Chapter 1 The Weight of Rejection.

Have you ever felt so desperate that you wanted to give up on life, without turning to your family for help? This was the life of Andrea.

The squeaking of rats echoed through the room, a haunting reminder of the desolation that surrounds Andrea. The paintings on the wall were already peeling off, giving room for different kinds of insects.

The night is long gone, and the dim light from the room casted a reflection of what the room looks like.

Entering into her room, Andrea heaved a sigh of relief having been done with the day's chores. She changed her clothes, as she did not deem it necessary to bathe because she was so tired.

Andrea jumped into her bed, her black long hair laying on the bed, and at the same time covering her slender body.

"Andrea, Andrea".

The woman thundered, as she made her way to the room. The echoing could be heard as it was meant to wake Andrea from her peaceful sleep.

One would look pitifully at her, as she has been stressed from the previous day's chores. The echoes of her name could not wake her up from her sleep, as she has fallen into a deep slumber.

"What is wrong with this good for nothing girl, Is she supposed to be sleeping by this time?"

The woman lashed out asking no one in particular. When she saw no sign of Andrea waking up nor coming out from her room, she went to bring a stick from the piles of woods outside the house. She came to the room, and hit the stick on Andrea's body causing her to wake up.

"Mother, I have not had enough sleep in a while now due to the plethora of work left for me to do the previous day".

Andrea said as tears dropped on her cheeks.

"Don't you dare call me Mother. How many times do I have to tell you that?

She hesitantly asked as she lashed on Andrea again.

"You ungrateful child quietly go, and prepare breakfast for the pack, and make sure every nook, and cranny of this pack is in order.

The woman commanded, giving her a scornful look.

"But the day hasn't gotten bright yet, and the others are still sleeping" Andrea muttered to herself as she made to leave her room.

The werewolves from the Redwood pack could not be seen awake in the wee hours of the morning. They sleep so well at night, and get energised to start the day's activities.

Andrea wakes up before any other person in the Redwood Pack. She has been treated like a slave of the pack due to the fact that she is woofless. She eats from the leftovers, and has never experienced what it means to live a healthy life.

As she was going to the kitchen, a hand grabbed her from behind. She turned, and saw her worst enemy, smiling sheepishly at her.

She was surprised to see him at that moment, and imagined why he was there at that point in time.

Klaus has been a pain in the ass. He has always been pampered, and given the best things of life.

Being the Alpha's son, he gets anything he wants, and deals with anyone that gets in his way. He has no regards for anyone, and finds anything under the skirt mind-blowing.

"What are you doing here, do you need anything?"

She wondered what on earth he could be doing there, instead of sleeping like his fellow wolves.

"I want you", Klaus replied.

"What do you mean you want me?" Andrea asked as she seemed nervous.

Klaus carried her on his shoulders, and left for the store room. She struggled to free herself from his grip.

"What do you think you are doing?" She asked as she has been careful of what comes out from her mouth.

No one talks to the soon to be Alpha anyhow unless you want to be dealt with.

Klaus upon entering the store room flinged her to the wall, as if she is an object meant to be thrown anyhow.

He can't believe he just carried Andrea, a wolf-less girl. He felt disgusted.

He gave her a heavy slap as she tried to stand.

"Be on your knees you whore. I said on your knees. I can see you got some nerves, it seems you have a little strength left in you".

Klaus thundered.

Andrea hissed as a result of the pain she felt over her body.

Klaus closed the door to the store room so that no one could hear nor see him.

"You see, in a day's time, we would find our mate....."

He said, trying to have a glimpse of her face, he held her cheek, raising her face so that they would see eyeball to eyeball.

Klaus is yet to have a mate. No one has been given to him as a mate, probably the goddess wants to punish him for his evil deeds.

He has two beautiful sisters, and doesn't have someone who will contest with him on the quest of becoming the Alpha. One would think why he hasn't taken the Alpha title so serious.

"Anyone given to you as a mate will reject you, so why don't we use the opportunity to have some fun." Klaus said beaming with a mischievous smile.

He caressed her body with his hands, and he could feel his touch having some effects on her, as she shivers.

Andrea could not believe what she heard.

"How can he stoop so low to have something to do with her, even when they despise each other." She said to herself.

Andrea has not been mated to anyone before, and now that the day for her to be mated with someone is fast approaching, she felt insecured.

