The Red Wolves Legacy: A leader's destiny Chapter 1 Slave

Long ago, a powerful and ambitious Alpha of a pack was cursed by the moon goddess, a deity revered and feared by the werewolf clans. The curse was a harsh one: the Alpha would never have an heir to continue his legacy.

Driven by desperation and a refusal to accept his fate, the Alpha became obsessed with defying the curse. He attempted to breed a viable heir who would succeed him and continue his legacy, but each attempt ended in failure.

It was this failure that drove him mad, and turned him against his own pack, slaughtering many of its members in fits of rage.

The pack was torn apart by his actions, and those who managed to escape are to this day, shunned and killed by other packs who fear that they would bring calamity upon them.

The pack's dark legacy lives on, forever known as the 'Pack of the Cursed'.

Akila's life as a slave in the Crescent Guard pack was one of unrelenting suffering and brutality.

She had been forced to endure physical abuse, emotional torment, and psychological manipulation at the hands of every member of the pack.

Physically, Akila's body had been constantly battered and bruised. She had been subjected to brutal "training" sessions, where she had been forced to withstand physical punishment without retaliation.

Her body had been a canvas of scratches, bruises, and broken bones, a testament to the cruelty she had faced every day.

Emotionally, Akila had been drained and broken. She had been forced to live in a state of constant fear, never knowing when the next beating or punishment would come.

She had been belittled, degraded, and humiliated, her spirit crushed by the relentless cruelty of her captors.

Psychologically, Akila had been trapped in a cycle of hopelessness and despair.

She had felt like she was living in a never-ending nightmare, with no escape or respite. She had been forced to suppress her own identity and autonomy, living solely to serve the whims of her oppressors.

Her mother, as she was told, died while giving birth to her, and from the little they've told her, she was treated like trash because she belonged to the 'Pack of the Cursed'.

All those that belonged to this pack had pale skin, like her, and hair color ranging from golden brown to a fiery red.

She had burnt-orange colored hair, and for as long as she could remember, she had been hearing the same thing, over and over again.

"She was a curse," as was the rest of her native pack.

From the little she had found out about it, the Alpha of her native pack ran mad, killing all of his pack members, and those who managed to flee from him, they were killed by the packs where they sought refuge, saying that they would bring bad luck to them.

She was currently living in the Cresent Guard wolfpack as a slave. She didn't know if there were any living members from her pack. She didn't have the luxury to worry about others when her life was as painful as it was.

Despite the brutality she had faced, Akila's spirit had remained unbroken, and she had held on to the hope that one day she would be free.

Her wolf, Lexine, had been her only source of comfort and support, and Akila had clung to their bond as a lifeline in the darkness.

Akila's life had been a bleak and desperate one, marked by constant pain, fear, and suffering. She had been a shadow of her former self, a mere specter of the person she once was.

Her existence had been a testament to the cruelty and brutality of the Crescent Guard pack and a reminder of the horrors that could be inflicted upon those who were powerless and vulnerable.

Akila slowly made her way downstairs, her legs trembling beneath her.

The "training" session had been particularly brutal today, and she could feel the weight of her exhaustion bearing down on her.

As she reached the bottom of the stairs, she trudged towards her "room," a cold and unforgiving space that was little more than a prison cell in disguise.

Her clothes were dirty and stained with blood. Her hair was dirty and unkempt. She barely had any strength, and she was starving.

She couldn't even remember the last time she had a proper meal. All she that she ate were leftovers, and that was if there were any.

She collapsed onto the battered bed, wincing as her bruised body protested the movement.

Every inch of her seemed to ache, from the cuts and scrapes on her skin to the deeper, more profound pain that seemed to seep into her very bones.

Akila lay down gingerly, trying not to cause any further damage to her already battered body. She closed her eyes, letting out a soft sigh as she felt the weight of her exhaustion wash over her.

For a moment, she just lay there, letting her body rest and trying to block out the pain and fear that seemed to follow her everywhere.

As she lay there, Akila's thoughts turned to Lexine, her wolf.

She reached out with her mind, seeking comfort in the familiar presence of her wolf.

"Lexine?" Akila whispered, her mental voice barely audible. "I'm so tired. I don't know how much more I can take."

"I know, Akila," Lexine's calm voice replied, her tone soothing and gentle. "You're strong, though. You've survived every brutal session, every cruel word. You'll get through this, too."

Akila's eyes welled up with tears as she felt a surge of gratitude towards Lexine.

"But for how long, Lexine? How long can I keep going like this?"

"As long as you need to, Akila," Lexine replied, her energy wrapping around Akila like a warm blanket. "We'll get through this together. We'll find a way out, I promise." Lexine said, and Akila nodded.

"Get some rest. Let me heal your wounds,"

Akila's eyes drifted shut, and she let the exhaustion claim her, her body and mind crying out for rest.

