Chapter 1 Chapter 1

Alyssa looked at the positive pregnancy test result in shock. After she lost her first child, she didn't expect to be pregnant again! How did this happen?!

Alyssa is the mute Luna of Alpha Ezekiel, the leader of one of the two most powerful wolf packs in the United States. Ezekiel is handsome, wealthy, and powerful-the dream of every she-wolf, including Alyssa.

On the day she came of age, she was overjoyed to discover that Alpha Ezekiel was her fated mate. At the request of Ezekiel's father, they were married.

In the five years since marrying him, Alyssa had always hoped he would eventually warm up to her, love her the way he should. But those were just wishes. As a mute Luna, she was only a source of shame to Ezekiel, so he always ensured she never appeared in public.

Everyone knew he was married, but no one knew she was his wife, so she did not receive the respect she was due. Seeing her protector had abandoned her, Alyssa became the target of everyone's bullying and insults, even from the servants.

She still remembered the first time she had been pregnant.

The overwhelming joy that had swelled in her chest, the trembling excitement as she had stared at the pregnancy test stick in her hands-She had always believed that a little puppy would bring a turning point to their marriage. She finally summoned the courage to to tell Ezekiel, her mate, her husband.

Alyssa held her breath, waiting. Hoping.

But nothing happened as she had hoped. Alpha Ezekiel was completely indifferent to the little pup. The servants continued to assign Alyssa heavy labor, and because she couldn't speak, they would mock her loudly and pour cold water over her.

In an unbearably cold winter, her little pup left her-only three months after she had conceived. Her husband had made her undergo an abortion even after she had pleaded with him not to.

Her baby was called nothing but a "trouble" by Alpha Ezekiel and his family so she had to let it go. There was no comfort, no care. After being discharged from the hospital, Alyssa still lived in the shabby attic, enduring that harsh winter all alone.

But she couldn't hold a grudge against him.Perhaps because she remembered too well how he had once been her only light in the darkness.

They weren't always like this. He used to be much kinder to her.Back then, his eyes had held only warmth and kindness when he looked at her.

She was only eight years old when she became the last surviving wolf of her pack. The memory of that night remained a blur - every time she tried to recall what happened during the rogues' attack, sharp pain would pierce through her head, forcing her to stop. She couldn't even remember her parents' faces anymore. All she knew was that she had lost everything - her family, her packmates, her voice, and her wolf.

Ezekiel's father, who had been best friends with her father, brought her to the Crawford pack. Despite her tragic state, most of the Crawford family welcomed her warmly - everyone except Ezekiel's sister Emma, who started bullying her immediately for being mute and wolfless. Soon others in the pack followed Emma's lead, treating her with contempt and cruelty.

During those dark days, only Ezekiel's presence made life bearable. Like a protective brother, he shielded her from all oppressors, including his sister Emma. His defense was the only thing that allowed her to endure the constant torment.

But when he turned eighteen and discovered she was his fated mate, it all ended.

"Why you? Everything is ruined!" he roared, his eyes icy cold. When Ezekiel first felt their bond, he felt not joy but anger.

His hurtful words stabbed at her like a million knives. From the first time she saw Ezekiel, she had loved him, so she was overjoyed to be his fated mate, but clearly he did not want to accept it.

The reason was simply that he was already in love with Cindy, the beautiful, capable daughter of a Beta, who was superior to her in every way, though she was loath to admit it - Cindy was the perfect Luna candidate.

So she didn't blame Ezekiel, she was even prepared to be rejected. However, no one expected that Ezekiel's father would leave a final wish: that Ezekiel had to marry her as his Luna to become the Alpha. From then on, his hatred for Alyssa began.

To Alpha Ezekiel,Alyssa was the reason his life was ruined. If she had never existed, he would have happily married his true love Cindy instead of being mated to a mute, weak omega like her, rather than their current icy marriage.

"Creeeak."

A sudden sound jolted her from her thoughts-the front door creaked open, followed by the uneven thud of heavy footsteps. Alyssa's stomach clenched as she turned toward the entryway, her breath catching at the sight before her.

Ezekiel.

