While I was pregnant, my husband held a party downstairs for another woman's son. Through a hidden mental link, I overheard my husband, Don Dante Rossi, tell his consigliere he was going to publicly reject me tomorrow. He planned to make his mistress, Serena, his new mate. An act forbidden by ancient law while I carried his heir. Later, Serena cornered me, her smile venomous. When Dante appeared, she shrieked, clawing her own arm and blaming me for the attack. Dante didn't even look at me. He snarled a command that froze my body and stole my voice, ordering me from his sight as he cradled her. He moved her and her son into our master suite. I was demoted to the guest room at the end of the hall. Passing her open door, I saw him rocking her baby, humming the lullaby my own mother used to sing to me. I heard him promise her, "Soon, my love. I'll sever the bond and give you the life you deserve." The love I felt for him, the power I'd hidden for four years to protect his fragile ego, all turned to ice. He thought I was a weak, powerless wife he could discard. He was about to find out that the woman he betrayed was Alessia De Luca, princess of the most powerful family on the continent. And I was finally going home.

The Mafia King's Unwanted Pregnant Wife Chapter 1

I'll sever the bond and give you the life you deserve."

The love I felt for him, the power I'd hidden for four years to protect his fragile ego, all turned to ice.

He thought I was a weak, powerless wife he could discard. He was about to find out that the woman he betrayed was Alessia De Luca, princess of the most powerful family on the continent.

And I was finally going home.

Chapter 1

Alessia POV:

During my pregnancy, my husband had an affair with another woman.

My hand trembled, the glass of water sloshing over the rim and onto my fingers. Cold. It was a sharp, unwelcome sensation against my skin. I set the glass down on the marble countertop, my breath catching in my throat.

From the grand hall below, the sound of celebration drifted up-a swell of laughter and applause for a child that was not mine, for a woman who was not me.

A voice, warm and familiar, echoed in the quiet corners of my mind. It was my mother, Sofia, her consciousness reaching for mine across hundreds of miles. The mental link, a gift of the De Luca bloodline, was a silver thread connecting us.

*Alessia, my child. What is happening?*

I closed my eyes, leaning my forehead against the cool glass of the window. I could see the party spilling out onto the lawn, torches lighting up the manicured gardens of the Rossi estate. Dante's estate. My home.

*He's holding a ceremony,* I sent back, my thoughts a painful whisper. *For her. For Serena's son.*

*He dares?* My mother's thought was sharp, laced with the authority of the De Luca Matriarch. The Underworld knew her as the Silver Hand, a woman whose influence was as vast and deep as the ocean. The Rossi Family, in comparison, were new money, a loud and violent storm on the surface.

*He thinks it's the son of a fallen soldier,* I explained, the lie tasting like ash in my mouth. It was a convenient fiction Serena had spun, one Dante had swallowed whole. *He thinks he is showing loyalty to his men.*

*He is showing his weakness,* Sofia corrected, her voice a balm on my frayed nerves. *A Don blinded by a pretty face and a sad story is no Don at all. The De Luca Family does not deal in weakness.*

The weight of the moonstone necklace I wore felt heavy against my chest. It was a family heirloom, carved with the sigil of the White Wolf, meant to dampen my own aura, to hide the true power of my lineage so as not to bruise my husband's fragile ego. I had worn it for four years, dimming my own light so his could shine brighter.

For Dante.

*I know, Mama. I made a mistake.* The admission was a physical pain, a clenching in my chest that made it hard to breathe. I had believed in him. I had loved him. When we first met, it wasn't just an arranged marriage; it was a spark, a pull so strong it felt like destiny. He smelled of leather and gunpowder and something wild, something that called to the wolf in my blood.

He had promised me loyalty. He had sworn an oath. *The Supremacy of Loyalty* is the first law of our world. A Don's word is his bond, his family his strength.

*It was not a mistake to love, Alessia. It was his mistake to betray it,* my mother's voice was firm. *You are a De Luca. You are the true heir. You are not a victim. Now, tell me. What have you decided?*

*I'm leaving him.*

The thought was a blade, and for a moment, the pain was so sharp it stole my breath. But then, it was gone, leaving behind a cold, clean emptiness. It was done. The love had been hollowed out of me, leaving only duty. Duty to my name. Duty to my son.

*Good.* The approval in her thought was a shield around my heart. *My soldiers are waiting beyond the territory line. You will not be alone for a moment.*

I severed the connection, the comforting presence of my mother receding. The silence that followed was absolute.

From my place in the shadows of the upper gallery, I watched him. Don Dante Rossi, my husband, the leader of the Bloodstone Syndicate, held the small boy aloft for the crowd to see. Serena stood beside him, her hand possessively on Dante's arm, a triumphant smirk playing on her lips. She was a rogue, an outsider he'd brought into our family a year ago, and she had systematically poisoned every part of my life.

The crowd cheered. They cheered for the bastard child of a nobody while I, the mother of the true Rossi heir, stood hidden and forgotten. I could feel their thoughts, a murky tide of whispers and assumptions. They believed her lies. They saw me as the cold, barren wife, jealous of the fertile mistress.

I felt a kick, a small, reassuring flutter from within. My son. Our son.

My eyes found Dante's across the crowded hall. He was laughing, his dark eyes crinkling at the corners in that way that used to make my heart ache.

