Love Me Again Ex-Wife Chapter 1 Fell In Love

Roseline's POV

I stare blankly at my coffee mug in front of me.

Tears of anger and pain roll down my cheeks, mixing with the untouched coffee that's been situated in front of me.

I can't eat anything these days without throwing it up the next minute.

I've lost my appetite for happiness.

I took a step of faith two years ago for the first man I ever loved and all I've gotten since then is pain and betrayal, he'll never love me, I should have realized this earlier.

I hear footsteps approaching and I lift my head to see.

"Good morning!" The blonde girl my husband brought in last night greeted me in her shrill tone.

For the first time in my life, I don't feel guilty for snubbing someone because they disregarded my feelings first.

I can't continue like this.

The blonde lady walks into the kitchen with an appalling boldness.

Her beauty is so outstanding that for a moment I feel Sinclair didn't fall in love with me all this time because he finds me unattractive.

"Please pardon my behavior, my throat feels dry," she said, grabbing a bottle of water from the fridge.

I didn't feel the need to fight with her because I was done trying, she could do whatever she wanted. I'm leaving.

She makes a guttural sound as she drinks the water, I pretend not to hear it.

She starts walking briskly out of the kitchen and she suddenly stops at the door, which grabs my attention and my eye connects with hers.

Smiling, she said "You know.....," she pauses as if cooking her words carefully, "I hope you know you have a great guy up there?..... I'd kill to have someone like him," she smirks, stretching her lips.

I gulped. Why is she telling me that?

I didn't want to say anything to her but the question came out before I could rethink it in my head, "Did Sinclair tell you to tell me this?" My voice sounded harsher than I intended.

This is a man I have done everything possible in the last couple of years, waiting patiently for when he would love me, but no he never did. Instead, he loved his DEAD ex-girlfriend more.

The blonde lady lets out a mocking laugh, "You really think I'd do that if he asked me? I prioritize my customers and I'd do anything to make sure I don't lose them," she glances at her watch, "I'm just telling you because he did something that.... I've never seen any man in my lifetime do, what goes on with you and him is none of my business, I have clients to meet up with, have a nice day," She says and scurries off the kitchen. The opening and closing of the main door signifies she has left and my emotions are jeopardized after she leaves.

What did Sinclair do? Why did she say that?

After seeing her last night, I made up my mind to do one thing. Get a Divorce.

As I drown in my thoughts a familiar cologne hits my nose alerting my senses, without looking up I can tell who it is.

I wanted to ask him what that lady was talking about but I know he won't answer me. He doesn't look at me for more than three seconds, so there's no need to try.

I just have to tell him what I had in mind to tell him today.

I turn to look at him as he tries to get something from the fridge.

"I want a Divorce!" I state with firmness in my tone.

He stills. His muscles tense, and I notice his jaw twitch.

The room gets heavily silent and he doesn't respond.

He gets what he wants from the fridge and he closes it giving me a better view of his chest.

He has never been this bare around me.

His brief boxers hanging low beneath his gray sweatpants do little to conceal his alluring physique.

My mind spirals with thoughts of what he did with that lady last night but I restrain myself from giving it a deep thought for my sanity's sake.

He goes around the dining room and sets the water on the table. He is always in a hurry to go to work, he never has breakfast with me. The fact that he is sitting here, relaxed, appalls me because this is the longest he has been around me.

I cleared my throat again, "I said, I want a Divorce!" I say with much confidence now and he snaps his head at me and I flinch a little from the intensity in his eyes.

His face twitches with irritation but there's something else I see in his eyes seconds later that stuns me. I see a hint of...what I would call concern, or maybe it is one of the fantasies I usually have about him. I quickly snapped out of it so I won't crush the little dignity I was holding onto.

But what he says next shocks me to my core, "What happened to your eyes?" He asks casually sipping his water.

The look in his eyes was replaced with the one I'm familiar with...iciness.

I realize he isn't ready to answer my question and he is just looking for a way to divert the topic because he never cared about me, what I wear, do, say, eat or drink. Why is acting like he cares now?

"Sinclair, that's not the answer to my question. I want to leave this marriage, I want a Divorce!" My tone is uncivil and cold.

"Who did you talk to? Because this doesn't sound like you," His tone was strangely calm, he sounded amused, I guess by my confidence to speak to him this way.

I could deduce the fact that he was mocking my confidence.

"Who I talk to, is none of your business, you never cared, stop the pretense," The tone of my voice was shocking to me but I didn't stop, my mind was already made up, "I want out! Sinclair. I want you to let me go since you won't love me," I say the last part in a whisper.

I blink back the tears hanging over my eyelids.

