The Lycan Alpha Doesn't Know me Chapter 1 ONE

Home faraway from Home

"Mom, what's happening?" Emma inquired, her voice trembling with worry.

"The Declan pack has arrived to our doorstep, Emma," her mother responded, her voice shaking. They are requesting payment for a past debt that we are unable to pay. "They are making threats towards us."

"What debt from the past?" Emma asked forcefully. "What is it that you are discussing?"

"It's a loan from years ago that your father took out," her mother clarified. "He believed he would be able to repay it, but... however, it didn't go as planned." And now the Declan group is requesting compensation.

"What is the amount they are asking for?" Emma inquired, her thoughts moving quickly.

"Her mother whispered about a hundred thousand dollars." Emma, it's not within our financial means. We will lose all our possessions.

"What is the status of the pack?" "Emma inquired." "Is it not possible for them to assist us?"

"They are too frightened," her mother confessed. The Declan pack is overly strong. "They fear there will be repercussions."

"What should I do?" Emma inquired, unable to do anything.

"Emma, please come back home," her mother begged. Your assistance is required. We are unable to achieve this by ourselves.

"Sure thing, mom," Emma responded, coming to a conclusion. I will return to the house. I am willing to do anything necessary to provide assistance.

"Emma, thank you," her mother whispered with a voice full of relief. "We will await your arrival."

After ending the call, Emma realized her life was going to be different from now on. She was returning to Texas, returning to her pack, and returning to the secrets she believed she had left in the past.

Emma was feeling anxious as she prepared her luggage. She had not returned to Texas for three years, ever since she departed to begin her new life in New York. However, given the predicament her family was in, she had no other option available.

Emma felt anxious as she entered the plane. What would she discover upon arriving at her residence? Is her family going to be out of harm's way?

The flight felt like it lasted an eternity, but eventually, Emma made it to Texas. She called for a taxi and went towards her family's ranch, feeling her heart racing in her chest.

Upon her arrival, tears welled up in Emma's mother's eyes as she waited for her. "She expressed gratitude for Emma's presence, giving her a tight hug."

Emma embraced her, experiencing a wave of comfort. She stated, "Mom, I am present." I will do everything necessary to offer assistance.

In the living room, her dad John was pacing anxiously. "Emma, we're in a difficult situation," he said. The Declan pack is requesting payment, and we don't have the money for it.

Emma gave a nod, her thoughts running quickly. "She mentioned she would speak with them." I will check what is possible.

However, just as she was about to go, Emma's mother grabbed her arm. "Emma, watch out," she murmured. One should not underestimate the Declan pack.

Emma agreed with a shiver running down her spine. She was aware that her mother was correct. The Declan pack was strong and determined to achieve their goals at any cost.

Walking to the taxi, Emma felt a strong sense of resolve. She was willing to go to any lengths to safeguard her family, even if it involved confronting the Declan pack by herself.

"Mom, I've arrived," Emma stated, embracing her mother closely. I am ready to do anything necessary to provide assistance.

"Emma, thank you," her mother responded, with tears in her eyes. "We find ourselves in a difficult situation." The Declan pack wants payment from us, but we don't have enough money.

"I will speak with them," Emma said confidently. I will try to find a solution.

Her mother cautioned Emma to be cautious. The Declan pack is not to be underestimated.

"I promise, mom," Emma stated. "I will proceed with caution."

"Emma, we've experimented with all possible solutions," her father said, walking back and forth in the living room. "We requested more time, we proposed making payments in parts... but nothing is effective."

"What is it they specifically desire?" Emma inquired.

Her father responded that they demanded the complete sum of $100,000 or else they would seize the ranch.

"We don't have enough money for it." Emma stated.

"I'm aware," Her father replied. "That is the reason why your assistance is needed. You need to speak with them please."

"Sure," Emma replied. "I can do that but can you clarify this more?"

"A few months ago is when it all began," her mother described. "The Declan group approached us, requesting repayment for a previous loan your father borrowed many years ago. We believed we had settled the payment, but it seems there was a clause we overlooked."

"Clause?"

"If we are unable to make the payment, ownership of the ranch would be transferred to them." My dad responded.

"That is absurd. Giving them the ranch is not something we can simply do." Emily butt in.

"I am aware," her father stated. "But that is what they are asking for."

"What do you mean?" Emma's voice trembled, her mind racing. "What are they asking for?" She asked hoping that her mother would mention money.

"An old promise, an exchange we made to save the pack." her mother replied, voice breaking. "We tried to stay out of their way, but they haven't forgotten. They want what we can't give."

"And that is?" Emma asked ,clearly running out of patience.

"You"-her mom replied.

"Why me?" Emma replied, she laughed loud, but stop when she realized her mother made no reaction.

"They want you to marry their son,Sage." Her mother explained further.

