'Am I dreaming?' Zak Vance wondered. The woman standing before him was the spitting image of his late wife-same eyes, same face. It was as if she had walked straight out of his memories and into his office. "What the hell?" he muttered under his breath, unable to understand what he was seeing. He stood up abruptly, his chair scraping against the floor, his eyes never leaving her. "You're Amy May?" he asked, his voice tinged with shock. Amy nodded, offering a polite smile. "Yes, Sir." Zak's eyes continued to scrutinize her. He was struggling to wrap his mind around the situation. How could this woman, this complete stranger, look so identical to his wife? Was it possible that she had a twin? But no, he was certain she didn't. She only had Nate, her older brother. . . Amy May woke up with no recollection of who she was. Rescued by a woman who took her in and became her mother, Amy was given a fresh start. Yet, she remained determined to uncover the truth about her past and reclaim the memories she had lost. Her search led her back to Metro City, the place where she was first found. Meanwhile, billionaire Zachary Vance, a widower and father of two, was dealing with a devastating loss. His wife, the woman he had loved more than life itself and vowed to spend forever with, had died in a tragic accident. The pain he felt was like a dagger plunged into his heart a million times. Still, for the sake of his young children, Zachary knew he had to rise above his pain and be the father they needed. Five years later, while at work, he came face-to-face with his wife-the same woman he had buried-standing in his office, applying for a job as his secretary. He was sure he was losing his mind. She had a new name and an entirely different personality. Desperate for answers, he needed to find out who she truly was. And if she really was his wife, then what the hell happened to her?

"The stepmother of the princess lied to the prince, accusing the princess of stealing the queen's jewelry... Who is the queen?"

A man in his early thirties asked, glancing at the two boys, each sitting next to him on a couch in a large mansion.

His disheveled dirty blonde hair and bored blue eyes betrayed his lack of enthusiasm as he read from the book in his hands.

One of the boys, both younger versions of the man and identical, eagerly raised his hand and answered, "The Prince's mother."

The other boy rolled his eyes, annoyed. "I was going to say that. The queen is the prince's mother."

The man nodded and marked something for them in their books.

"That's right,"

He exhaled deeply, and continued, "But the prince had had enough of the stepmother and banished her from the palace. Why do you think the prince did that?"

He frowned slightly, wondering if his children could figure the answer to the question out.

He looked at the two of them, and they seemed lost in thought. They're only six, after all.

"Let's backtrack," the man said with a smile. "The stepmother lived in the palace with her stepdaughter, the princess. She accused the princess of stealing the queen's necklace, but in the end, she was the one banished. Why did the prince banish the stepmother when she did nothing but report her stepdaughter?"

One of the boys raised his hand excitedly, "I know, I know! I remember! I bet you can't, Jake!" The boy cleared his throat and answered confidently, "Because the prince didn't want anything bad to happen to the princess."

The man gave his son a blank stare. "Oh, is that right?"

"Dad, you know Vik is wrong! He's always wrong!" Jake shouted with a frown, and said, "The answer is plain and simple. The prince and the princess were together so the princess couldn't have stolen it at the time she was accused of having done that."

Vik shook his head, frowning. "That's not plain and simple, Jake. At all."

The man smiled, marking something in their books before moving on. "Alright, now guess what happens after the stepmother is banished."

"They live happily ever after?" Vik answered, still frowning.

"Exactly!" The man nodded with a grin, ruffling Vik's hair proudly. "I think this is the first time you got a question right, son." Vik nodded, looking very proud.

Jake scoffed, shaking his head. "What's he gonna do without me? Dad, next time, let's do our homework separately."

The man sighed. "That would mean reading this twice, and I'd rather not feel like I'm being punished." He added, "Now, you two can play for two hours, but after that, it's off to bed. I'll check in on you then."

They nodded, and he helped them pack their books into their backpacks before heading to his bedroom.

With a deep sigh, he sat on his king-sized bed, his eyes drawn to the picture frame on the vanity. He picked it up, staring at it-mostly at his wife in the photo.

She had died a year after giving birth to their children in a horrific accident. Her body had been so damaged, it was completely unrecognizable.

He remembered how crazy he'd felt then.

How he wanted to believe his wife wasn't the one in that car.

If it hadn't been for his brother-in-law, he might have lost himself completely, forgetting that he had children to care for and a company to manage.

For the sake of his children, he stopped obsessing and tried to move forward.