But even in sleep, she knew she wouldn't be free from the Crescent Guard's cruelty for long.

The pack would come for her again soon, and she would have to face another day of pain and suffering.

Yet, with Lexine's words echoing in her mind, Akila felt a glimmer of hope.

Maybe, just maybe, there was a way out of this darkness. Maybe she wouldn't have to suffer forever.

The heavy thud of the release stamp was the only goodbye I got from the warden after five years in federal prison. I stepped out into the blinding sun, expecting the same flash of paparazzi bulbs that had seen me dragged away in handcuffs, but there was only a single black limousine idling on the shoulder of the road. Inside sat my mother and sister, clutching champagne and looking at my frayed coat with pure disgust. They didn't offer a welcome home; instead, they tossed a thick legal document onto the table and told me I was dead to the city. "Gavin and I are getting engaged," my sister Mia sneered, flicking a credit card at me like I was a stray dog. "He doesn't need a convict ex-fiancée hanging around." Even after I saved their lives from an armed kidnapping attempt by ramming the attackers off the road, they rewarded me by leaving me stranded in the dirt. When I finally ran into Gavin, the man who had framed me, he pinned me against a wall and threatened to send me back to a cell if I ever dared to show my face at their wedding. They had stolen my biotech research, ruined my name, and let me rot for half a decade while they lived off my brilliance. They thought they had broken me, leaving me with nothing but an expired chapstick and a few old photos in a plastic bag. What they didn't know was that I had spent those five years becoming "Dr. X," a shadow consultant with five hundred million dollars in crypto and a secret that would bring the city to its knees. I wasn't just a victim anymore; I was a weapon, and I was pregnant with the heir they thought they had erased. I walked into the Melton estate and made an offer to the most powerful man in New York. "I'll save your grandfather's life," I told Horatio Melton, staring him down. "But the price is your last name. I'm taking back what's mine, and I'm starting with the man who thinks he's marrying my sister."

The heavy iron gates of the Wilderness Correction Camp groaned as they released me after three years of state-sponsored hell. I stood on the dirt road, clutching a plastic bag that held my entire life, waiting for the family that claimed they sent me there for "rehab." My brother, Brady, picked me up in a luxury SUV only to throw me out onto a deserted highway in the middle of a brewing storm. He told me I was a "public relations nightmare" and that the rain might finally wash the "stink" of the camp off me. He drove away, leaving me to limp miles through the mud on a snapped ankle. When I finally dragged myself to our family estate, my mother didn't offer a hug; she gasped in horror because my muddy clothes were ruining her Italian marble. They didn't give me my old room back. Instead, they banished me to a moldy gardener’s shack and hired a "babysitter" to make sure I didn't embarrass them further. My sister, Kaleigh, stood there in white cashmere, pretending to cry while clinging to her fiancé, Ambrose—the man who had once been mine. They all treated me like a volatile junkie, refusing to acknowledge that Kaleigh was the one who planted the drugs in my bag three years ago. They wanted to believe I was broken so they wouldn't have to feel guilty about the "wellness retreat" that was actually a torture chamber. I sat in the dark of that shed, feeling the cooling gel on the cigarette burns that covered my arms, and realized they had made a fatal mistake. They thought they had erased me, but I had returned with a roadmap of scars and a hidden satellite phone. At dinner, I didn't beg for their love. I simply rolled up my sleeves and showed them the price of their silence. As the wine spilled and the lies crumbled, I sent a single text to the only person I trusted: "I'm in. Let them simmer." The hunt was finally on.

I was once the heiress to the Solomon empire, but after it crumbled, I became the "charity case" ward of the wealthy Hyde family. For years, I lived in their shadows, clinging to the promise that Anson Hyde would always be my protector. That promise shattered when Anson walked into the ballroom with Claudine Chapman on his arm. Claudine was the girl who had spent years making my life a living hell, and now Anson was announcing their engagement to the world. The humiliation was instant. Guests sneered at my cheap dress, and a waiter intentionally sloshed champagne over me, knowing I was a nobody. Anson didn't even look my way; he was too busy whispering possessively to his new fiancée. I was a ghost in my own home, watching my protector celebrate with my tormentor. The betrayal burned. I realized I wasn't a ward; I was a pawn Anson had kept on a shelf until he found a better trade. I had no money, no allies, and a legal trust fund that Anson controlled with a flick of his wrist. Fleeing to the library, I stumbled into Dallas Koch—a titan of industry and my best friend’s father. He was a wall of cold, absolute power that even the Hydes feared. "Marry me," I blurted out, desperate to find a shield Anson couldn't climb. Dallas didn't laugh. He pulled out a marriage agreement and a heavy fountain pen. "Sign," he commanded, his voice a low rumble. "But if you walk out that door with me, you never go back." I signed my name, trading my life for the only man dangerous enough to keep me safe.