"Don't repeat that sentence again!" He grits, "We are not getting divorced. I want you to understand that and stick it inside your memory, don't ever bring up this topic again, you won't like the outcome,"

My five-year-old daughter was dying in the ICU, her heartbeat replaced by the continuous, electronic scream of a flatline. I gripped her cold hand, my throat sealed shut by a terror so absolute I couldn't even cry out. I dialed my husband Grayson's private number, the one reserved only for me and his assistants. He declined the call instantly. A second later, a text buzzed against my palm: "In a meeting. Do not disturb. Stop calling." Five miles away, Grayson was at a luxury gala, adjusting his silk tie and laughing with Belle Escobar. He told her I was just being "dramatic" and using our daughter's "fever" as an excuse to avoid the event. He had no idea Effie's heart had already stopped. When I finally reached our penthouse, soaked from the rain and carrying Effie's small socks in a plastic bag, Grayson didn't even look at me. He snapped at me for ruining the hardwood floors and asked if I'd left Effie with the nanny just to "feel sorry for myself." Three days later, while I buried our daughter in a small, lonely ceremony, Grayson was at the Hamptons. Belle posted a photo of him golfing with the caption: "A mental health day with the boys." He didn't even attend the funeral, but he returned home demanding I clear out Effie's room to make a study for Belle's son. The injustice burned through me until there was nothing left. I swallowed a handful of sleeping pills, desperate to join my daughter. But instead of the darkness, I woke up to blinding lights and the scent of Grayson's expensive cologne. I was standing in a ballroom, wearing a blue silk dress I had already burned. Above me, a banner read: "Happy 5th Birthday Kaiden & Effie." I was back, exactly one year before the tragedy. This time, I wasn't going to be the grieving wife. I was going to be their worst nightmare.

I stood at my mother’s open grave in the freezing rain, my heels sinking into the mud. The space beside me was empty. My husband, Hilliard Holloway, had promised to cherish me in bad times, but apparently, burying my mother didn't fit into his busy schedule. While the priest’s voice droned on, a news alert lit up my phone. It was a livestream of the Metropolitan Charity Gala. There was Hilliard, looking impeccable in a custom tuxedo, with his ex-girlfriend Charla English draped over his arm. The headline read: "Holloway & English: A Power Couple Reunited?" When he finally returned to our penthouse at 2 AM, he didn't come alone—he brought Charla with him. He claimed she’d had a "medical emergency" at the gala and couldn't be left alone. I found a Tiffany diamond necklace on our coffee table meant for her birthday, and a smudge of her signature red lipstick on his collar. When I confronted him, he simply told me to stop being "hysterical" and "acting like a child." He had no idea I was seven months pregnant with his child. He thought so little of my grief that he didn't even bother to craft a convincing lie, laughing with his mistress in our home while I sat in the dark with a shattered heart and a secret life growing inside me. "He doesn't deserve us," I whispered to the darkness. I didn't scream or beg. I simply left a folder on his desk containing signed divorce papers and a forged medical report for a terminated pregnancy. I disappeared into the night, letting him believe he had successfully killed his own legacy through his neglect. Five years later, Hilliard walked into "The Vault," the city's most exclusive underground auction, looking for a broker to manage his estate. He didn't recognize me behind my Venetian mask, but he couldn't ignore the neon pink graffiti on his armored Maybach that read "DEADBEAT." He had no clue that the three brilliant triplets currently hacking his security system were the very children he thought had been erased years ago. This time, I wasn't just a wife in the way; I was the one holding all the cards.

I arrived at the hotel with Julian's favorite takeout, ready to surprise my fiancé before our big merger. But the moment I swiped the keycard, the silence of the hallway felt heavy and wrong. Inside, a red-soled stiletto lay on the marble floor-the same one I'd watched my best friend Lila try on at Saks last week. Through the cracked bedroom door, I watched Julian's back arch as Lila looked me straight in the eye and smiled, wrapping her legs tighter around him to mock my heartbreak. I fled to the penthouse to hide, only to find Grafton, Julian's "crippled" brother, waiting in the dark. To my horror, the man who was supposed to be paralyzed stood up from his wheelchair, gripped my chin with cold fingers, and forced me to sign a contract that gave him control of my family's shares. He knew about my mother's secret medical bills and used them to buy my silence, effectively turning my life into a calculated game of corporate chess. The betrayal tasted like acid, and the injustice of it all burned in my throat. My fiancé was a liar, my best friend was a thief, and the man now controlling my fate was a predator who had been faking his disability for years. I couldn't understand how everyone I trusted had turned out to be a monster. I was trapped between a man who cheated on me and a man who wanted to own me, with no way out and no one to turn to. But when Julian came looking for me, Grafton didn't hide; he stood tall, looming over me with a possessive glint in his eyes. "Help me destroy Julian," I rasped, realizing that to survive the Faulkner men, I had to become the most dangerous player of them all.
