Gwen's POV
The forest is eerily quiet; I can only hear my growling stomach.
I know I shouldn't be so close to a pack territory as a rogue but there is hardly any other choice. Food first.
Besides, any wolf I saw would most likely be an omega like myself. I could easily deal with those.
Confident, I go further into the forest, following my nose as I rush through. Any animal would be fine, I just needed something quickly.
The moon is out tonight and a cool breeze is blowing. If I was anywhere else, I would have been able to appreciate all this. But I could not.
I'm too close to the Silver Moon pack. The Alpha of this pack was rumored to be extremely merciless to rogues.
Infact, he was a legend- slaying any rogue he spotted on the spot. The stories had it that he had killed up to a thousand rogues.
I move quietly and quickly through the forest, experienced after years of running and hiding. After my parents were killed by their pack for a crime they did not commit, I fled.
Since then, I've always been on the run- always eating scraps and forever hateful of stupid pack wolves.
I seethe through my teeth remembering all my encounters with pack wolves. They were snobbish useless dogs who looked down on us for being different.
While I'm deep in my thoughts, I hear something move. I come to a halt and turn slightly to see what the sound was.
Everywhere is still; my heart begins to pound violently.
Oh no.
I sense the aura before the figure darts towards me. In the blink of an eye, something huge crashes on me and I fall to the ground.
My head lands roughly on the earth and my ears begin to ring. For a moment, I cannot hear or see.
"Tell me now, little wolf- what pack do you belong to?" I hear a deep, gruttal voice hiss.
My vision is blurry, I can barely make out the person above me. From his scent and force, I can tell at once- he's an Alpha.
A very powerful one.
"W-w-wait...food. Was looking." My sentence does not make any sense but it's all my brain can get out.
The man above me growls. I can hear his claws growing; extending to kill me.
Is this how it's going to end?
My vision finally clears and I see him.
For a second, I am startled by the pure beauty of this man. Under the moonlight, his pale skin glows; his green eyes shine with madness and his canines point sharp.
Just when I think the claw will land and he will pull my head right off my shoulders; he stops.
Infact, I stop as well.
We're stuck- looking into each other's eyes with growing confusion.
There's a word swimming in the back of my head; one I did not expect at the moment of my death.
Mate.
Immediately, this strange man rises from my body. He's shaking his head as if he cannot believe it. Something on his neck catches the moon's pale light.
It's a necklace with a half moon pendant. My heart drops and I feel like I've been knocked by the wind.
He's the alpha of the Silver Star Pack.
My mate is a pack wolf.
A disgusting, horrifying pack wolf.
I can feel my lungs losing breath; my hands are shaking but it's not from fear. It's from rage.
Why was the moon goddess so cruel as to pair me with a sick pack creature like him?
I rise to my feet, a little dizzy from the collision. My mate looks at me; his own eyes are burning with anger as well. Oh the irony- the rogue hating alpha had a rogue for his mate.
"You will not speak of this," the alpha hisses. Before I can shout back at him, I hear some loud footsteps. The heavy stench of beta wolves follows and I have to hold myself not to fall from fear.
An omega was meant to crumble in the presence of such powerful wolves.
"Alpha Liam! The rogues we were after got away. They left some tracks though, so we'll be able to find them soon." A tall, muscular man says. Afterwards, his brown, deep eyes fall on me.
"You caught one..."
The three other wolves behind him all have their eyes on me. I want to cower; I want to hide under a rock and cry.
I don't though. Instead, I look them straight in the eyes.
"Ahhh, feisty little wolf you've got here, Alpha. What do you plan to do with her?"
Liam glances at me; he's warning me not to say a word. Threatening me.
I look away, swallow the poison in my throat.
"She'll come back with us. I will take her as a slave." Liam takes me by the arm forcefully and I feel hot tingles over the spot.
"Let me go. Let me go, you filthy dogs!" I bend and let my canines piece the alpha's hand. I bite it with so much force that I draw blood.
However, the four betas laugh.
"I see why she caught your fancy, Liam. You'd have lots of fun with this one. Ha!"
My blood boils at this statement and I growl madly at the fool that spoke. He only laughs harder, making me angrier.
Liam sighs and lets my arm go. Before I can think of what to do, he whisks me up and throws me over his shoulder.
"Behave yourself, girl."
He tells his packmates to go ahead of him and he'd be right behind. They agree and run back the way they came.
I draw my short claws over Liam's exposed back in a feat to somehow make him drop me. I bite the flesh and kick his stomach.
He's standing still, almost as if he is actually a statue.
After a while of uselessly biting and kicking, I feel his arms move up my thighs.
"It's taking a lot from me not to fuck and kill you right here, girl. Let this be a warning."
Immediately, I stop my attempts and the alpha begins to walk down the thick forest in the direction of the Silver Moon pack.
All I wanted was a fucking rodent to eat...
