A luna's tale:tamed by darkness Chapter 1 A day like any other

The beautiful morning sky stretched out over the beautiful city of vine, the soft glow of sunlight filtered through the sleepy city, the cool breeze in the air . Birds chirped lazily in the towering sequoia trees that boarded the city, their sounds weaving through the air like familiar songs, it was a place where time moved slowly, people knew their neighbours, and the change in season inspired every day.

Sera took a deep breath as she stepped out of her small apartment ,stretching as she pulled on her jacket tighter around her shoulders, the air was cool and damp, hinting at the beginning of summer, the smell of damp earth, pine and wildflowers floated with the breeze, grounding her in the moment. She loved her home in vine, she had a family, a pack and friends who meant everything to her.

Walking down the quiet street, she passed the old diner with its sign fading off and swinging to the side, the old bakery she grew up with. The smell of fresh bread and coffee came through the open window, floating in the air, mingling with the outdoors. She smiled knowing the morning rush is about to start, imagining the warmth inside the bakery mixed with the chatter of customers and wonderful smell of pastries.

Along the way, some children chased after each other playing charades, their laughter sounding so bright and cheerful, her gaze softened. Life in vine was simple but warm , a mixture of ordinary moments and events that made it whole and beautiful. And Beneath it all was the heart of the Bloodmoon pack.

After a while she met kaya at the corner by the creek, her best friend since she was just a little pup. Kayas eyes sparkled with their usual mischievous energy, bouncing lightly on her heels as she spotted sera.

"Morning!" She called out, her voice chirpy and bright.

"Morning" sera replied with a grin, walking up to her. They followed the winding path through the tall sequoia trees leading towards the packs gathering grounds.

The forest was bright, sun light streaming through the trees, birds chirping, deers in sight, the scent of pine and moss and wild berries filled the air as they got closer to the pack grounds.

Sers breathed in deeply, the woods were a sanctuary for her, a place were she could be free, where she could feel the strength of her bloodline coursing through her veins. Here, here senses were heightened and the noice and chaos of the human world faded away.

As they arrived at the clearing grounds, the sounds of the pack's morning rituals reached ears. Wolves moving silently on the soft ground, their movements were fluid and intentional. The low hums of their voices mixed with laughter, occasional barks, howls and growls filling the air. It was a harmony of life, wild and free.

They increased their footsteps in anticipation. Sera loved training days, they brought a sense of purpose to her, a chance to test herself and grow stringer.

Kaya nudged her playfully " You ready for today?"

"Always ready" sera replied smiling

"Good cause Marcus promised a tough session" kaya said, eyes shinning.

Sera chuckled "I've been ready since breakfast ".

The clearing opened before them, the wide space rounded by ancient oaks and pine trees, branches stretching protectively around. Big large stones circled the perimeter worn out by generations who had sat there, telling stories and settling disputes.

Pack members were already gathered, Eli, sera young cousin, was sparring with a friend under the watchful eyes of his father., his movements improving with time and nearby, their uncle coached a small group in tracking techniques, pointing out subtle signs and traces in the dirt and leaves.

Sera's eyes swept the crowd looking for familiar faces.

Fierce warriors, healers, cunning strategists, and all sorts of people where all over the trainning grounds. Each of them as important as the other in the pack. A thread in the tapestry of the pack.

Her uncle caught her gaze and smiled, nodding to her as a sign of greeting. Sera returned it with a small bow of her head, smiling back at him.

Training began with stretches, and the usual warm ups, the pack moving in synchrony. Sera loved the way they moved in harmony, their bodies working together as a part of one.

As the session progressed, they practiced combat drills, hunting skills, self defence, honing reflexes and building endurance. The grounds felt alive and responsive to every step.

Between the exercise, laughter came up freely. Kaya challenged sera to a sparring match, their playful rivalry drawing cheers and laughter from the crowd. Sera grinned, matching her friends enthusiasm with quick strikes and agile moves.

Later As the cooled down near the edge of the clearing by the spring, the sun climbed higher warming their skin and lighting up the forest.

Sera took a while to sit on a rock by the edge, watching the leaves fall and float in the breeze. Her thoughts drifting away. Life was good but sometimes she wondered if there was more waiting beyond the familiar boundaries of the pack borders.

She was happy in her pack but felt empty.

Kaya plopped down beside her, breaking the silence

"You're awfully quiet"

Sera shrugged "just thinking"

"About what" kaya nudged her shoulder.

"Nothing really" sera smiled softly " just wondering "

"About what?"

Sera hesitated then shook her head "nothing, never mind"

Kaya smiled knowingly but didn't press " well, when you wanna talk,I'm here".

Sera's smile grew , she was lucky to have kaya, someone genuine who understood her without needing explanations.

The rest of the day unfolded in a steady, quiet pace.,meals were shared along the fire pit, stories were told under the trees, the quiet moments just watching the sunset paint the skies in streaks of orange and pink.

