Reborn as the Drug Lord's Wife Chapter 1 Captivating My Master's heart

Gabriella

The cold marble floor beneath my feet seemed to drain the last shred of hope from my veins as the guards dragged me forward. Ruby, the drug lord's mistress, descended from her throne-like chair, her stilettos clicking on the floor. Her perfume, a sweet and suffocating scent, wafted toward me.

"Bring her forward," she ordered, her voice tingled with cruelty.

As the guards pulled me closer, Ruby circled me, her eyes raking over my body.

"Oh, best friend, so sad to see you serve me." Her voice feigned sympathy. "Four years ago, you should have been here, in my place, as his mistress."

I caught the glint of gold on her fingers as she gestured, her nails gleaming like razor-sharp talons. The memories she stirred up made my chest tighten.

"But what did you do?" she continued, her voice lethally sharp. "You chose to run away with Otto, and he still betrayed you by bringing you back here, as a slave."

A bitter laugh escaped my lips, echoing off the cavernous room. "Are you trying to dig up my past?" I asked, meeting Ruby's gaze. "It's obvious you know everything since you were my best friend. What exactly do you want, Ruby?"

Ruby's face twisted in rage, her cheeks flushing. "Ruby?" she spat, her voice rising. "I am your master's mistress. How dare you address me by my name?"

I flashed a sly grin, my lips curling upward. "Should I call you mistress?."

The air seemed to vibrate with Ruby's anger. For a moment, she was mute, her chest heaving. Then, her expression hardened. "Behead her!" she shrieked.

The guards yanked me away, their grip bruising. Panic set in as I stumbled, my heart racing. Time seemed to slow as the guards' grip tightened. I closed my eyes, bracing for the worst. But instead of the expected blow, Uriah's commanding voice cut through the tension.

His arrival halted the guards, and I caught a glimpse of his piercing gaze locked onto me.

His voice cut through the tension. "What is happening here?"

Ruby's smile faltered, her eyes darting to the floor. "Nothing, master. I'm just teaching her a lesson."

Uriah's gaze never left the floor, his jaw clenched. "By beheading her?"

Ruby's laughter sounded strained, her words tumbling out in a rush. "What are you saying? You heard wrong."

Uriah's silence was oppressive, his stillness a contrast to Ruby's growing agitation. She shifted her weight, her hands twisting together.

Ruby tried again, her voice trembling. "Oh, you heard that? It's a novel." She turned to me, her smile tight. "Go Gabby, get me the novel. Make sure to get that one... or it's going to be next time."

Her eyes blazed with fury, but I kept my tone neutral. "Yes, mistress."

Ruby's eyes widened, surprise mingling with anger. Her lips pressed together, forming a thin line.

"My lord, how was your trip?" Ruby asked, her voice overly bright. "Do you want me to make a hot bath for you?"

Uriah ignored Ruby, his focus snapping to me. His eyes burned with intensity, the red rims making my pulse skip.

"You!" he said, his voice low and commanding.

I bowed my head, my heart racing. "Yes, my lord."

"Prepare my bath."

Uriah turned to leave, but Ruby intercepted him. "That's preposterous. Why will a common maid prepare it? I'll do it."

Uriah's grip on Ruby's arm was vice-like. Her eyes went wide with fear before she wrenched free, fleeing the mansion with her bodyguards.

I stood alone with Uriah, the air thick with unspoken tension. His gaze snapped to me, his eyes burning with intensity

Uriah's gaze pinned me. "What are you still doing here?"

My voice barely rose above a whisper. "I'm sorry, master. I'll prepare the bath now."

My feet seemed rooted until Uriah's gaze released me. I rushed to obey, my heart pounding.

I poured the scorching water into the tub, my hands shaking slightly. The sound of splashing water filled the air, and I couldn't help but glance at the door, anticipating Uriah's arrival.

He strode in, his red robe accentuating his broad shoulders, and my gaze instinctively dropped to the floor.

"What's your name?" he asked, his deep voice commanding attention.

"Gabriella, master," I replied, my voice barely above a whisper.

"Gabriella?" He repeated, his tone thoughtful. "Sounds familiar."

I dared a glance, meeting his piercing gaze. "Yes, master."

His eyes seemed to bore into mine, as if searching for something.

"Well, Gabriella, do you want to see me naked?" he asked, his voice low and husky.

My cheeks flamed, and I took a step back, startled. "What?"

He chuckled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "You can leave, unless you want to see what doesn't belong to you."

I laughed nervously, trying to compose myself. "Oh, that's what you meant. You should have told me; I had bad thoughts for a second."

He took a step closer, his voice dropping to a whisper. "Bad thoughts, I see... You think I want to get down there? Huh, Guilabella?"

My heart skipped a beat at the familiar name.

"You still can't get my name right," I said, pushing him gently away.

"It's Gabriella, master. And no, I don't want you down anywhere but..." My gaze locked onto his, a spark of defiance igniting within me.

"I'll leave now," I said, turning to depart.

