The prophecy of the two Alphas Chapter 1 1

I'm Everly, a werewolf living in a pack that never really accepted me. My days are filled with loneliness and contemptuous looks, but I have learned to endure in silence. Being the daughter of the pack leader hasn't made my life any easier. On the contrary, it has amplified expectations and disappointments. My father, Alaric, is a respected but ruthless leader, and he has always favored my brother, Kael, over me. This blatant favoritism has driven a wedge between us.

The sun was barely rising when I left our house, a large wooden building nestled in the heart of the forest. The fresh morning air was invigorating, but I knew the day ahead of me would be far from pleasant. As I crossed the yard, I passed several members of the pack who gave me cold looks, some whispering among themselves. I clenched my fists and lowered my head, accustomed to this silent hostility.

I headed towards the training room, a large open space where the pack members practice and prepare for possible dangers. Kael was already there, giving orders and demonstrating combat moves. The other werewolves listened to him with respectful attention. My brother had always been the prodigal son, the ideal heir in our father's eyes.

- Everly, you're late, as usual," Kael said when he saw me approaching.

- I'm not late, I retorted, my face impassive. Training starts in five minutes.

He shrugged his shoulders, a mocking smile stretching his lips.

- Regardless, we don't need you here. Why not go berry picking or do something useful for once?

The others snickered, and I felt my cheeks heat up with shame and anger. I didn't answer and headed towards the end of the room, training alone as usual. My movements were precise and fluid, the result of long hours of solo practice. Yet, I knew that no matter my skills, they would never be recognized by my father or brother.

After training, I decided to visit Luna, my best friend. Luna and I had grown up together, and despite the challenges in my life, she had always been there for me. His house was located at the other end of the village, a charming little house surrounded by wild flowers. When I arrived, I knocked on the door, and she opened it almost immediately, a wide smile lighting up her face.

- Everly! Come in, it's been a long time since I've seen you.

I smiled back and entered. The warmth of his home and his warm welcome were always a comfort to me.

- Sorry, I've been busy with... everything," I said, sighing. How are you ?

- Good, she replied, leading me into the kitchen. I made some tea, come sit down.

We sat at the table, and she poured me a steaming cup of tea. His look became more serious.

- How are things going with your father and Kael?

I shrugged my shoulders, trying to appear indifferent.

- As per usual. Kael is always the favorite, and my father only sees his exploits. Nothing new.

Luna took my hand and squeezed it gently.

- Everly, you are so much stronger than you think. Don't let them bring you down. One day they will see your value.

I smile weakly. Luna's words were comforting, but it was difficult to remain hopeful. We continued to talk about everything and nothing, and for a moment I forgot my worries. But this tranquility was short-lived.

On my way home, I ran into my father, Alaric, in the entrance hall. He was an imposing man, with piercing eyes and a rigid posture. He fixed me with a cold gaze.

- Everly, I need to talk to you.

My heart sank, but I kept an impassive face.

- Yes, father?

- I've heard complaints about you, he began. It seems like you're not contributing as much as you should to the pack. You need to take your responsibilities more seriously.

I gritted my teeth, holding back a scathing response. I knew that defending myself would only make things worse.

- I'm doing my best, I replied calmly. I train hard and try to...

- Your best is not enough, he interrupted. Look at your brother, Kael. He gives everything for this pack. You should take inspiration from him.

The constant comparison with Kael was unbearable, but I bowed slightly, as if to signify my acceptance.

- I'll try to do better, I said simply.

Alaric nodded, visibly dissatisfied but ready to end the conversation. I quickly retreated to my room, seeking refuge in solitude. My personal space was my sanctuary, a place where I could be myself without judgment.

Sitting on my bed, I thought about Luna's words and my meeting with my father. Anger and frustration boiled inside me, but I knew I had to channel it into something productive. I was determined to prove my worth, not only to my pack, but to myself as well.

Dusk was beginning to fall when I decided to go out for a night run in the forest. Transforming into a werewolf was always a liberating experience, a moment where I could connect with my true self. The forest was dense and dark, but my keen senses guided my steps with confidence.

As I ran through the trees, I felt a familiar presence and turned to see Luna, also transformed. She followed me, as she often did.

- I knew I would find you here, she said, approaching me.

