My Arranged Marriage to The Alpha Chapter 1 Chapitre 1

Night had fallen over the city, shrouding the mountains and forests in dense darkness. Adrian Valmont, the Alpha of the Silver Claw pack, stood in his office, shoulders tense, staring at the flickering flames of the huge fireplace. The council meeting had ended, but his words still echoed in his mind.

"You need to find a wife, Adrian. The pack needs a stable authority figure. With everything that has happened, a married Alpha is a symbol of stability. »

Stability. The word rolled bitterly off his tongue. Since the day Livia, his fiancée, abandoned him, stability seemed a distant, almost ironic concept to him. He had never wanted to rule alone, but the idea of an arranged union, imposed by his council, revolted him. Love, passion, these emotions now belonged to a past that he preferred to forget, hidden behind a shell of coldness.

But the stern eyes of his advisors were unwavering. "The shadow of betrayal still looms," one of them said seriously. "If you don't present a strong image, other packs will think we are vulnerable. » He had tried to explain to them that he did not want to be pushed into the arms of a stranger, but in vain. They didn't see it that way, and Adrian knew that his people's loyalty was precious, but fragile. So he resigned himself.

A light scratching at the door pulled him from his thoughts. Mira, his younger sister, entered silently, her gaze gentle but inquisitive.

" How are you ? » she asked softly, closing the door behind her.

"It would be better if the council would let me breathe," he replied, a hint of bitterness in his voice.

Mira walked over and placed a comforting hand on his shoulder. "They want what's best for the pack, Adrian. »

"What they want is to see me tied up in a marriage of convenience. As if that would solve all our problems. »

Mira looked at him gently, then took a deep breath. "Maybe...maybe that wouldn't be such a bad thing." »

He turned around abruptly, his eyes narrowing slightly. "Are you siding with them now too? »

She raised her hands in a sign of peace. "No, I just want you to consider the idea. After all, I know how much this breakup with Livia hurt you. But... who knows? Maybe a new presence could bring you a little... healing. »

He gave a bitter sneer. " Healing ? Do you seriously think an arranged marriage will cure me? It's not a miracle cure, Mira. »

She shook her head gently. "I'm not talking about a miracle, Adrian. I'm talking about a possibility. And then, the woman the council proposed..."

"Katherine, right? » He pronounced the name as if he were tasting an unknown fruit, wary.

Mira nodded. "Yes, Katherine. I have already met her once or twice, during meetings with other allied families. She is... discreet, reserved. Maybe a little too calm for a future Alpha wife, but... there's something... pure, authentic about her. »

"Pure," Adrian repeated, the word sounding strangely in his mouth. "And you think I could get along with her? »

Mira shrugged, a teasing smile on her lips. "I think you should talk to him first to judge. »

Adrian sighed. The idea of meeting this young woman seemed both futile and inevitable to him. He would have preferred the council to focus on the real challenges facing the pack, but he also knew that refusing would be seen as weakness. Finally, he nodded, resigned.

The next day, the meeting was organized in the reception room of the main house. Adrian hadn't bothered to get ready, preferring to present himself as he was, as a silent reminder that he was here not by choice, but by duty. Katherine entered discreetly, her frail and almost shy figure appearing tiny in the middle of the imposing room. She wore a simple dress, her dark hair falling in light waves over her shoulders.

Adrian stared at her for a moment, studying every detail. She was not the flamboyant beauty who attracted attention with her brilliance, but there was something calm, almost soothing in her expression.

Katherine, visibly nervous, hesitated before bowing respectfully. "Hello, Alpha Valmont," she whispered, her soft voice barely audible.

"Adrian," he corrected firmly. "If we are to... consider this union, we might as well avoid unnecessary formalities. »

She nodded, keeping her eyes downcast, visibly uncomfortable. A heavy silence settled, and Adrian felt a slight irritation rising within him. Was she always this self-effacing? Or was it the pressure of the situation that made her that way?

