Ophelia, the daughter of Ryan and Avery, was the only survivor of the attack on the moonshine pack in the southern region. Losing her entire pack made her a Lone wolf. Hated and despised by her own kind. Her father made a request when their pack was attacked. She was to find her uncle and deliver a message. Which inadvertently sends her on a journey to the north. Ophelia had always wanted to be free, to make her own choices and experience human love, not a forced bond. She wanted to love on her own terms, but nature had set her on a different course. During this journey, Ophelia discovers that she is fated to the Monarch, and it is her second shot at life. As if playing a cruel joke on them, nature paired a Lonewolf with the Monarch, a man with no tolerance for weakness, to a woman born from an ordinary wolf. A woman who did not even want a mate. Ophelia cannot morph into her wolf until she fully remembers who she is. Her body has to merge with her soul to trigger the transformation process; she is set on a quest to remember. She uncovers secrets she discovered in her past life, and with the help of Aaron, her mate, they unravel the mystery behind the existence of the half-bloods and identify the traitor in their ranks. Together, they save humanity from the torment brought to them by the half-bloods, rescue the captured wolves, and avenge their fallen heroes (her parents). They bring order back to the world. Proving that love can be found in the most unusual of places.

The Lone Wolf: Rise of the True Luna Chapter 1

CHAPTER 1

In ancient times, various creatures roamed the earth. They were called supernatural beings with abilities that were way beyond the understanding of mere mortals.

The inception of their creation was to contend with the otherworldly beasts that greatly oppressed humankind; they were literal bloodsuckers; it was an era subjugated by chaos and mayhem.

The battles lasted decades before the Versipellis fully immobilized the Vrykolakas. In modern folklore, the Versipellis were the shapeshifters, otherwise known as werewolves, and the Vrykolakas were the bloodsuckers, now known as vampires.

Their long, hard battle that eventually ended in victory did not come without a cost. The Versipellis lost their Luna. The backbone of not only the Monarch but also his people, it was a bittersweet moment when she sacrificed herself for their victory.

It was a victory that was never celebrated, for the loss of one's mate is like the loss of oneself, a feeling of loss, utter loneliness, and despair, the absence of your other half.

After they eradicated the forces of the Vrykolakas, the Versipellis king withdrew from the world, never to be seen again by mortals or even his kind.

As time passed, the supernatural became a secret known to only a few people. After a few decades, it became a myth.

The Vrykolakas were never mentioned as the evils they perpetrated were not to be spoken of, and the Versipellis were now scary stories told to children to keep them in check.

Before the Monarch disappeared, he had relegated duties to his four most trusted soldiers. He separated the wolves into the four cardinals: East, West, North, and South.

The surviving wolves separated into four groups and went to their allocated regions of the world to begin a new life after the era of the great battle.

***

A forlorn figure sat on the balcony in silence, gazing at the waning moon; Alpha Ryan was stock-still for a few hours as if he was a stationary object sculpted in place and not really a person.

Five more dead. Five more dead wolves.

He lost five men. But this was a good day. Over the month, he had lost dozens of wolves, and even the scouts never returned.

This was the only thing that kept playing in his mind. He had failed to protect his people. The feeling of failure was the worst for an alpha. He knew he had failed his people and needed to get to the bottom of the issue.

It wasn't easy to bring down a werewolf, let alone kill it. They were descendants of the great Versipellis, who took down the strongest beasts known to man. They were by no means weak. They had strength that could be rivaled by none.

The bodies he had examined had claw marks and bite marks. It was strange because only two creatures could leave such marks: the Vrykolakas (who had been eliminated) and their own kind, making it all the more confusing.

They were social animals who lived in packs and were led by the strong wolf, "the Alpha," no one dared defy him. All the neighboring packs had similar encounters. Although the deaths on his end were significantly lower. He could not wrap his head around what was happening.

Who was the mastermind of what was happening? It was harder to fight a battle if you didn't know what you were against. On the other hand, their enemy was adequately informed and kept poaching them strategically.

If this continued, all the packs in the South would be annihilated. How long would he have a pack?. He urgently needed help. He was at his wit's end, and the weight of his failure was too heavy to bear.

His pack was his pride and joy. One of the largest packs in the South, well respected, feared, and prosperous, he had everything going great, and then......

........ the attacks started

It started out as a minor inconvenience, a small nuisance; what they didn't realize was that it was just the beginning, and the small packs had fallen, they were slaughtered, and the survivors were never found.

Eventually, the larger packs were being targeted. They unified their forces and tried to fight back, but how can you attack a creature you don't know or even understand. They were blindsided, and their forces were wiped out. They walked into a well-laid ambush..... no one returned.

Their alliance swiftly crumbled, and each force withdrew their men. Now, every pack had to fend for themselves and protect their wolves.

