pants, just the way I like it-comfortable, yet stylish.

"Doctora De-Gracia?" someone called from behind, making me turn.

"Captain De Jesus?" I greeted with a smile, nodding at him.

"You look great!" he said in admiration as he walked towards me.

"Thanks," I replied with a slight smile.

I put on my lab gown, and we walked together to the training hall, which was also where he needed to go. I could already see my colleagues setting up the equipment, and it seemed I was the only one they were waiting for. Other officers were busy, with some already lining up while others were completing their forms.

"Sorry for being late," I apologized to my team.

"It's fine, we understand," Dr. Henry, the head of our team, kindly replied.

A few minutes later, we began our work, particularly checking the officers' health status, both internal and external, especially regarding their skin.

We all know that skin is the largest organ of the body, and for men in uniform, it's essential to keep it in good condition. Various skin conditions, like Lichen Simplex Chronicus, Urticaria, and itching, can affect their performance. As doctors, we provide them with the necessary treatments. There were quite a few of them, so we didn't notice the time passing.

I love my profession because it makes me happy to help others. My back was soaked with sweat due to the heat, and the hall was packed to its capacity, making it hard for air to circulate. But I didn't mind, as our job was to serve people, and everything was organized despite the heat.

I wiped the sweat from my forehead with the back of my hand. I think they forgot to bring the stand fan, which made it even hotter. Someone placed a bottle of water beside me, but I was too busy filling out a police officer's form to notice.

"Doctora, water?" Captain De Jesus offered, making me look up.

I smiled and nodded, as I was already parched, barely able to swallow. He opened the bottle and handed it to me like a true gentleman. I put down my stethoscope and took the water he offered, drinking it gratefully.

"Thank you!" I said softly afterward.

"You're welcome," he replied with a smile and a playful wink before walking away. I didn't pay much attention to him as I focused on my work again.

"On vacation, is your girlfriend?" I overheard Captain De Jesus ask someone, but I ignored it and stayed focused on my task.

"She went home to Siargao."

I recognized that voice. I wasn't sure how long he had been there, but I began to sweat more. I took a deep breath, remembering what he had said before: that I should ignore him whenever we're in camp. So, I quickly finished what I was writing and got back to work.

Once we were done, I placed my stethoscope around my neck and took another sip of water, looking for some fresh air. Dr. Henry approached me, wiping sweat from his forehead with a smile.

I hurriedly left the office where we had eaten when I heard my name being called, so I turned around. I was no longer wearing my lab gown because I was about to go home.

"Yes, Captain?" I asked De Jesus, who had called me. Don't tell me he took his dad's joke about us going on a date seriously.

"Major Sanchez wants to talk to you," he said, frowning. But of course, being the soft person that I am, I waited for him outside.

"Follow me to my office!" he commanded sternly, walking past me, so I followed him.

We've been under contract with the PNP as their medical team for a long time, but I've never been to Mc's office because I knew I wasn't welcome, and I already knew the reason. I entered his office but didn't sit in front of his desk yet because he hadn't invited me to, and it would be embarrassing if I took the initiative.

"Have a seat," he commanded seriously, so I quickly sat down.

"Thank you, Major," I replied. We still have to remain professional in all matters.

"Next time, if you have a free medical session here, don't wear a V-neck sleeveless top," he scolded me. I glanced at my outfit because it wasn't inappropriate, and it suited me.

"I was wearing my lab gown," I said seriously.

"Don't argue. You don't have a large enough chest to wear something like that. No one here will find you attractive because it doesn't suit you," he retorted. My eyes widened at what he said. Mind your own business, I thought, but he just gave me a stern look.

"Wear a t-shirt next time. There are plenty at home," he said without much enthusiasm.

"Fine," I agreed, standing up.

"We'll talk at home," he added, but I didn't respond because I knew he wouldn't come home.

"I'll be going now," I said goodbye, glancing at a picture of him and AZ. I ignored the pain it caused because what could I do? I had to accept it and pretend like everything was fine, even though nothing would change.

I quickly headed to my car and went to see AJ. I'd check on him and hang out there for a while.

FLASHBACK...

I don't know what happened. I just woke up one day, and I had destroyed a relationship that I didn't mean to.

