I'm lying here alone in my room, still unable to fully comprehend everything that has happened to us. It's been incredibly hard to accept Dad's passing, even though two weeks have already gone by.
I've spent the entire day inside my room, so I decided to step out and grab something to eat. As I headed towards the kitchen, I stopped before entering because I overheard my mom and Uncle Martin talking.
"Sandra, I understand what you're going through, and I want to help you start over. Come with me and Albert, and you can begin anew. There's a school where Albert can finish his engineering degree, so there's no problem with his education," Uncle Martin said, sounding concerned.
"I'm sorry, Martin," my mother replied, her voice full of worry. "I just don't know how we'll start over again, and I don't have a job here. I don't want to burden you any further but thank you so much. I'll talk to Albert later when he wakes up."
Hearing this, I quickly returned to my room and lay back down, knowing that my mother would come in soon.
A little while later, I heard a knock on my door, and I knew it was my mother, so I pretended to be asleep. I was right-it was her. She sat beside me on the bed, gently stroking my head.
"Son, I know it's still hard for you to accept everything, and I know that school is one of your dreams. I want to support you, but I hope you understand that I don't have enough work to continue funding your studies. That's why your uncle and I thought it might be best to move back to our hometown. We can start fresh there, and you can still finish your course. You and I will be together through it all," my mother said, her voice filled with sadness. After she spoke, she quietly left the room.
I feel sad for both my mother and me, but it's okay. No matter where I study, if we're together, that's what truly matters.