But deep down, he hasn't. He missed her. She was the best thing that ever happened to him.

Ring, ring...

He set the frame down and answered his ringing phone. It was Nate, his friend and brother-in-law.

"What's up?" he asked, his tone flat.

"Hey, man! Guess what-I've found someone perfect for you!" Nate said, his voice upbeat and excited.

"Someone perfect? You know there's no one perfect..."

"Eieesh! Come on, Zak, don't start with that," Nate scolded. "It's been five years. You need to move on, at least for the boys. Those boys need a mother, and I'm trying to help you out here."

Zak sighed, running a hand through his hair. "Fine. I'm only free at night tomorrow. I have a long day at work. Work's been brutal-no secretary yet, and it's driving me crazy."

There was a short silence before Nate spoke up, "Hey, Zak, this girl isn't the kind of girl you'd sleep with and forget the next day. She's special-a keeper, I assure you of that. She won't even agree to come to your house. She's like an angel... pure and innocent."

"Then why don't you go for her, Nate?" Zak asked. "You're single, and it's about time you settled down."

Nate scoffed, and replied, "She's more your type. Believe me, she is. You won't regret it. Trust me."

"Alright, what's her name?" Zak asked, his curiosity piqued.

"Leanne Millers."

I was four months pregnant, weighing over two hundred pounds, and my heart was failing from experimental treatments forced on me as a child. My doctor looked at me with clinical detachment and told me I was in a death sentence: if I kept the baby, I would die, and if I tried to remove it, I would die. Desperate for a lifeline, I called my father, Francis Acosta, to tell him I was sick and pregnant. I expected a father's love, but all I got was a cold, sharp blade of a voice. "Then do it quietly," he said. "Don't embarrass Candi. Her debutante ball is coming up." He didn't just reject me; he erased me. My trust fund was frozen, and I was told I was no longer an Acosta. My fiancé, Auston, had already discarded me, calling me a "bloated whale" while he looked for a thinner, wealthier replacement. I left New York on a Greyhound bus, weeping into a bag of chips, a broken woman the world considered a mistake. I couldn't understand how my own father could tell me to die "quietly" just to save face for a party. I didn't know why I had been a lab rat for my family’s pharmaceutical ambitions, or how they could sleep at night while I was left to rot in the gray drizzle of the city. Five years later, the doors of JFK International Airport slid open. I stepped onto the marble floor in red-soled stilettos, my body lean, lethal, and carved from years of blood and sweat. I wasn't the "whale" anymore; I was a ghost coming back to haunt them. With my daughter by my side and a medical reputation that terrified the global elite, I was ready to dismantle the Acosta empire piece by piece. "Tell Francis to wash his neck," I whispered to the skyline. "I'm home."

I sat on the edge of the examination table, the crinkle of the sanitary paper sounding like thunder in the sterile room. The doctor didn't even look at me as he confirmed the news: the pregnancy was over. My husband, Keyon, didn't answer my call. He just sent an automated text: "In a meeting." When I returned to our cold mansion, I found his iPad glowing with a message from his "muse," Katina. He was throwing her a secret gala tonight-on our third wedding anniversary. He told her he couldn't wait to escape the "boring" and "draining" atmosphere I created at home. Keyon didn't stumble in until 3 AM, smelling of Katina's perfume with a smear of red on his collar. When I handed him the divorce papers, he laughed in my face. He called me a "glorified housekeeper" with no skills and no future, promising I'd be back in three days begging for a subway ticket. He even bet his friends ten thousand dollars that I wouldn't survive a week without his name. He had his assistant cancel my credit cards and block my gate access before I even reached the end of the driveway. He wanted me to starve. He wanted me to crawl. He sat in his office, mocking the "desperate" woman who pawned her three-million-dollar wedding ring for scrap metal just to pay for a meal. I stood on the rainy curb, watching the man I had protected for three years treat my life like trash. He didn't know about the ultrasound I just threw in the bin. He didn't know that while he was calling me "dull," I was the one secretly writing the code that kept his billion-dollar empire from collapsing. As I slid into a cheap Uber, I opened a hidden, encrypted app on my phone. The screen refreshed to a dashboard for an account Keyon didn't know existed. The balance was ten figures long-the accumulated wealth of "Solaris," the world's most elusive tech genius. Keyon thinks he just evicted a parasite, but he's about to find out he just declared war on the only person who can hit "delete" on his entire life.