I woke up with someone lying on top of me, and I was shocked to see that the person I had always dreamed of was beside me. I moved slightly and winced because I felt pain in the center of my body, and my whole body ached too. I couldn't remember much, but I was happy, of course.

"Yes, he got me... He loves me," I said excitedly, getting up slowly. I walked with a limp and headed to my walk-in closet with a smile on my face. I couldn't believe what had happened between us. It felt so good that I smiled while searching for a t-shirt to wear. I decided to take a picture of Mc Llishan while he was sleeping.

I'll take Llishan's picture while he's sleeping, I thought as I left the room. This will be my proof, so I quickly transferred the photo to my laptop. I wasn't satisfied with just that, so I sent it to my dad's email account. I messaged him, saying that something had happened between me and Mc Llishan and that he loved me, even though that wasn't true.

I headed to the kitchen to cook us breakfast because I was so happy. I couldn't stop smiling while cooking. I also made coffee because my head hurt from the drinking the night before. I tried to remember, but I couldn't, so I just let it go, as my mind said. I saw him head to the

Averay tightly embraced Haze, unwilling to let go of him at the airport. "Please... Haze. I don't want to go, p-please let me stay here. Haze..." she pleaded, her voice trembling with tears. Her tears flowed uncontrollably. Her chest tightened as if her heart was being painfully squeezed. "Please, Ave. Just go. This is for your own good. It will only hurt me more if you stay by my side. I don't want to see you crying, Averay. Just go inside," Haze said, his voice devoid of emotion. Haze didn't want to see a woman cry because it reminded him of his mother. "H-Haze... please, don't push me away... I want to stay with you, please... I love you." He gently removed her arms from his waist, turned his back on her, and started to walk away. But Averay hugged him from behind. "H-Haze, I love you! P-Please, choose me... love me instead. N-Not Kreza. Didn't she leave you? Please, choose me, Haze, I won't leave you. I love you... Hajinn." She sobbed, but his heart remained unmoved, showing no emotion. "I love her. I waited for her for so long, and now she's back. We can finally continue the love we lost, Ave," he said firmly. "W-What about me, Haze? What about me?" she asked, her sobs growing louder, attracting the attention of the people around them. Almost everyone at the airport was watching. "Ave, before Kreza, you didn't exist in my life. From the start, there was no Averay who loved me, and I can't love you back. Just go, Averay. It will hurt you more if you see me with the woman I truly love." "D-Do you really love her? D-Did you ever love me, even once, Haze?" Averay asked, her voice filled with emotion. She didn't want to leave; she wanted to stay. But now, the man she loved so deeply was the one sending her away at the airport. It hurt, but he was pushing her away. "I... don't and never did." With those words, her arms dropped to her sides, and she let him go. She closed her eyes tightly and cried. "Haze..." she called out. "Haze..." But he didn't respond. "Haze!" she screamed, but he continued walking out of the airport, ignoring her. "Haze! Haze! Come back here, please! Haze, I love you! D-Don't forget how much I love you!" She collapsed onto the floor, sobbing uncontrollably, letting her tears fall freely down her cheeks. It felt like a knife was stabbing her heart. She had no choice but to let go and leave behind the man she loved. She had done everything-begged and cried in front of him-but nothing changed. His desire for her to leave won out. She stood up, wiped her tears, took a deep breath, and looked at the airport doors where she could no longer see him. A bitter smile crossed her face, and once again, her tears fell uncontrollably. "Haze, I love you so much..." she whispered before turning away and starting to walk. This was it; she had to do this. She had decided to let him go. She could only wish him a happy life.