"So, Katherine," he continued, trying to break the silence. "What do you think about all this? I mean... about this proposal. »

She raised her eyes shyly, meeting his gaze with a sincerity that surprised him. "To be honest...it seems strange to me," she replied, her voice betraying a hint of nervousness. "I never imagined that... my life could take such a direction. »

Adrian raised an eyebrow. "Have you never thought about getting married? »

A slight smile appeared on his lips. "Yes, of course. But not... like this. »

There was something disarming in his eyes. No judgment, no pretense, just simple, straightforward honesty. He felt some of his initial wariness erode, replaced by an unexpected curiosity.

"So why did you agree to come? » he asked, a little more gently.

She took a breath before answering. "Because my family thinks it's the best. And I... I want to make them proud. » Her gaze dropped again, and she added in a low voice, almost to herself, "And maybe... that's what I need too." »

Adrian remained silent, absorbing his words. He had anticipated a stiff, mechanical encounter, but this moment proved strangely different. Katherine, despite her apparent reserve, seemed to carry within her an unexpected courage, a silent determination which disarmed him.

He finally broke the silence, his voice softening. "I'm not going to lie to you, Katherine. This marriage, for me, has nothing attractive. My heart... has been betrayed, and it seems impossible to trust again. »

She looked up, looking into his gaze, and whispered in an almost inaudible voice, "I understand." We are both here for reasons that are not love. But maybe... maybe we could at least try to get to know each other. »

He nodded, surprised to feel almost relieved by her words. He had worried that she was expecting a fairy tale, but Katherine seemed as realistic as he was. This observation, against all expectations, brought him a strange form of comfort.

A thin smile appeared on his lips. " Alright. Let's get to know each other then. But, I warn you... I'm not easy to live with. »

She returned a shy smile, the first of the evening, and Adrian felt his heart tighten slightly. Perhaps, he thought, this union, as improbable as it was, was not entirely doomed to failure.

They spent the rest of the evening making small talk, learning little things about each other. Katherine told him about her love of books, the walks she liked to take at sunrise, her passion for medicinal plants. He discovered in her a delicate but resolute woman, and for the first time in a long time, Adrian felt his heart lighten, if only a little.

When she left the room, he remained alone for a moment, meditating on this encounter. An imperceptible smile touched his lips. Perhaps this imposed union would not be as meaningless as he had imagined.

The day we got a new Alpha, my family was forced to become Omega. Because our new Alpha, Alpha Jaxon, was a violent and cruel man who didn't trust any of the pack's former warriors. I refused to accept him as my Alpha, he's a bad guy, and rumor had it that the Moon Goddess didn't even give him a mate. But ironically, as soon as I saw him, I felt a warmth for him. How could this have happened? And he had already found a contract partner! I tried my best to avoid him, but he always noticed me, with his charming and sexy look... The worst part was that in order to accomplish my family's revenge, I had to get close to Alpha Jaxon, seduce him and make him fall completely in love with me... --- "I'm not sure this is the way to welcome your Alpha," he said, inches from my lips. I stopped for a second to try to calm down, the adrenaline flowing, as my wolf and I savored the comfort of being so close to him again. "Hmm, maybe that's true, except you're not my Alpha yet," I replied in a seductive and natural tone. Our faces were so close that the heat of our breaths collided, I wanted so much for him to give in and close the distance between us. "You feel it, don't you? Your wolf is howling inside you for me to mark you... right... here...", Jaxon nipped my neck ever so lightly. I felt like my legs were going to give out from under me at any moment. He moved his hand just under my sweater, to my back. He pulled me closer to his hardness as his gaze held a silent promise.

