Chapter 1 From mystery to mystery.

Chapter 1.

From mystery to mystery.

ELSA'S POV.

Nina, my sister had volunteered to lead me to a room after a party I attended with her and her friends.

"Elsa, stay put. You're wiggling your body, and we might fall off the stairs and get some bones broken!" She cautioned me. Her voice a little bit too harsh for the question I asked.

I laughed anyway.

Everything is always funny to a drunk bee.

"I'm older than you Nina," I reminded her, "But don't worry, I will let it go."

"Yeah, right." She said in a sarcastic tone.

We made it to the hallway and my heels kept on threatening to give up on me as my legs moved on their edges.

I could stumble to the ground and break an ankle.

"Nina, the heels."

"What happened to them?" She asked.

I couldn't reply to her immediately, I was trying to pinpoint the lingering emotions in her voice.

Her voice was not as sweet as it always was, and even in my drunk stage, I could notice that.

Her voice held two emotions I could decipher. Hatred and disgust.

I laughed it off and replied to her question with a "Nothing, they're fine."

The remaining journey through the hallway was in silence, though my laughter kept on lingering behind us.

When Nina opened the door, I told her about my current achievement, "I won the race, Nina."

She replied to me with nothing. She only led me to the bed and threw me on it, "You weigh more than twenty trailers of cement!" She growled.

I pouted, "You didn't ask me what race?'"

"Just sleep."

She made it clear that she was not interested in anything I wanted to say.

I laughed then hiccupped, "You're very funny."

She huffed in anger and turned to walk away.

I remembered I called Collins, my fiance, to meet me up at the party a few hours ago, and he hadn't shown up.

"Collins is coming, stay awake." I told myself, but my eyes would not listen to simple instructions.

They closed up, and I slept off.

_____________

When I woke up, a headache like adrenaline hit me and I moaned, clenching my head in pain.

"Ah!" I moaned out.

"Here." A cup was stretched to me, and I collected it, knowing it must be from Nina.

"Thank you." I appreciated and gulped down the liquid in the cup.

"Give it a minute or two, you will be fine."

I flapped my lashes together and relaxed, and like I was told, the headache vanished.

I opened my eyes, "It's gone, thank you."

I jolted when I saw a man smirking down at me. "Who are you? What do you want from me?"

He chuckled, "Last night was fun, I know of it, but can you stop being shameless and get out of my room? I don't want another round."

I was the most confused human right now.

What's he talking about? I had to question myself and I stared around the room, only to suck in a breath.

This is my room. That was more of an assurance than a statement.

The room was nothing like mine.

Nothing at all.

I became conscious of everything around me and became aware of my nudity under the covers.

What? No! Fucking no!

"What, are you pretending right now?"

I turned to stare at the guy with my eyes now wet with unshed tears.

He began to pull himself closer to me, "How dare you pretend like you know nothing?"

"Get away from me!" I yelled at him, ready to escape with the covers covering my shame.

He laid on the bed and grabbed my hands, "Stay put, you got me in the mood for another round!"

"No, let me go!"

The door busted open, and my family rushed in with Collins, and some reporters were with them.

The cameras began to click on me as some guards got the man off my body.

"She paid me for the night, and it was such a blissful one. She's ready to pay for this morning's own, too, if only you are a little bit late!" He yelped out to everyone and I was sure that the reporters caught that moment.

"Shut up!" Collins punched the man, "You cannot lie against my fiancee. She's a virgin, and she can't cheat on me!"

My cries heightened when I heard his defence.

I know he loved me, but this proved beyond everything.

The man laughed, "I'm sorry for you, lover boy, you've just been cheated. She's wide but sweet. You should enjoy her when you can."

He laughed menacingly before he could be dragged outside the room.

Collins rushed to me and scooped me in his arms, "Don't cry, I know everything is a lie."

He carried me out of the room and stopped in front of my father, "This is a pure misunderstanding, Mr Cooper. I trust Elsa, and my marriage with her will hold, no matter what."

My father smiled at him, "You're a responsible man, Collins: only a fool will hurt a man like you, and if you get tired of her, always return her to me. There's a room for shameless people in the mansion."

"No, Mr Cooper. There will be no need for that, I bet you." And he saved me from public shame.

I don't know how the reporters were curbed from releasing that disgusting news about me, but they were silenced like nothing happened.

_____________

That was weeks ago.

So, here I was in my room, staring at a single piece of paper that was putting my life at stake.

All my day's sweat and achievements were at stake if the paper mistakenly got out of the walls of my room.

The door of my room opened, and I turned my tearful eyes to the person who entered the room.

Nina.

She was my only source of comfort in a situation like this and she was the only one that could believe me if I said that I did nothing wrong.

"Nina," I called her and threw myself to her shoulder.

Her everytime comforting hands were opened for me and she began to do what she loved doing best. To rock me till I was calm, but today, I know that her rocking ability would not work.