I was once the heiress to the Solomon empire, but after it crumbled, I became the "charity case" ward of the wealthy Hyde family. For years, I lived in their shadows, clinging to the promise that Anson Hyde would always be my protector. That promise shattered when Anson walked into the ballroom with Claudine Chapman on his arm. Claudine was the girl who had spent years making my life a living hell, and now Anson was announcing their engagement to the world. The humiliation was instant. Guests sneered at my cheap dress, and a waiter intentionally sloshed champagne over me, knowing I was a nobody. Anson didn't even look my way; he was too busy whispering possessively to his new fiancée. I was a ghost in my own home, watching my protector celebrate with my tormentor. The betrayal burned. I realized I wasn't a ward; I was a pawn Anson had kept on a shelf until he found a better trade. I had no money, no allies, and a legal trust fund that Anson controlled with a flick of his wrist. Fleeing to the library, I stumbled into Dallas Koch—a titan of industry and my best friend’s father. He was a wall of cold, absolute power that even the Hydes feared. "Marry me," I blurted out, desperate to find a shield Anson couldn't climb. Dallas didn't laugh. He pulled out a marriage agreement and a heavy fountain pen. "Sign," he commanded, his voice a low rumble. "But if you walk out that door with me, you never go back." I signed my name, trading my life for the only man dangerous enough to keep me safe.

I stood at my mother’s open grave in the freezing rain, my heels sinking into the mud. The space beside me was empty. My husband, Hilliard Holloway, had promised to cherish me in bad times, but apparently, burying my mother didn't fit into his busy schedule. While the priest’s voice droned on, a news alert lit up my phone. It was a livestream of the Metropolitan Charity Gala. There was Hilliard, looking impeccable in a custom tuxedo, with his ex-girlfriend Charla English draped over his arm. The headline read: "Holloway & English: A Power Couple Reunited?" When he finally returned to our penthouse at 2 AM, he didn't come alone—he brought Charla with him. He claimed she’d had a "medical emergency" at the gala and couldn't be left alone. I found a Tiffany diamond necklace on our coffee table meant for her birthday, and a smudge of her signature red lipstick on his collar. When I confronted him, he simply told me to stop being "hysterical" and "acting like a child." He had no idea I was seven months pregnant with his child. He thought so little of my grief that he didn't even bother to craft a convincing lie, laughing with his mistress in our home while I sat in the dark with a shattered heart and a secret life growing inside me. "He doesn't deserve us," I whispered to the darkness. I didn't scream or beg. I simply left a folder on his desk containing signed divorce papers and a forged medical report for a terminated pregnancy. I disappeared into the night, letting him believe he had successfully killed his own legacy through his neglect. Five years later, Hilliard walked into "The Vault," the city's most exclusive underground auction, looking for a broker to manage his estate. He didn't recognize me behind my Venetian mask, but he couldn't ignore the neon pink graffiti on his armored Maybach that read "DEADBEAT." He had no clue that the three brilliant triplets currently hacking his security system were the very children he thought had been erased years ago. This time, I wasn't just a wife in the way; I was the one holding all the cards.

I went to the City Clerk’s office for a routine copy of my marriage license to finalize a trust fund audit. I expected a simple piece of paper, but the clerk’s pitying look told me my entire life was a lie. "The license was never finalized, Ms. Oliver. In the eyes of the state, you are single." The three-hundred-guest wedding at the Plaza and the Vogue features meant nothing. My husband, Gray Cooley, had intentionally filed the documents with a "procedural defect" so he could discard me without a legal divorce. Moments later, an iCloud invite titled "Our Little Secret" popped up on my screen. It was a photo of my best friend, Brylee, holding a positive pregnancy test at our Hamptons estate. Gray’s text to her was the final blow: "Happy anniversary, babe. This baby is the best gift. Once the trust unlocks today, we’re done with the charade." I soon discovered they were even stealing my career, reassigning my architectural masterpiece to Brylee while preparing my eviction notice. Gray's mother called me a "barren mule" in a leaked recording, mocking the infertility I suffered after saving Gray’s life in a construction accident. I wasn't a wife; I was a three-year placeholder used to secure his inheritance. How could the man I bled for treat me like a disposable prop? How could my best friend carry his child while pretending to comfort me through my darkest moments? The betrayal burned until it turned into a cold, hard stone of fury. I didn't cry. Instead, I walked into the penthouse of the Barretts, the Cooleys' most powerful rivals. I signed a marriage contract with Kane Barrett, the man the tabloids called the "Beast of Wall Street." "I want a wedding," I told his father, my voice steady and lethal. "Bigger than the one I had with Gray." If they wanted me gone, they would have to watch me become the woman who owns their world.