"If you are been rejected by your would be mate tomorrow, you would be thrown to the mine." Klaus said trying all he could do to taunt her.

"You do not have any wolf in you, so what makes you think that you will be accepted by your mate, coupled with the fact that you are a servant to this pack".

Klaus reluctantly said.

"So why don't you do my bidding, so that when you're mate rejects you, I can save you from been thrown into the mine."

Klaus continued, as he access her body with his wild eyes.

Andrea has not experienced what it is to love or be loved nor to talk of been mated to someone.

Neither ways, she doesn't want a mate nor to be thrown into the mine.

"I await whatever fate that will come to me on that day." She said to herself.

Klaus's father judas had been the one who constructed the rule of throwing wolf less creatures into the mine to suffer for life.

All he cared about, his himself, and the title not minding what the people truly wants.

"How do you want it, slow or fast? Tell me how you plan enjoying yourself here with me since you won't be having any mate to throw yourself at"

Klaus asked inquisitively. He knew that all the unmated ladies wanted him, not to talk of an Omega rejecting his advances.

There was no response from Andrea.

He made to unzip her dress, and he didn't expect what suddenly happened. He shocked to the brim.

I sat on the cold tile floor of our Upper East Side penthouse, staring at the two pink lines until my vision blurred. After ten years of loving Julian Sterling and three years of a hollow marriage, I finally had the one thing that could bridge the distance between us. I was pregnant. But Julian didn't come home with flowers for our anniversary. He tossed a thick manila envelope onto the marble coffee table with a heavy thud. Fiona, the woman he'd truly loved for years, was back in New York, and he told me our "business deal" was officially over. "Sign it," He said, his voice flat and devoid of emotion. He looked at me with the cold detachment of a man selling a piece of unwanted furniture. When I hesitated, he told me to add a zero to the alimony if the money wasn't enough. I realized in that moment that if he knew about the baby, he wouldn't love me; he would simply take my child and give it to Fiona to raise. I shoved the pregnancy test into my pocket, signed the papers with a shaking hand, and lied through my teeth. When my morning sickness hit, I slumped to the floor to hide the truth. "It's just cramps," I gasped, watching him recoil as if I were contagious. To make him stay away, I invented a man named Jack-a fake boyfriend who supposedly gave me the kindness Julian never could. Suddenly, the man who wanted me gone became a monster of possessiveness. He threatened to "bury" a man who didn't exist while leaving me humiliated at his family's dinner to rush to Fiona's side. I was so broken that I even ate a cake I was deathly allergic to, then had to refuse life-saving steroids at the hospital because they would harm the fetus. Julian thinks he's stalling the divorce for two months to protect the family's reputation for his father's Jubilee. He thinks he's keeping his "property" on a short leash until the press dies down. He has no idea I'm using those sixty days to build a fortress for my child. By the time he realizes the truth, I'll be gone, and the Sterling heir will be far beyond his reach.

I was finally brought back to the billionaire Vance estate after years in the grimy foster system, but the luxury Lincoln felt more like a funeral procession. My biological family didn't welcome me with open arms; they looked at me like a stain on a silk shirt. They thought I was a "defective" mute with cognitive delays, a spare part to be traded away. Within hours of my arrival, my father decided to sell me to Julian Thorne, a bitter, paralyzed heir, just to secure a corporate merger. My sister Tiffany treated me like trash, whispering for me to "go back to the gutter" before pouring red wine over my dress in front of Manhattan's elite. When a drunk cousin tried to lay hands on me at the engagement gala, my grandmother didn't protect me-she raised her silver-topped cane to strike my face for "embarrassing the family." They called me a sacrificial lamb, laughing as they signed the prenuptial agreement that stripped me of my freedom. They had no idea I was E-11, the underground hacker-artist the world was obsessed with, or that I had already breached their private servers. I found the hidden medical records-blood types A, A, and B-a biological impossibility that proved my "parents" were harboring a scandal that could ruin them. Why bring me back just to discard me again? And why was Julian Thorne, the man supposedly bound to a wheelchair, secretly running miles at dawn on his private estate? Standing in the middle of the ballroom, I didn't plead for mercy. I used a text-to-speech app to broadcast a cold, synthetic threat: "I have the records, Richard. Do you want me to explain genetics to the press, or should we leave quietly?" With the "paralyzed" billionaire as my unexpected accomplice, I walked out of the Vance house and into a much more dangerous game.