He staggered inside, reeking of alcohol, his tall frame draped in the shadows of the dimly lit room. His dark hair, thick and unruly, was tousled as if impatient hands had run through it. His sharp, chiseled jaw was clenched, his lips pressed into a hard line. Even in his drunken state, he carried himself with an undeniable presence-powerful, dominant, and devastatingly handsome.

Then she saw it.

A smear of lipstick on his throat.

Alyssa's heart twisted painfully. Cindy had done this on purpose. She wanted Alyssa to see, to understand her place.

Swallowing the lump in her throat, Alyssa forced herself forward. She was his wife. No matter how much it hurt, she had a role to play.

When she noticed him nearly losing his balance, she immediately rushed over to support him, instantly feeling Ezekiel's piercing gaze.

She was so frightened she wanted to flee, but her wrist was grabbed by his large hand. "Look at me," he commanded in a low voice, making her tremble. She didn't dare meet his loathing eyes.

"Look into my eyes, mate!" he commanded again, and Alyssa raised her head, gazing into those captivating blue eyes, before Ezekiel suddenly bit down on her lips.

Alyssa had no time to cry out before he pinned her down like a beast, her hands held above her head. She tried to resist, but each of his touches sent currents coursing towards her core between her legs, and soon she went limp, wanting him, unconsciously spreading her legs in invitation.

He entered her.

The last time she had sex with him was also when he was drunk.

Only when Ezekiel was not in his right mind could she feel his desire for her. She met his thrusts with vigor.

She felt every part of him roughly penetrating her, each thrust accompanied by pleasure and pain. Soon the pleasure overtook the pain.

"Ezekiel," she would silently chant his name in her heart with each climax.

The intense lovemaking lasted until dawn. After ejaculating inside her several times, he finally released her. Alyssa kept watching him, but he simply picked up his clothes from the floor without looking at her.

"Just because we had sex doesn't mean I'll acknowledge you as my Luna," Ezekiel said coldly before leaving.

Pain washed over Alyssa like a tide. She thought today would be different, but as the door closed, tears streamed down quickly. Her heart ached tightly, but her throat could make no sound.

She sadly looked down at her flat stomach, gently cradling it.

At least she no longer felt alone. This time, she would do everything in her power to protect her child-without letting anyone in this pack know.

I lay paralyzed on stiff white sheets, a prisoner in my own skin, listening to the rain lash against the window like nails on a coffin. My father, Elmore Franco, didn't even look at my face as he checked his clipboard. He just listened to the steady, monotonous beep of the heart monitor-the only thing proving I was still alive. Without a hint of remorse, he pulled a pen from his pocket and signed the Do Not Resuscitate order. My stepmother, Ophelia, stepped out from behind him, wearing my favorite pearl necklace and smelling of cloying perfume. She leaned close to my ear to whisper the truth that turned my blood to ice. "It was the tea, darling. Just like your mother. A slow, tasteless poison." She chuckled as she revealed that my fiancé, Bryce, had a two-year-old son with my sister, Daniela. My inheritance had been funding their secret life for years, and now that the money was secure, I was an inconvenience they were finally scrubbing away. As my father yanked the power cord from the wall, the beeping died, and the darkness swallowed me whole. I was being murdered by my own flesh and blood, used as a bank account until I was no longer needed. I died in that sterile room, drowning in the realization that every person I ever loved was a monster who had been waiting for me to take my last breath. Then, I gasped. I woke up in a luxury hotel suite surrounded by silk sheets, five years in the past-the very morning of my wedding. Next to me lay Basile Delgado, the "Wolf of Wall Street" and my family's most dangerous enemy. In my first life, I ran from this room in a panic and lost everything. This time, I looked at the man who would eventually destroy my father's empire and decided to join him. "I'm not leaving, Basile. Marry me. Right now. Today."