Then, I felt another connection open, not mine. It was his Consigliere, Enzo, his thoughts a worried murmur directed at his Don. *Dante, this is unwise. Alessia...*

Dante's mental reply was a dismissive wave of irritation. *Alessia will understand. She knows her duty.* He glanced up towards the gallery, his eyes scanning the shadows, and a cold command flowed from his mind, meant only for Enzo. *I'll deal with her later. I plan to reject her publicly tomorrow. It's time to make Serena my official mate.*

The words hit me like a physical blow. Rejection. It wasn't just a divorce. For our kind, it was a severing of the soul, a brutal act that would leave me broken and outcast.

He wouldn't dare. The ancient laws forbade it while I was carrying his heir.

Down below, some of the women were gossiping, their thoughts like sharp little needles. "She has nowhere else to go. Pregnant and alone? Dante will keep her around, but Serena is the future."

A cold fire started in my belly, burning away the last of the pain. It forged something new inside me. Strength. Resolve.

They thought I had no choice. They thought I was trapped.

I rested a hand on my stomach, a silent promise to my son.

They were all about to find out how wrong they were.

The acceptance letter from Sterling & Drake Architectural Firm was more than just paper; it was my future, a dream I had worked for my entire life, bought with my mother' s last breath. But on my first day, the receptionist delivered a chilling blow: "The new junior architect position has been filled. Chelsea Hayes started this morning." My job, my mother' s legacy, was gone. Then I heard her voice, light and carefree, with my fiancé, Daniel Cole. He had given my dream to the councilman' s daughter, openly admitting, "That position was perfect for you, and you needed it." He told me, "You're going to be my wife. You won't need a career." My shock turned to blinding rage. I threw my engagement ring at him, ending our future. I left that city, anonymously reporting his unethical actions, a promise that they wouldn't get away with it. But they weren' t done. Daniel twisted the story, painting me as a crazy stalker. I faced public humiliation, insults, and a mob that destroyed my mother's cherished offer letter. I ended up in the hospital, where Daniel blamed me for Chelsea' s fake suicide attempt: "You need to apologize. Right now. Tell Chelsea you're sorry for what you've put her through." I uttered the words, "I'm sorry," betraying myself and my mother. I was utterly defeated, fleeing the city once more, but this time, thugs kidnapped and stabbed me. Daniel saved me, but then asked me to drop charges against my attackers to protect his alliance with Chelsea' s corrupt father. "No," I declared. "You are pathetic. I will not let this go." My only mistake was believing he loved me. I had nothing left, except a fierce resolve. I knew then, they had destroyed everything, but they also set me free to fight back for my mother' s legacy.

My five-year-old daughter was dying in the ICU, her heartbeat replaced by the continuous, electronic scream of a flatline. I gripped her cold hand, my throat sealed shut by a terror so absolute I couldn't even cry out. I dialed my husband Grayson's private number, the one reserved only for me and his assistants. He declined the call instantly. A second later, a text buzzed against my palm: "In a meeting. Do not disturb. Stop calling." Five miles away, Grayson was at a luxury gala, adjusting his silk tie and laughing with Belle Escobar. He told her I was just being "dramatic" and using our daughter's "fever" as an excuse to avoid the event. He had no idea Effie's heart had already stopped. When I finally reached our penthouse, soaked from the rain and carrying Effie's small socks in a plastic bag, Grayson didn't even look at me. He snapped at me for ruining the hardwood floors and asked if I'd left Effie with the nanny just to "feel sorry for myself." Three days later, while I buried our daughter in a small, lonely ceremony, Grayson was at the Hamptons. Belle posted a photo of him golfing with the caption: "A mental health day with the boys." He didn't even attend the funeral, but he returned home demanding I clear out Effie's room to make a study for Belle's son. The injustice burned through me until there was nothing left. I swallowed a handful of sleeping pills, desperate to join my daughter. But instead of the darkness, I woke up to blinding lights and the scent of Grayson's expensive cologne. I was standing in a ballroom, wearing a blue silk dress I had already burned. Above me, a banner read: "Happy 5th Birthday Kaiden & Effie." I was back, exactly one year before the tragedy. This time, I wasn't going to be the grieving wife. I was going to be their worst nightmare.

I was once the heiress to the Solomon empire, but after it crumbled, I became the "charity case" ward of the wealthy Hyde family. For years, I lived in their shadows, clinging to the promise that Anson Hyde would always be my protector. That promise shattered when Anson walked into the ballroom with Claudine Chapman on his arm. Claudine was the girl who had spent years making my life a living hell, and now Anson was announcing their engagement to the world. The humiliation was instant. Guests sneered at my cheap dress, and a waiter intentionally sloshed champagne over me, knowing I was a nobody. Anson didn't even look my way; he was too busy whispering possessively to his new fiancée. I was a ghost in my own home, watching my protector celebrate with my tormentor. The betrayal burned. I realized I wasn't a ward; I was a pawn Anson had kept on a shelf until he found a better trade. I had no money, no allies, and a legal trust fund that Anson controlled with a flick of his wrist. Fleeing to the library, I stumbled into Dallas Koch—a titan of industry and my best friend’s father. He was a wall of cold, absolute power that even the Hydes feared. "Marry me," I blurted out, desperate to find a shield Anson couldn't climb. Dallas didn't laugh. He pulled out a marriage agreement and a heavy fountain pen. "Sign," he commanded, his voice a low rumble. "But if you walk out that door with me, you never go back." I signed my name, trading my life for the only man dangerous enough to keep me safe.
