Five years ago, Kyla Spencer was a top lawyer in the legal business. To save Gerald Spencer, who was then just a poor medical student in a PhD study, she risked her career and managed to clear his name from false accusations by a global medical giant. The cost was high; she offended the influential people and was secretly poisoned, losing her voice forever, making it impossible for her to stand in court again. Kyla hid her talent and quietly became Gerald's quiet girlfriend. After five years, Gerald had become a leading figure in the medical field, but his tenderness and patience now belonged to another woman. Wearing a white dress to look innocent and pure, his junior schoolmate mocked Kyla, "I heard you were a formidable lawyer back in the day. You certainly don't look like it now." Gerald, with a voice as cold as ice, defined Kyla's sacrifice as a burden. "Kyla, I need a partner who can stand by my side, not a patient I have to care for." As the love of the past turned into a piercing blade, Kyla thought she would drown in silent despair until an email from her former colleague was received. "Do you still want to know why that company was willing to spend a fortune to falsely accuse a penniless student back then?" It turned out she had lost more than her voice and love. What she had once protected with her life was a meticulously orchestrated scam from beginning to end.

Awake, Rise, And Counterattack After My Husband's Betrayal Chapter 1 Celebration Party

You certainly don't look like it now."

Gerald, with a voice as cold as ice, defined Kyla's sacrifice as a burden. "Kyla, I need a partner who can stand by my side, not a patient I have to care for."

As the love of the past turned into a piercing blade, Kyla thought she would drown in silent despair until an email from her former colleague was received. "Do you still want to know why that company was willing to spend a fortune to falsely accuse a penniless student back then?"

It turned out she had lost more than her voice and love. What she had once protected with her life was a meticulously orchestrated scam from beginning to end.

This time, Kyla would no longer remain silent.

...

Gerald's celebration banquet was held at a luxurious revolving rooftop restaurant atop the tallest building in Harppek.

The chandeliers sparkled like a sea of stars, amidst the fragrance of perfume and the clatter of glasses and lively chatter.

Gerald stood at the center of the crowd in a perfectly tailored suit, engaging in lively conversation with several business tycoons.

He was undoubtedly the star of the evening, as the new drug developed by his team would bring billions in profits to the Paragon Group behind him.

Kyla sat quietly in a booth in the corner, like a shadow in the background, completely out of place with the surrounding buzz.

She wore a simple black long dress, her unadorned face appearing somewhat colorless under the dazzling lights.

She simply watched Gerald, her gaze penetrating the crowd to rest on his confident profile.

Five years had passed, and he was no longer the helpless and stubborn, poor student in a faded shirt standing in court.

"Gerald, Brineprist University called again just now, inviting you to give an academic talk next month," a sweet female voice rose beside him.

It was Aubrey Sullivan, Gerald's most valued junior schoolmate, and a core member of his team.

Aubrey wore a white gauzy dress today, her long hair cascading down, her face showing the perfect amount of admiration and affection, naturally standing closest to Gerald, as if she were the hostess of the party.

Gerald leaned over to whisper a few words to her, and Aubrey nodded with a smile, turning around to raise her glass, deftly mingling on his behalf, embodying his spokesperson.

Kyla cast down her eyes, silently rotating the glass in her hand.

In five years, she had accompanied Gerald from having nothing to achieving great success, yet she watched herself transform from a sharp-tongued, world-turning star lawyer in the courtroom to a silent observer from a corner.

Just then, Aubrey approached her with a glass of wine, smiling brightly. "Kyla, why are you sitting here all alone? On such an important day for Gerald, you should be happy for him." With that, she naturally sat down beside Kyla.

Kyla forced a smile as a response.

Aubrey, seemingly oblivious to her aloofness, leaned in closer with even more enthusiasm, her voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper, laced with innocent curiosity, "Kyla, Gerald told me you used to be a particularly impressive lawyer, commanding the courtroom with authority. I really wish I could have seen you back then. You must have been captivating."

Kyla's grip on her glass tightened, her knuckles turning pale.

Aubrey continued, her tone shifting to one of regret, "Ah, it's such a pity... How did you suddenly lose your voice? Now, you are nothing like what Gerald described."

Each word pierced precisely into Kyla's most painful wound. She was about to pick up her phone to type a message for Aubrey to leave her alone when Aubrey suddenly let out a small cry, her hand slipping and spilling the red wine all over Kyla's black dress.

"I'm sorry. I'm terribly sorry, Kyla. I didn't mean to." Aubrey immediately stood up, hastily pulling out tissues to wipe Kyla's dress, her actions exaggeratedly sincere.

Her exclamation successfully drew the attention of everyone nearby, including Gerald not far away. He walked over, frowning.