I woke up in a blindingly white hotel penthouse with a throbbing headache and the taste of betrayal in my mouth. The last thing I remembered was my stepsister, Cathie, handing me a flute of champagne at the charity gala with a smile that didn't reach her eyes. Now, a tall, dangerously handsome man walked out of the bathroom with a towel around his hips. On the nightstand sat a stack of hundred-dollar bills. My stepmother had finally done it—she drugged me and staged a scandal with a hired escort to destroy my reputation and my future. "Aisha! Is it true you spent the night with a gigolo?" The shouts of a dozen reporters echoed through the heavy oak door as camera flashes exploded through the peephole. My phone lit up with messages showing my bank accounts were already frozen. My father was invoking the 'morality clause' in my mother’s trust fund, and my fiancé had already released a statement dumping me to marry my stepsister instead. I was trapped, penniless, and being hunted by the press for a scandal I hadn't even participated in. My own family had sold me out for a payday, and the man standing in front of me was the only witness who could prove I was innocent—or finish me off for good. I didn't have time to cry. According to the fine print of the trust, I had thirty days to prove my "rehabilitation" through a legal marriage or I would lose everything. I tracked the man down to a coffee shop the next morning, watching him take a thick envelope of cash from a wealthy older woman. I sat across from him and slid a napkin with a $50,000 figure written on it. "I need a husband. Legal, paper-signed, and convincing." He looked at the number, then at me, a slow, crooked smile spreading across his face. I thought I was hiring a desperate gigolo to save my inheritance. I had no idea I was actually proposing to Dominic Fields, the reclusive billionaire shark who was currently planning a hostile takeover of my father’s entire empire.

For four years, I traced the bullet scar on Chace’s chest, believing it was proof he would bleed to keep me safe. On our anniversary, he told me to wear white because "tonight changes everything." I walked into the gala thinking I was getting a ring. Instead, I stood frozen in the center of the ballroom, drowning in silk, watching him slide his mother's sapphire onto another woman's finger. Karyn Warren. The daughter of a rival family. When I begged him with my eyes to claim me, to save me from the public humiliation, he didn't flinch. He just leaned toward his Underboss, his voice amplified by the silence. "Karyn is for power. Ember is for pleasure. Don't confuse the assets." My heart didn't just break; it incinerated. He expected me to stay as his mistress, threatening to dig up my dead mother’s grave if I refused to play the obedient pet. He thought I was trapped. He thought I had nowhere to go because of my father’s massive gambling debts. He was wrong. With shaking hands, I pulled out my phone and texted the one name I was never supposed to use. Keith Mosley. The Don. The monster under Chace's bed. *I am invoking the Blood Oath. My father’s debt. I am ready to pay it.* His reply came three seconds later, buzzing against my palm like a warning. *The price is marriage. You belong to me. Yes or No?* I looked up at Chace, who was laughing with his new fiancée, thinking he owned me. I looked down and typed three letters. *Yes.*

The sterile white of the operating room blurred, then sharpened, as Skye Sterling felt the cold clawing its way up her body. The heart monitor flatlined, a steady, high-pitched whine announcing her end. Her uterus had been removed, a desperate attempt to stop the bleeding, but the blood wouldn't clot. It just kept flowing, warm and sticky, pooling beneath her. Through heavy eyes, she saw a trembling nurse holding a phone on speaker. "Mr. Kensington," the nurse's voice cracked, "your wife... she's critical." A pause, then a sweet, poisonous giggle. Seraphina Miller. "Liam is in the shower," Seraphina's voice purred. "Stop calling, Skye. It's pathetic. Faking a medical emergency on our anniversary? Even for you, that's low." Then, Liam's bored voice: "If she dies, call the funeral home. I have a meeting in the morning." Click. The line went dead. A second later, so did Skye. The darkness that followed was absolute, suffocating, a black ocean crushing her lungs. She screamed into the void, a silent, agonizing wail of regret for loving a man who saw her as a nuisance, for dying without ever truly living. Until she died, she didn't understand. Why was her life so tragically wasted? Why did her husband, the man she loved, abandon her so cruelly? The injustice of it all burned hotter than the fever in her body. Then, the air rushed back in. Skye gasped, her body convulsing violently on the mattress. Her eyes flew open, wide and terrified, staring blindly into the darkness. Her trembling hand reached for her phone. May 12th. Five years ago. She was back.