Emma tried to speak, but couldn't find words, Her world tilted on its axis.

The city, with all its challenges, now seemed safer compared to the danger looming over her and her family.

The Declans were not to be messed with; they were ruthless and unyielding and had nature at their finger tips.

Her parents' lives were at stake, her pack and the weight of their survival now rested on her shoulders. An arranged marriage?

She sank deeper into her chair, her small world , the haven she had built for herself had just come crashing down and she had no idea what to do to save her world.

I was once the heiress to the Solomon empire, but after it crumbled, I became the "charity case" ward of the wealthy Hyde family. For years, I lived in their shadows, clinging to the promise that Anson Hyde would always be my protector. That promise shattered when Anson walked into the ballroom with Claudine Chapman on his arm. Claudine was the girl who had spent years making my life a living hell, and now Anson was announcing their engagement to the world. The humiliation was instant. Guests sneered at my cheap dress, and a waiter intentionally sloshed champagne over me, knowing I was a nobody. Anson didn't even look my way; he was too busy whispering possessively to his new fiancée. I was a ghost in my own home, watching my protector celebrate with my tormentor. The betrayal burned. I realized I wasn't a ward; I was a pawn Anson had kept on a shelf until he found a better trade. I had no money, no allies, and a legal trust fund that Anson controlled with a flick of his wrist. Fleeing to the library, I stumbled into Dallas Koch-a titan of industry and my best friend's father. He was a wall of cold, absolute power that even the Hydes feared. "Marry me," I blurted out, desperate to find a shield Anson couldn't climb. Dallas didn't laugh. He pulled out a marriage agreement and a heavy fountain pen. "Sign," he commanded, his voice a low rumble. "But if you walk out that door with me, you never go back." I signed my name, trading my life for the only man dangerous enough to keep me safe.

I went to the City Clerk’s office for a routine copy of my marriage license to finalize a trust fund audit. I expected a simple piece of paper, but the clerk’s pitying look told me my entire life was a lie. "The license was never finalized, Ms. Oliver. In the eyes of the state, you are single." The three-hundred-guest wedding at the Plaza and the Vogue features meant nothing. My husband, Gray Cooley, had intentionally filed the documents with a "procedural defect" so he could discard me without a legal divorce. Moments later, an iCloud invite titled "Our Little Secret" popped up on my screen. It was a photo of my best friend, Brylee, holding a positive pregnancy test at our Hamptons estate. Gray’s text to her was the final blow: "Happy anniversary, babe. This baby is the best gift. Once the trust unlocks today, we’re done with the charade." I soon discovered they were even stealing my career, reassigning my architectural masterpiece to Brylee while preparing my eviction notice. Gray's mother called me a "barren mule" in a leaked recording, mocking the infertility I suffered after saving Gray’s life in a construction accident. I wasn't a wife; I was a three-year placeholder used to secure his inheritance. How could the man I bled for treat me like a disposable prop? How could my best friend carry his child while pretending to comfort me through my darkest moments? The betrayal burned until it turned into a cold, hard stone of fury. I didn't cry. Instead, I walked into the penthouse of the Barretts, the Cooleys' most powerful rivals. I signed a marriage contract with Kane Barrett, the man the tabloids called the "Beast of Wall Street." "I want a wedding," I told his father, my voice steady and lethal. "Bigger than the one I had with Gray." If they wanted me gone, they would have to watch me become the woman who owns their world.

I stood at my mother's open grave in the freezing rain, my heels sinking into the mud. The space beside me was empty. My husband, Hilliard Holloway, had promised to cherish me in bad times, but apparently, burying my mother didn't fit into his busy schedule. While the priest's voice droned on, a news alert lit up my phone. It was a livestream of the Metropolitan Charity Gala. There was Hilliard, looking impeccable in a custom tuxedo, with his ex-girlfriend Charla English draped over his arm. The headline read: "Holloway & English: A Power Couple Reunited?" When he finally returned to our penthouse at 2 AM, he didn't come alone-he brought Charla with him. He claimed she'd had a "medical emergency" at the gala and couldn't be left alone. I found a Tiffany diamond necklace on our coffee table meant for her birthday, and a smudge of her signature red lipstick on his collar. When I confronted him, he simply told me to stop being "hysterical" and "acting like a child." He had no idea I was seven months pregnant with his child. He thought so little of my grief that he didn't even bother to craft a convincing lie, laughing with his mistress in our home while I sat in the dark with a shattered heart and a secret life growing inside me. "He doesn't deserve us," I whispered to the darkness. I didn't scream or beg. I simply left a folder on his desk containing signed divorce papers and a forged medical report for a terminated pregnancy. I disappeared into the night, letting him believe he had successfully killed his own legacy through his neglect. Five years later, Hilliard walked into "The Vault," the city's most exclusive underground auction, looking for a broker to manage his estate. He didn't recognize me behind my Venetian mask, but he couldn't ignore the neon pink graffiti on his armored Maybach that read "DEADBEAT." He had no clue that the three brilliant triplets currently hacking his security system were the very children he thought had been erased years ago. This time, I wasn't just a wife in the way; I was the one holding all the cards.