Ryan had reached out to the council. The council consisted of the strongest werewolf bloodline, the purebred Versipellis. They were directly related to the four cardinals the "monarch" created before vanishing from the worldview.

The council was formed to keep all the other packs under the southern cardinal in check. They enforced and executed all their laws and represented the Southern region in the World Council. They were the only ones who could interact with the Cardinals.

The council settled disputes and helped packs in need. Ryan thought they would not hesitate to aid them, but his hopes were dashed. They turned him down and ignored all his pleas and calls for help. This was quite contrary to his expectations.

In their words: "This is a small issue, that a strong pack such as the moonshine pack should be more than enough to handle; it is not a serious threat."

Ryan begged to differ; he knew this issue was more than a minor threat. When they were done with this region, they would move.

For Ryan, the response of the council was the straw that broke the camel's back, the survival of his pack was his number one priority, and he'd be damned if he didn't move mountains and try any means at his disposal to ensure his people's survival and safety. Consequences be damned.

Turning around, he picked up his phone and started dialing...... Ring Gg...... Ring Ggg..... he waited patiently to be connected.

The phone rang on the other end and was picked up after a few rings. Before Ryan could organize his thoughts to speak, the person on the other line broke the silence.

Ryan, I am glad you decided to call, he said tenderly. Is there something I can do for you? Ryan took a deep breath and uttered four words softly.

"I need your help."

***

A knock on the door broke his reverie: "Come in," he said, knowing who was at the door.

"Have you done it?" She asked, stepping into the room.

Looking up at his mate, the despair he had moments ago faded away; she could calm him down with her mere presence; she was a beauty, a sight for sore eyes.

"Well?" She inquired, still waiting for a response, snapping him out of his reverie.

"It's done."

"And?"

"He agreed."

"Thank goodness," she whispered with relief.

"He said I have to do something for him when I arrive. After all, what I'm asking for is huge, and he would need to pull a few strings," Ryan added.

There was nothing free in this world if Ryan needed his help after so many years of silence. It would only be natural to want something in return.

Preparations were being made, and they would set out soon.

I was once the heiress to the Solomon empire, but after it crumbled, I became the "charity case" ward of the wealthy Hyde family. For years, I lived in their shadows, clinging to the promise that Anson Hyde would always be my protector. That promise shattered when Anson walked into the ballroom with Claudine Chapman on his arm. Claudine was the girl who had spent years making my life a living hell, and now Anson was announcing their engagement to the world. The humiliation was instant. Guests sneered at my cheap dress, and a waiter intentionally sloshed champagne over me, knowing I was a nobody. Anson didn't even look my way; he was too busy whispering possessively to his new fiancée. I was a ghost in my own home, watching my protector celebrate with my tormentor. The betrayal burned. I realized I wasn't a ward; I was a pawn Anson had kept on a shelf until he found a better trade. I had no money, no allies, and a legal trust fund that Anson controlled with a flick of his wrist. Fleeing to the library, I stumbled into Dallas Koch—a titan of industry and my best friend’s father. He was a wall of cold, absolute power that even the Hydes feared. "Marry me," I blurted out, desperate to find a shield Anson couldn't climb. Dallas didn't laugh. He pulled out a marriage agreement and a heavy fountain pen. "Sign," he commanded, his voice a low rumble. "But if you walk out that door with me, you never go back." I signed my name, trading my life for the only man dangerous enough to keep me safe.

I lay paralyzed on stiff white sheets, a prisoner in my own skin, listening to the rain lash against the window like nails on a coffin. My father, Elmore Franco, didn't even look at my face as he checked his clipboard. He just listened to the steady, monotonous beep of the heart monitor-the only thing proving I was still alive. Without a hint of remorse, he pulled a pen from his pocket and signed the Do Not Resuscitate order. My stepmother, Ophelia, stepped out from behind him, wearing my favorite pearl necklace and smelling of cloying perfume. She leaned close to my ear to whisper the truth that turned my blood to ice. "It was the tea, darling. Just like your mother. A slow, tasteless poison." She chuckled as she revealed that my fiancé, Bryce, had a two-year-old son with my sister, Daniela. My inheritance had been funding their secret life for years, and now that the money was secure, I was an inconvenience they were finally scrubbing away. As my father yanked the power cord from the wall, the beeping died, and the darkness swallowed me whole. I was being murdered by my own flesh and blood, used as a bank account until I was no longer needed. I died in that sterile room, drowning in the realization that every person I ever loved was a monster who had been waiting for me to take my last breath. Then, I gasped. I woke up in a luxury hotel suite surrounded by silk sheets, five years in the past-the very morning of my wedding. Next to me lay Basile Delgado, the "Wolf of Wall Street" and my family's most dangerous enemy. In my first life, I ran from this room in a panic and lost everything. This time, I looked at the man who would eventually destroy my father's empire and decided to join him. "I'm not leaving, Basile. Marry me. Right now. Today."