At night the pack gathered again to howl ,their voices rising in a beautiful chorus praising the moon goddess echoed through the woods, in preparation of the crowning ceremony.

As sera lay in her bed, the beautiful sounds of the forest whispering to her through the window, she felt a calm settle over her. But she still felt the pull. That pull that tells her there's something outside these borders that's calling her.

As She drifted off to sleep, she reminded herself, tomorrow would bring its own challenges and joys, but for now, she was were she needed to be.

Six years ago, I was a naive girl sold by my father to the powerful Sanders estate, only to be tossed onto the streets after a brutal assault they labeled "marital infidelity." I fled the country pregnant and broken, hiding from the shadow of a husband I had never even met. Now, I’ve returned to New York with my triplets to sign the final divorce papers and disappear forever. But Archibald Sanders—the man I was told was a crippled recluse—intercepted us with the cold precision of a predator. He didn't see the woman his family destroyed; he saw a gold-digger who had shamed his name. His security team hunted us to a grimy motel, using tactical force to snatch my children away and drag me to his glass-walled empire. In his office, he loomed over me, demanding a DNA test and threatening to throw me in prison while my babies were lost to the foster system. He was convinced I’d cheated, yet he stared at my sons with a haunting confusion, unable to ignore the stormy blue eyes that were a perfect mirror of his own. I stood there, paralyzed by his scent—the sharp tang of rain and expensive leather that triggered the icy dread of my worst nightmares. How could he accuse me of betrayal when he felt exactly like the monster who had shattered my life in that dark hotel room? "I'll sign anything," I sobbed, "just give me my kids." But the game changed when my five-year-old son hacked the tower’s security, holding the skyscraper hostage to save me. In the chaos, a fragile, silent boy—Archibald’s secret son—wandered into the room and reached for me as if I were his missing soul. Archibald’s face turned to stone as he tore up the agreement and locked the doors. "Until I find out why my son is looking at you like that," he growled, "you aren't going anywhere."

Being second best is practically in my DNA. My sister got the love, the attention, the spotlight. And now, even her damn fiancé. Technically, Rhys Granger was my fiancé now-billionaire, devastatingly hot, and a walking Wall Street wet dream. My parents shoved me into the engagement after Catherine disappeared, and honestly? I didn't mind. I'd crushed on Rhys for years. This was my chance, right? My turn to be the chosen one? Wrong. One night, he slapped me. Over a mug. A stupid, chipped, ugly mug my sister gave him years ago. That's when it hit me-he didn't love me. He didn't even see me. I was just a warm-bodied placeholder for the woman he actually wanted. And apparently, I wasn't even worth as much as a glorified coffee cup. So I slapped him right back, dumped his ass, and prepared for disaster-my parents losing their minds, Rhys throwing a billionaire tantrum, his terrifying family plotting my untimely demise. Obviously, I needed alcohol. A lot of alcohol. Enter him. Tall, dangerous, unfairly hot. The kind of man who makes you want to sin just by existing. I'd met him only once before, and that night, he just happened to be at the same bar as my drunk, self-pitying self. So I did the only logical thing: I dragged him into a hotel room and ripped off his clothes. It was reckless. It was stupid. It was completely ill-advised. But it was also: Best. Sex. Of. My. Life. And, as it turned out, the best decision I'd ever made. Because my one-night stand isn't just some random guy. He's richer than Rhys, more powerful than my entire family, and definitely more dangerous than I should be playing with. And now, he's not letting me go.

I went to the City Clerk’s office for a routine copy of my marriage license to finalize a trust fund audit. I expected a simple piece of paper, but the clerk’s pitying look told me my entire life was a lie. "The license was never finalized, Ms. Oliver. In the eyes of the state, you are single." The three-hundred-guest wedding at the Plaza and the Vogue features meant nothing. My husband, Gray Cooley, had intentionally filed the documents with a "procedural defect" so he could discard me without a legal divorce. Moments later, an iCloud invite titled "Our Little Secret" popped up on my screen. It was a photo of my best friend, Brylee, holding a positive pregnancy test at our Hamptons estate. Gray’s text to her was the final blow: "Happy anniversary, babe. This baby is the best gift. Once the trust unlocks today, we’re done with the charade." I soon discovered they were even stealing my career, reassigning my architectural masterpiece to Brylee while preparing my eviction notice. Gray's mother called me a "barren mule" in a leaked recording, mocking the infertility I suffered after saving Gray’s life in a construction accident. I wasn't a wife; I was a three-year placeholder used to secure his inheritance. How could the man I bled for treat me like a disposable prop? How could my best friend carry his child while pretending to comfort me through my darkest moments? The betrayal burned until it turned into a cold, hard stone of fury. I didn't cry. Instead, I walked into the penthouse of the Barretts, the Cooleys' most powerful rivals. I signed a marriage contract with Kane Barrett, the man the tabloids called the "Beast of Wall Street." "I want a wedding," I told his father, my voice steady and lethal. "Bigger than the one I had with Gray." If they wanted me gone, they would have to watch me become the woman who owns their world.