We ran together in silence for a while, relishing the freedom our animal form afforded us. After a while, we stopped near a stream, returning to our human form.

- You know, Everly, you are the best friend I ever had, Luna said, sitting down on a stone. I don't want to see you suffer because of your father and Kael.

I sat next to her, touched by her sincerity.

- Thank you, Luna. You too are the best friend I ever had. Sometimes you're the only reason I'm holding on.

Luna smiled at me, and we stood there, enjoying the quiet of the night forest. Still, part of me couldn't help but wonder how long I could endure this marginalization. I was ready to fight for my place in the pack, but I knew the road would be long and arduous.

Going home that night, I felt more determined than ever. I had Luna by my side, and I knew I had to find a way to prove my value. No matter the obstacles, I wouldn't give up. I was Everly, daughter of the chief of the pack, and I deserved my place as much as anyone else.

Thus ended one more day in my complicated life. Tomorrow, I would continue to fight, to train, and to seek ways to gain the respect and recognition that I deserved. My journey would be difficult, but I was ready to face it, head high and valiant heart.

I stood at my mother’s open grave in the freezing rain, my heels sinking into the mud. The space beside me was empty. My husband, Hilliard Holloway, had promised to cherish me in bad times, but apparently, burying my mother didn't fit into his busy schedule. While the priest’s voice droned on, a news alert lit up my phone. It was a livestream of the Metropolitan Charity Gala. There was Hilliard, looking impeccable in a custom tuxedo, with his ex-girlfriend Charla English draped over his arm. The headline read: "Holloway & English: A Power Couple Reunited?" When he finally returned to our penthouse at 2 AM, he didn't come alone—he brought Charla with him. He claimed she’d had a "medical emergency" at the gala and couldn't be left alone. I found a Tiffany diamond necklace on our coffee table meant for her birthday, and a smudge of her signature red lipstick on his collar. When I confronted him, he simply told me to stop being "hysterical" and "acting like a child." He had no idea I was seven months pregnant with his child. He thought so little of my grief that he didn't even bother to craft a convincing lie, laughing with his mistress in our home while I sat in the dark with a shattered heart and a secret life growing inside me. "He doesn't deserve us," I whispered to the darkness. I didn't scream or beg. I simply left a folder on his desk containing signed divorce papers and a forged medical report for a terminated pregnancy. I disappeared into the night, letting him believe he had successfully killed his own legacy through his neglect. Five years later, Hilliard walked into "The Vault," the city's most exclusive underground auction, looking for a broker to manage his estate. He didn't recognize me behind my Venetian mask, but he couldn't ignore the neon pink graffiti on his armored Maybach that read "DEADBEAT." He had no clue that the three brilliant triplets currently hacking his security system were the very children he thought had been erased years ago. This time, I wasn't just a wife in the way; I was the one holding all the cards.

Being second best is practically in my DNA. My sister got the love, the attention, the spotlight. And now, even her damn fiancé. Technically, Rhys Granger was my fiancé now-billionaire, devastatingly hot, and a walking Wall Street wet dream. My parents shoved me into the engagement after Catherine disappeared, and honestly? I didn't mind. I'd crushed on Rhys for years. This was my chance, right? My turn to be the chosen one? Wrong. One night, he slapped me. Over a mug. A stupid, chipped, ugly mug my sister gave him years ago. That's when it hit me-he didn't love me. He didn't even see me. I was just a warm-bodied placeholder for the woman he actually wanted. And apparently, I wasn't even worth as much as a glorified coffee cup. So I slapped him right back, dumped his ass, and prepared for disaster-my parents losing their minds, Rhys throwing a billionaire tantrum, his terrifying family plotting my untimely demise. Obviously, I needed alcohol. A lot of alcohol. Enter him. Tall, dangerous, unfairly hot. The kind of man who makes you want to sin just by existing. I'd met him only once before, and that night, he just happened to be at the same bar as my drunk, self-pitying self. So I did the only logical thing: I dragged him into a hotel room and ripped off his clothes. It was reckless. It was stupid. It was completely ill-advised. But it was also: Best. Sex. Of. My. Life. And, as it turned out, the best decision I'd ever made. Because my one-night stand isn't just some random guy. He's richer than Rhys, more powerful than my entire family, and definitely more dangerous than I should be playing with. And now, he's not letting me go.