The rain in Detroit was slick with grime when my family finally came to fetch me. They didn't want a reunion; they wanted a sacrificial lamb to marry into the Kaufman empire to save their failing business. I thought I was just being sold off, but the limo ride ended under a dark overpass where six hired thugs were waiting with chains. My own sister had ordered them to "break my spirit" so I’d be a shaking, pathetic mess by the time I reached the altar. They called me "Detroit trash" and sprayed air freshener when I sat on their leather seats. My stepmother wanted a video of me begging for my life, and my father was ready to trade me like a used car to a man everyone called a "vegetable." They expected a submissive country girl, unaware that I was a high-level "cleaner" who could snap a radius bone before they could even scream. When I finally reached the Kaufman estate, I found my fiancé, Barron, slumped in a wheelchair, drooling and silent. But as soon as the doors closed, the "invalid" grabbed my wrist with a grip of iron and whispered a command that changed everything. I didn't understand why my own blood was so desperate to see me destroyed. What had I ever done to deserve a hit squad and a forced marriage to a man they thought was a corpse? But Barron isn't a vegetable, and I'm not a victim. We just touched down at the Moon family gala in a matte-black helicopter, and as the doors slide open, the "broken" bride is about to show them exactly what happens when you throw away the wrong daughter. "If we're going to crash a party," Barron whispered, his eyes burning with lethal clarity, "we should make an entrance."

I was sitting in the Presidential Suite of The Pierre, wearing a Vera Wang gown worth more than most people earn in a decade. It was supposed to be the wedding of the century, the final move to merge two of Manhattan's most powerful empires. Then my phone buzzed. It was an Instagram Story from my fiancé, Jameson. He was at Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris with a caption that read: "Fuck the chains. Chasing freedom." He hadn't just gotten cold feet; he had abandoned me at the altar to run across the world. My father didn't come in to comfort me. He burst through the door roaring about a lost acquisition deal, telling me the Holland Group would strip our family for parts if the ceremony didn't happen by noon. My stepmother wailed about us becoming the laughingstock of the Upper East Side. The Holland PR director even suggested I fake a "panic attack" to make myself look weak and sympathetic to save their stock price. Then Jameson’s sleazy cousin, Pierce, walked in with a lopsided grin, offering to "step in" and marry me just to get his hands on my assets. I looked at them and realized I wasn't a daughter or a bride to anyone in that room. I was a failed asset, a bouncing check, a girl whose own father told her to go to Paris and "beg" the man who had just publicly humiliated her. The girl who wanted to be loved died in that mirror. I realized that if I was going to be sold to save a merger, I was going to sell myself to the one who actually controlled the money. I marched past my parents and walked straight into the VIP holding room. I looked the most powerful man in the room—Jameson’s cold, ruthless uncle, Fletcher Holland—dead in the eye and threw the iPad on the table. "Jameson is gone," I said, my voice as hard as stone. "Marry me instead."

The heavy thud of the release stamp was the only goodbye I got from the warden after five years in federal prison. I stepped out into the blinding sun, expecting the same flash of paparazzi bulbs that had seen me dragged away in handcuffs, but there was only a single black limousine idling on the shoulder of the road. Inside sat my mother and sister, clutching champagne and looking at my frayed coat with pure disgust. They didn't offer a welcome home; instead, they tossed a thick legal document onto the table and told me I was dead to the city. "Gavin and I are getting engaged," my sister Mia sneered, flicking a credit card at me like I was a stray dog. "He doesn't need a convict ex-fiancée hanging around." Even after I saved their lives from an armed kidnapping attempt by ramming the attackers off the road, they rewarded me by leaving me stranded in the dirt. When I finally ran into Gavin, the man who had framed me, he pinned me against a wall and threatened to send me back to a cell if I ever dared to show my face at their wedding. They had stolen my biotech research, ruined my name, and let me rot for half a decade while they lived off my brilliance. They thought they had broken me, leaving me with nothing but an expired chapstick and a few old photos in a plastic bag. What they didn't know was that I had spent those five years becoming "Dr. X," a shadow consultant with five hundred million dollars in crypto and a secret that would bring the city to its knees. I wasn't just a victim anymore; I was a weapon, and I was pregnant with the heir they thought they had erased. I walked into the Melton estate and made an offer to the most powerful man in New York. "I'll save your grandfather's life," I told Horatio Melton, staring him down. "But the price is your last name. I'm taking back what's mine, and I'm starting with the man who thinks he's marrying my sister."
