The Virgin And The Billionaire Chapter 1 The Spill

Ivy Carter held the tray of hot coffee cups tightly as she rushed across the busy New York street. One wrong step and everything could fall. And if that happened, her boss would definitely fire her.

She was already late.

Cold wind blew her hair loose from the bun she'd tied in a hurry that morning. Her old sneakers splashed through a puddle, but she didn't stop. Ahead of her stood a huge glass building-Blackwood Enterprises-one of the most powerful companies in the city.

I just have to drop this off and leave, she told herself. No mistakes.

As she entered the building, her eyes widened. The lobby looked like something out of a movie-shiny floors, gold accents, and the smell of expensive cologne in the air. People in sharp suits walked past her, confident and important.

She adjusted her café apron, feeling completely out of place.

"Delivery for Mr. Carter," she said softly to the security guard.

"Top floor," he replied without looking up.

Ivy stepped into the elevator, trying to calm her nerves. As the elevator moved up, she caught a glimpse of herself in the mirror. Her cheeks were red from the cold, her hair messy, but her warm hazel eyes still gave her a little comfort. At least she didn't look completely hopeless.

The elevator stopped on the 52nd floor.

Ivy stepped out slowly. The office floor was quiet, fancy, and intimidating. A woman with straight blonde hair sat behind the front desk, typing without looking up.

"You're here for Mr. Blackwood?" the woman asked.

Ivy nodded.

"Go in. He's waiting."

He? Ivy's heart skipped a beat.

She thought she was delivering the coffee to an assistant, not Adrian Blackwood himself-the billionaire CEO.

She took a deep breath and pushed open the large glass door.

A tall man stood by the window with his back to her. His suit fit him perfectly, and the bright city lights behind him made him look like he belonged in another world.

"Put it on the desk," he said without turning around.

His voice was deep, calm, and powerful.

Ivy placed the tray carefully on the desk. Her hands were shaking a little, but she tried to act normal. She should have left right after, but something made her stay. Maybe it was curiosity. Maybe it was the strange pull she felt.

Then he turned.

Her breath caught in her throat.

He was handsome in a way that didn't seem real. Sharp jawline, blue eyes that looked like ice, dark hair combed back neatly-he looked like someone out of a magazine. Rich. Confident. Dangerous.

His eyes landed on her and stayed there.

"Ivy," he said, reading her name tag. "You're not our usual delivery person."

"I-I'm just helping out today," she said quickly. "It's my first time here."

He took a step closer. She felt his gaze move over her like a wave. It wasn't rude or creepy-just intense.

"You have coffee on your sleeve," he said.

She looked down and saw a drop of caramel had spilled on her arm. Embarrassed, she wiped it quickly.

"Sorry," she mumbled. "It's been a crazy morning."

"I don't drink coffee," he said.

"Oh... but this is a double caramel macchiato with-"

"I ordered it for someone else. They didn't show up." He paused. "You can have it."

She looked at him, surprised. "Me?"

"I don't like wasting things."

He handed her the cup. Their fingers touched for a second.

Ivy felt a strange spark in that simple touch. Her heart skipped again, and her cheeks grew warm.

"Thanks," she whispered.

He studied her for a moment, his face unreadable.

Then he said something that made her freeze.

"Tell your boss I only want you to deliver here from now on."

Her eyes widened. "Me?"

"You follow instructions well," he said simply.

And just like that, he turned back to the window.

Ivy stood still, unsure what had just happened. She finally stepped out of the office, the door clicking shut behind her.

Inside the elevator, she leaned against the wall, her heart pounding.

What was that?

Why did a billionaire just ask for her?

She was just a poor girl trying to survive in the city. She wasn't rich. She wasn't fancy. And she definitely wasn't used to men like Adrian Blackwood.

She had never even been kissed.

But he looked at her like she was someone important.

And now... he wanted to see her again.

Her world was about to change.

And so was his.

I lay paralyzed on stiff white sheets, a prisoner in my own skin, listening to the rain lash against the window like nails on a coffin. My father, Elmore Franco, didn't even look at my face as he checked his clipboard. He just listened to the steady, monotonous beep of the heart monitor-the only thing proving I was still alive. Without a hint of remorse, he pulled a pen from his pocket and signed the Do Not Resuscitate order. My stepmother, Ophelia, stepped out from behind him, wearing my favorite pearl necklace and smelling of cloying perfume. She leaned close to my ear to whisper the truth that turned my blood to ice. "It was the tea, darling. Just like your mother. A slow, tasteless poison." She chuckled as she revealed that my fiancé, Bryce, had a two-year-old son with my sister, Daniela. My inheritance had been funding their secret life for years, and now that the money was secure, I was an inconvenience they were finally scrubbing away. As my father yanked the power cord from the wall, the beeping died, and the darkness swallowed me whole. I was being murdered by my own flesh and blood, used as a bank account until I was no longer needed. I died in that sterile room, drowning in the realization that every person I ever loved was a monster who had been waiting for me to take my last breath. Then, I gasped. I woke up in a luxury hotel suite surrounded by silk sheets, five years in the past-the very morning of my wedding. Next to me lay Basile Delgado, the "Wolf of Wall Street" and my family's most dangerous enemy. In my first life, I ran from this room in a panic and lost everything. This time, I looked at the man who would eventually destroy my father's empire and decided to join him. "I'm not leaving, Basile. Marry me. Right now. Today."