I stood at my mother’s open grave in the freezing rain, my heels sinking into the mud. The space beside me was empty. My husband, Hilliard Holloway, had promised to cherish me in bad times, but apparently, burying my mother didn't fit into his busy schedule. While the priest’s voice droned on, a news alert lit up my phone. It was a livestream of the Metropolitan Charity Gala. There was Hilliard, looking impeccable in a custom tuxedo, with his ex-girlfriend Charla English draped over his arm. The headline read: "Holloway & English: A Power Couple Reunited?" When he finally returned to our penthouse at 2 AM, he didn't come alone—he brought Charla with him. He claimed she’d had a "medical emergency" at the gala and couldn't be left alone. I found a Tiffany diamond necklace on our coffee table meant for her birthday, and a smudge of her signature red lipstick on his collar. When I confronted him, he simply told me to stop being "hysterical" and "acting like a child." He had no idea I was seven months pregnant with his child. He thought so little of my grief that he didn't even bother to craft a convincing lie, laughing with his mistress in our home while I sat in the dark with a shattered heart and a secret life growing inside me. "He doesn't deserve us," I whispered to the darkness. I didn't scream or beg. I simply left a folder on his desk containing signed divorce papers and a forged medical report for a terminated pregnancy. I disappeared into the night, letting him believe he had successfully killed his own legacy through his neglect. Five years later, Hilliard walked into "The Vault," the city's most exclusive underground auction, looking for a broker to manage his estate. He didn't recognize me behind my Venetian mask, but he couldn't ignore the neon pink graffiti on his armored Maybach that read "DEADBEAT." He had no clue that the three brilliant triplets currently hacking his security system were the very children he thought had been erased years ago. This time, I wasn't just a wife in the way; I was the one holding all the cards.

I married Clive Harrington, the coldest billionaire in Manhattan, under a strict contract that forbade any emotional burdens. When I needed a high-risk surgery to save my sight, I checked into the clinic alone, hiding the procedure from a husband who saw me as nothing more than a legal asset. I thought I could handle the darkness in silence. But while I was blind and bandaged in my hospital bed, my biological mother called, screaming that if I didn't produce a Harrington heir by the end of the fiscal year, she would cut off the life-saving treatments for my disabled sister. I was crawling on the cold hospital floor, desperately feeling for a cane I had dropped, when I touched a pair of expensive leather shoes. It was Clive. He was supposed to be in London closing a multi-million dollar deal, but there he was, watching his "contract wife" groveling in the dark like a beggar. He didn't walk away in disgust. He carried me to a five-thousand-dollar-a-night VIP suite and sat by my bed, listening in chilling silence as another voicemail from my mother filled the room, calling me a "useless broodmare" who was only worth the trust fund disbursements my marriage secured. I expected him to remind me of Clause 34B or hand me divorce papers now that I was "damaged goods." Instead, I felt his thumb brush a stray tear from my cheek, his presence shifting from a statue of ice into a predatory shield. "I thought I was just currency to you," I whispered, my voice trembling behind the gauze. "Just an investment." Clive didn't answer with words. He picked up his phone and called his head of legal with a single, terrifying command: "Kill the Douglas family’s credit lines. Every debt, every lien—trigger them all. If they want a war, I’ll give them a massacre." As he leaned down to kiss my bandaged forehead, I realized the contract was dead. My husband wasn't protecting an asset anymore; he was hunting the people who had dared to touch what belonged to him.