I don't know who I wronged that something that bad was happening to me because I know I have always minded my business, and I loved to be good to everyone just like I should, but I was receiving evil in return.

It is not fair.

"Nina!" My cries were louder and filled with more bitterness.

"Elsa, what's wrong?" She inquired from me worriedly.

"Nina, I'm ruined. My life has ended." I wailed.

"Elsa, speak up, you know I can't help you without you talking." Her voice had become almost as fidgeting as mine.

She was feeling my pains and that only increased the pain in my heart and the bitterness in my soul.

I shut my eyes and let it out, "Nina, I'm pregnant. I don't know how, but I'm pregnant."

She was still for some seconds and I couldn't dare to look her in the eyes.

"You're lying." She muttered to me.

I know she was still in shock, and my shock was a hundred times more than hers.

I had sex with someone only once, can it be that? It's just a one-time thing. Just once! And it was even a rape because I was unaware. Oh God! My thought ran out to my ears.

"I'm not," I said to Nina and gave her the sheet for her to see for herself.

"Collins will hate me now, Nina. He will!"

Nina was silent, and she stood up from the bed to gaze more at the sheet that marked the end of my beginning while I was on my seat feasting on my tears.

"Elsa," She called with her eyes solemnly on the sheet, "Thank you."

My confusion was all over me, so I huskily questioned her, "For what?"

"I have a confession to make," Nina told me.

She had her eyes on the sheet like it was glued to it.

I sniffled my tears, "Not now, Nina. My life is at stake. I have to think of something right now before my father gets to know about my pregnancy. I have to run away."

"What!" Nina yelled, "And then what? Just allow my everyday prayers to go to waste? No way!"

She had turned into a completely different person by now. She was glaring at me like I was a threat to her existence like I was holding her success dear.

She stared at me right now as if she hated me, and all the love she showed to me was nothing but a facade like she was disgusted by me.

"Nina," I called her to bring her back to order.

"Fucking shut up!" Her voice was harsh, and I hushed in astonishment. I even forget I was crying like a second ago.

She came closer to me, "I can give up the pretence now, I can stop having your filthy body closer to my gorgeous body just to keep on patiently for a day like this when you will receive a big gift that will push you out of the family!"

I chuckled bitterly.

That was because I didn't hear nor understand anything of the words being spoken to me. "I... I fail to understand you, Nina."

She pulled herself closer to me, "I love Collins, that is the confession I have to make. You know how obsessed I am with things, Elsa, and I want Collins now and I bet you can put one and two together."

It was a quick realization to me.

In a minute, I realised everything.

"Nina?" I had to question to know if someone else was personifying my lovely sister's body.

She laughed, "Oh Elsa, are you hurt by what I did? No, I am just paying you back. Collins saw me first, I love him and then you showed up and took him away from me."

I shook my head in utter astonishment, "I don't know what you're talking about, Nina.

"Collins and I's relationship was a contract. It's for the family companies, for both families, it's purely for business, and we're just so lucky to fall in love with each other."

"That's your mistake! Wait til I show this sheet to Dad and Collins."

"No! You won't!"

I stood up to my feet and attacked my sister for the sheet. I should collect this sheet and run for my life and that of my baby, I thought.

"Leave it!" Nina huffed and struggled with me.

"No! Give it back!"

We were still at it when the door opened, and two guards entered.

Nina let go of me with the sheet still with her, "Give you, Elsa, you are ruined. You confessed about your predicament publicly. It will be publicized, and I bet that everyone is in the sitting room right now, waiting for you, including your sweet Collins."

I balled my fist and glared at Nina, 'How was I so fooled?' I wondered to myself.

And now, thinking of what transpired that night after the party in the hotel, Nina had volunteered to help me to my room.

But she intentionally led me to another person's room instead, for me to be raped and impregnated, so that she would be able to claim my fiance.

I was mad now, my pain was mixed with a sense of betrayal, and I rushed and grabbed Nina in the throat, "I will kill you today, you bitch!"

I was carried away from her, and I wiggled, struggling to climb down from whoever was carrying me, "Let me go! I have to kill that bastard!"

When I was dropped to the floor, it was amiss with the family.

I didn't mind.

I launched to Nina to design her face with my wrath, but before I could get to her, someone pulled me back and landed a hot slap on my face.

One that got me rolling to the glass table.

My eyes blurred in the instant, and when I opened them, I saw my father hovering over me with his gun in hand.

"Father," I called frightfully and turned to Collins for help like he always did, but he stared away from me.

I cringed, knowing that I was a slice of dead meat.

"You've embarrassed me enough today and my image has been tainted by you! I cannot allow you to live to keep on embarrassing me, you grateful child!" And he crocked his gun, pointing it at the fidgeting me.

Before he could shoot me, a voice rang out,

"Don't you dare!"