I woke up on silk sheets that smelled of expensive cedar and cold sandalwood, a world away from my cramped apartment in Brooklyn. Beside me lay Ezra Gardner-my boss, the billionaire CEO of Gardner Holdings, and the man who could end my career with a snap of his fingers. He didn't offer an apology for the night before; instead, he looked at me with terrifying clarity and proposed a cold, calculated business arrangement. "Marriage. It stabilizes the board and solves the PR crisis before it begins." He dressed me in archival Chanel and sent me home in his Maybach, but my life was already falling apart. My boyfriend, Irving, claimed he had passed out early, yet his location data placed him at my best friend's apartment until three in the morning. When I tried to run, I realized Ezra was already ten steps ahead, tracking my movements and uncovering the secret I'd spent twenty years hiding: my connection to the powerful Senator Grimes. I was trapped between a CEO who treated me like a line item on a quarterly report and a boyfriend who had been using me while sleeping with my closest friend. I felt like a pawn in a game I didn't understand, wondering why a man like Ezra would walk up forty flights of stairs on a broken leg just to make sure I was safe. "Showtime, Mrs. Gardner." Standing on the red carpet in a gown that cost more than my life, I watched my cheating ex-boyfriend's face turn pale as Ezra claimed me in front of the world. I wasn't just an assistant anymore; I was a weapon, and it was time to burn their world down.

The heavy iron gates of the Wilderness Correction Camp groaned as they released me after three years of state-sponsored hell. I stood on the dirt road, clutching a plastic bag that held my entire life, waiting for the family that claimed they sent me there for "rehab." My brother, Brady, picked me up in a luxury SUV only to throw me out onto a deserted highway in the middle of a brewing storm. He told me I was a "public relations nightmare" and that the rain might finally wash the "stink" of the camp off me. He drove away, leaving me to limp miles through the mud on a snapped ankle. When I finally dragged myself to our family estate, my mother didn't offer a hug; she gasped in horror because my muddy clothes were ruining her Italian marble. They didn't give me my old room back. Instead, they banished me to a moldy gardener’s shack and hired a "babysitter" to make sure I didn't embarrass them further. My sister, Kaleigh, stood there in white cashmere, pretending to cry while clinging to her fiancé, Ambrose—the man who had once been mine. They all treated me like a volatile junkie, refusing to acknowledge that Kaleigh was the one who planted the drugs in my bag three years ago. They wanted to believe I was broken so they wouldn't have to feel guilty about the "wellness retreat" that was actually a torture chamber. I sat in the dark of that shed, feeling the cooling gel on the cigarette burns that covered my arms, and realized they had made a fatal mistake. They thought they had erased me, but I had returned with a roadmap of scars and a hidden satellite phone. At dinner, I didn't beg for their love. I simply rolled up my sleeves and showed them the price of their silence. As the wine spilled and the lies crumbled, I sent a single text to the only person I trusted: "I'm in. Let them simmer." The hunt was finally on.

The heavy thud of the release stamp was the only goodbye I got from the warden after five years in federal prison. I stepped out into the blinding sun, expecting the same flash of paparazzi bulbs that had seen me dragged away in handcuffs, but there was only a single black limousine idling on the shoulder of the road. Inside sat my mother and sister, clutching champagne and looking at my frayed coat with pure disgust. They didn't offer a welcome home; instead, they tossed a thick legal document onto the table and told me I was dead to the city. "Gavin and I are getting engaged," my sister Mia sneered, flicking a credit card at me like I was a stray dog. "He doesn't need a convict ex-fiancée hanging around." Even after I saved their lives from an armed kidnapping attempt by ramming the attackers off the road, they rewarded me by leaving me stranded in the dirt. When I finally ran into Gavin, the man who had framed me, he pinned me against a wall and threatened to send me back to a cell if I ever dared to show my face at their wedding. They had stolen my biotech research, ruined my name, and let me rot for half a decade while they lived off my brilliance. They thought they had broken me, leaving me with nothing but an expired chapstick and a few old photos in a plastic bag. What they didn't know was that I had spent those five years becoming "Dr. X," a shadow consultant with five hundred million dollars in crypto and a secret that would bring the city to its knees. I wasn't just a victim anymore; I was a weapon, and I was pregnant with the heir they thought they had erased. I walked into the Melton estate and made an offer to the most powerful man in New York. "I'll save your grandfather's life," I told Horatio Melton, staring him down. "But the price is your last name. I'm taking back what's mine, and I'm starting with the man who thinks he's marrying my sister."