I sat on the edge of the examination table, the crinkle of the sanitary paper sounding like thunder in the sterile room. The doctor didn't even look at me as he confirmed the news: the pregnancy was over. My husband, Keyon, didn't answer my call. He just sent an automated text: "In a meeting." When I returned to our cold mansion, I found his iPad glowing with a message from his "muse," Katina. He was throwing her a secret gala tonight-on our third wedding anniversary. He told her he couldn't wait to escape the "boring" and "draining" atmosphere I created at home. Keyon didn't stumble in until 3 AM, smelling of Katina's perfume with a smear of red on his collar. When I handed him the divorce papers, he laughed in my face. He called me a "glorified housekeeper" with no skills and no future, promising I'd be back in three days begging for a subway ticket. He even bet his friends ten thousand dollars that I wouldn't survive a week without his name. He had his assistant cancel my credit cards and block my gate access before I even reached the end of the driveway. He wanted me to starve. He wanted me to crawl. He sat in his office, mocking the "desperate" woman who pawned her three-million-dollar wedding ring for scrap metal just to pay for a meal. I stood on the rainy curb, watching the man I had protected for three years treat my life like trash. He didn't know about the ultrasound I just threw in the bin. He didn't know that while he was calling me "dull," I was the one secretly writing the code that kept his billion-dollar empire from collapsing. As I slid into a cheap Uber, I opened a hidden, encrypted app on my phone. The screen refreshed to a dashboard for an account Keyon didn't know existed. The balance was ten figures long-the accumulated wealth of "Solaris," the world's most elusive tech genius. Keyon thinks he just evicted a parasite, but he's about to find out he just declared war on the only person who can hit "delete" on his entire life.

I was the titan of Wall Street until an indictment and an ankle monitor turned my penthouse into a gilded cage. To save face, I was forced into a marriage with Elza, a "mute" girl from the Schmidt family whom I treated as nothing more than a silent piece of furniture while my empire crumbled. The night I was poisoned at a high-society gala, a mysterious server in an oversized uniform saved my life with terrifying, clinical precision. They disappeared into the night, leaving me with a silver cufflink and a burning obsession to find the shadow who held my life in their hands. Back home, I took my frustration out on Elza, telling her she was "exhausting to look at" and "smelled like sickness" after her charity visits. Her own family treated her like a stray dog, trying to humiliate her at the next gala by dressing her in what they claimed was a cheap knockoff while whispering to the press that she was nothing but a high-end escort. "Stay out of my way," I would growl at her, never noticing the steel in her eyes. I sat at my table, watching my rivals' stocks plummet and wondering who "The Zero"—the legendary financial ghost—really was. I never suspected that the woman I ignored was the same one solving the equations that were currently burning Manhattan to the ground. The injustice peaked when Elza stood before the city's elite, not as a victim, but as a queen. She dropped over a hundred million dollars to buy back her family’s legacy, revealing a secret fortune that made my own empire look like pocket change. As I grabbed her wrist and saw the small red mole hidden beneath her watch, the truth hit me like a physical blow. The silent wife I had despised was the savior I had been hunting, and she was finally done playing the victim. "We have a lot to talk about, wife," I whispered, realizing I had been sleeping next to the most dangerous woman in the world.

The rain in Detroit was slick with grime when my family finally came to fetch me. They didn't want a reunion; they wanted a sacrificial lamb to marry into the Kaufman empire to save their failing business. I thought I was just being sold off, but the limo ride ended under a dark overpass where six hired thugs were waiting with chains. My own sister had ordered them to "break my spirit" so I’d be a shaking, pathetic mess by the time I reached the altar. They called me "Detroit trash" and sprayed air freshener when I sat on their leather seats. My stepmother wanted a video of me begging for my life, and my father was ready to trade me like a used car to a man everyone called a "vegetable." They expected a submissive country girl, unaware that I was a high-level "cleaner" who could snap a radius bone before they could even scream. When I finally reached the Kaufman estate, I found my fiancé, Barron, slumped in a wheelchair, drooling and silent. But as soon as the doors closed, the "invalid" grabbed my wrist with a grip of iron and whispered a command that changed everything. I didn't understand why my own blood was so desperate to see me destroyed. What had I ever done to deserve a hit squad and a forced marriage to a man they thought was a corpse? But Barron isn't a vegetable, and I'm not a victim. We just touched down at the Moon family gala in a matte-black helicopter, and as the doors slide open, the "broken" bride is about to show them exactly what happens when you throw away the wrong daughter. "If we're going to crash a party," Barron whispered, his eyes burning with lethal clarity, "we should make an entrance."