Rain hammered against the asphalt as my sedan spun violently into the guardrail on the I-95. Blood trickled down my temple, stinging my eyes, while the rhythmic slap of the windshield wipers mocked my panic. Trembling, I dialed my husband, Clive. His executive assistant answered instead, his voice professional and utterly cold. "Mr. Wilson says to stop the theatrics. He said, and I quote, 'Hang up. Tell her I don’t have time for her emotional blackmail tonight.'" The line went dead while I was still trapped in the wreckage. At the hospital, I watched the news footage of Clive wrapping his jacket around his "fragile" ex-girlfriend, Angelena, shielding her from the storm I was currently bleeding in. When I returned to our penthouse, I found a prenatal ultrasound in his suit pocket, dated the day he claimed to be on a business trip. Instead of an apology, Clive met me with a sneer. He told me I was nothing but an "expensive decoration" his father bought to make him look stable. He froze my bank accounts and cut off my cards, waiting for the hunger to drive me back to his feet. I stared at the man I had loved for four years, realizing he didn't just want a wife; he wanted a prop he could switch off. He thought he could starve me into submission while he played father to another woman's child. But Clive forgot one thing. Before I was his trophy wife, I was Starfall—the legendary voice actress who vanished at the height of her fame. "I'm not jealous, Clive. I'm done." I grabbed my old microphone and walked out. I’m not just leaving him; I’m taking the lead role in the biggest saga in Hollywood—the one Angelena is desperate for. This time, the "decoration" is going to burn his world down.

I woke up on silk sheets that smelled of expensive cedar and cold sandalwood, a world away from my cramped apartment in Brooklyn. Beside me lay Ezra Gardner—my boss, the billionaire CEO of Gardner Holdings, and the man who could end my career with a snap of his fingers. He didn’t offer an apology for the night before; instead, he looked at me with terrifying clarity and proposed a cold, calculated business arrangement. "Marriage. It stabilizes the board and solves the PR crisis before it begins." He dressed me in archival Chanel and sent me home in his Maybach, but my life was already falling apart. My boyfriend, Irving, claimed he had passed out early, yet his location data placed him at my best friend’s apartment until three in the morning. When I tried to run, I realized Ezra was already ten steps ahead, tracking my movements and uncovering the secret I’d spent twenty years hiding: my connection to the powerful Senator Grimes. I was trapped between a CEO who treated me like a line item on a quarterly report and a boyfriend who had been using me while sleeping with my closest friend. I felt like a pawn in a game I didn't understand, wondering why a man like Ezra would walk up forty flights of stairs on a broken leg just to make sure I was safe. "Showtime, Mrs. Gardner." Standing on the red carpet in a gown that cost more than my life, I watched my cheating ex-boyfriend’s face turn pale as Ezra claimed me in front of the world. I wasn't just an assistant anymore; I was a weapon, and it was time to burn their world down.

I was once the heiress to the Solomon empire, but after it crumbled, I became the "charity case" ward of the wealthy Hyde family. For years, I lived in their shadows, clinging to the promise that Anson Hyde would always be my protector. That promise shattered when Anson walked into the ballroom with Claudine Chapman on his arm. Claudine was the girl who had spent years making my life a living hell, and now Anson was announcing their engagement to the world. The humiliation was instant. Guests sneered at my cheap dress, and a waiter intentionally sloshed champagne over me, knowing I was a nobody. Anson didn't even look my way; he was too busy whispering possessively to his new fiancée. I was a ghost in my own home, watching my protector celebrate with my tormentor. The betrayal burned. I realized I wasn't a ward; I was a pawn Anson had kept on a shelf until he found a better trade. I had no money, no allies, and a legal trust fund that Anson controlled with a flick of his wrist. Fleeing to the library, I stumbled into Dallas Koch—a titan of industry and my best friend’s father. He was a wall of cold, absolute power that even the Hydes feared. "Marry me," I blurted out, desperate to find a shield Anson couldn't climb. Dallas didn't laugh. He pulled out a marriage agreement and a heavy fountain pen. "Sign," he commanded, his voice a low rumble. "But if you walk out that door with me, you never go back." I signed my name, trading my life for the only man dangerous enough to keep me safe.