His voice halted me. "Gabriella."

I glanced back, meeting his intense gaze.

With a final glance, Uriah dismissed me, and I fled the chambers, my heart racing.

Uriah, my first love and first enemy.

Today is October 14th, my birthday. I returned to New York after months away, dragging my suitcase through the biting wind, but the VIP pickup zone where my husband's Maybach usually idled was empty. When I finally let myself into our Upper East Side penthouse, I didn't find a cake or a "welcome home" banner. Instead, I found my husband, Caden, kneeling on the floor, helping our five-year-old daughter wrap a massive gift for my half-sister, Adalynn. Caden didn't even look up when I walked in; he was too busy laughing with the girl who had already stolen my father's legacy and was now moving in on my family. "Auntie Addie is a million times better than Mommy," my daughter Elara chirped, clutching a plush toy Caden had once forbidden me from buying for her. "Mommy is mean," she whispered loudly, while Caden just smirked, calling me a "drill sergeant" before whisking her off to Adalynn's party without a second glance. Later that night, I saw a video Adalynn posted online where my husband and child laughed while mocking my "sensitive" nature, treating me like an inconvenient ghost in my own home. I had spent five years researching nutrition for Elara's health and managing every detail of Caden's empire, only to be discarded the moment I wasn't in the room. How could the man who set his safe combination to my birthday completely forget I even existed? The realization didn't break me; it turned me into ice. I didn't scream or beg for an explanation. I simply walked into the study, pulled out the divorce papers I'd drafted months ago, and took a black marker to the terms. I crossed out the alimony, the mansion, and even the custody clause-if they wanted a life without me, I would give them exactly what they asked for. I left my four-carat diamond ring on the console table and walked out into the rain with nothing but a heavily encrypted hard drive. The submissive Mrs. Holloway was gone, and "Ghost," the most lethal architect in the tech world, was finally back online to take back everything they thought I'd forgotten.

Rain hammered against the asphalt as my sedan spun violently into the guardrail on the I-95. Blood trickled down my temple, stinging my eyes, while the rhythmic slap of the windshield wipers mocked my panic. Trembling, I dialed my husband, Clive. His executive assistant answered instead, his voice professional and utterly cold. "Mr. Wilson says to stop the theatrics. He said, and I quote, 'Hang up. Tell her I don’t have time for her emotional blackmail tonight.'" The line went dead while I was still trapped in the wreckage. At the hospital, I watched the news footage of Clive wrapping his jacket around his "fragile" ex-girlfriend, Angelena, shielding her from the storm I was currently bleeding in. When I returned to our penthouse, I found a prenatal ultrasound in his suit pocket, dated the day he claimed to be on a business trip. Instead of an apology, Clive met me with a sneer. He told me I was nothing but an "expensive decoration" his father bought to make him look stable. He froze my bank accounts and cut off my cards, waiting for the hunger to drive me back to his feet. I stared at the man I had loved for four years, realizing he didn't just want a wife; he wanted a prop he could switch off. He thought he could starve me into submission while he played father to another woman's child. But Clive forgot one thing. Before I was his trophy wife, I was Starfall—the legendary voice actress who vanished at the height of her fame. "I'm not jealous, Clive. I'm done." I grabbed my old microphone and walked out. I’m not just leaving him; I’m taking the lead role in the biggest saga in Hollywood—the one Angelena is desperate for. This time, the "decoration" is going to burn his world down.

I was the titan of Wall Street until an indictment and an ankle monitor turned my penthouse into a gilded cage. To save face, I was forced into a marriage with Elza, a "mute" girl from the Schmidt family whom I treated as nothing more than a silent piece of furniture while my empire crumbled. The night I was poisoned at a high-society gala, a mysterious server in an oversized uniform saved my life with terrifying, clinical precision. They disappeared into the night, leaving me with a silver cufflink and a burning obsession to find the shadow who held my life in their hands. Back home, I took my frustration out on Elza, telling her she was "exhausting to look at" and "smelled like sickness" after her charity visits. Her own family treated her like a stray dog, trying to humiliate her at the next gala by dressing her in what they claimed was a cheap knockoff while whispering to the press that she was nothing but a high-end escort. "Stay out of my way," I would growl at her, never noticing the steel in her eyes. I sat at my table, watching my rivals' stocks plummet and wondering who "The Zero"—the legendary financial ghost—really was. I never suspected that the woman I ignored was the same one solving the equations that were currently burning Manhattan to the ground. The injustice peaked when Elza stood before the city's elite, not as a victim, but as a queen. She dropped over a hundred million dollars to buy back her family’s legacy, revealing a secret fortune that made my own empire look like pocket change. As I grabbed her wrist and saw the small red mole hidden beneath her watch, the truth hit me like a physical blow. The silent wife I had despised was the savior I had been hunting, and she was finally done playing the victim. "We have a lot to talk about, wife," I whispered, realizing I had been sleeping next to the most dangerous woman in the world.