Aubrey's eyes instantly turned red with tears when she saw him, and she almost sobbed, "Gerald, I... I didn't mean to. I accidentally spilled the wine on Kyla... Kyla, are you alright? Please don't be mad..." She turned to Kyla, her face full of innocence and concern. "Are you upset because I dirtied your dress? But... but I forgot you can't speak, and if you're angry, I can't hear it..."

That sentence exploded in Kyla's mind like a bolt from the blue. Her face turned deathly pale as she looked up, gazing intently at Aubrey.

Gerald's gaze lingered on Kyla's soaked dress for a moment before turning to the tearful Aubrey.

He extended his hand, not to help Kyla up, but to gently pat Aubrey on her shoulder, his voice a softness that Kyla had never heard before. "It's alright. Don't cry. I know you didn't do it on purpose." He didn't even ask Kyla if she was okay.

He simply used that soothing tone with Aubrey, then turned to Kyla, his brows slightly furrowed, his tone carrying a hint of impatience. "Your dress is wet. Just go home and change. Don't ruin everyone's mood here."

Ruin everyone's mood? To him, her public humiliation was merely an inconvenience to others.

Kyla's heart felt as if it was being squeezed by an invisible hand, the pain so intense she could hardly breathe.

She looked at Gerald, seeing the protection he offered Aubrey and the indifference he showed her, a chill seeping from her feet to her core.

Without another glance at them, Kyla picked up her purse, stood up silently, and walked out of the suffocating celebration banquet, step by step, under the gaze of sympathy, regret, and amusement.

As she stepped out of the revolving restaurant, the cold wind hit her face.

Leaning against the icy railing, Kyla trembled all over. She remembered five years ago, on a night like this, she had won that almost impossible case. Gerald, impoverished, hugged her tightly at the courthouse door, as if clinging to the only lifeline, his voice choked with emotion. "Kyla, wait for me. I will give you a life beyond your dreams."

She believed his promise. For him, she suffered retaliation, was poisoned, lost her voice, and lost her entire world.

And Gerald, while giving her a life beyond her dreams, also gave her the deepest humiliation and the coldest betrayal.

For two years, I was Alpha Jase Davenport's loyal assistant and secret bed-warmer. Because I was a wolfless Omega, I trusted his empty promises instead of instincts I didn't possess. Then, a push notification from a notorious gossip blog shattered my world. Jase was pictured in Paris, his hand intimately resting on the waist of my cruel stepsister, Kira. The headline screamed that he was finally claiming his fated Luna. Before I could even process the betrayal, Jase texted me a cold command to update his schedule, treating me like a soulless employee. Immediately after, my mother called to gloat. "Did you honestly believe an Alpha like Jase would settle for a defective creature like you?" She threatened to freeze my late father's Pack trust fund unless I agreed to marry an abusive, elderly Alpha to be his breeding mare. If I refused, I would be cast out as a penniless stray, easy prey for any Rogue. I was nothing but a convenient placeholder to Jase, and a piece of livestock to my own family. They thought they had me completely cornered, ready to steal my inheritance and leave me to die. But as the panic subsided, a cold clarity took its place. My father's will only required a legal mating bond to unlock my millions; it never said my family had to approve of the groom. I wiped my tears, opened my laptop, and searched for a disgraced, debt-ridden Rogue named Babe Vincent. If I needed a husband on paper to secure my freedom, I was going to buy one.

While I Was Bleeding Out, He Lit Lanterns For Her

Katie Oettgen

As I lay on the floor of our manor, bleeding out from a ruptured ectopic pregnancy, I used my last ounce of strength to call my husband, Cole. I begged him for help, my vision blurring. But the only thing I heard was the clinking of champagne glasses and his mistress's giggle in the background. "Stop the drama, June," Cole snapped, his voice cold. "We're about to go on stage. Don't call again." He hung up, leaving me to die alone on the Persian rug while he accepted an award with another woman on his arm. I woke up in the hospital days later. My baby was gone. They had removed my fallopian tube. Cole finally arrived, smelling of expensive scotch and his mistress's perfume. He didn't hug me. He didn't cry. Instead, he leaned over my hospital bed, pressing his knee into the mattress until my fresh stitches tore open and bled. "You embarrassed me by calling an ambulance," he hissed. "My mistress, Alycia, says you're faking it. Clean yourself up." He left me bleeding again to go announce a $10 million donation to Alycia's "groundbreaking" medical research. I stared at the TV screen, numb. The research Alycia was taking credit for? It was mine. I wrote that patent years ago under a pseudonym. They thought I was just a poor, orphan housewife who needed Cole's money to survive. They had no idea I was actually a billionaire scientist hiding my identity. I pulled the IV needle out of my arm. A drop of blood fell onto the divorce papers I had been hiding. I didn't wipe it off. I signed my name right over it. Then I walked into the bank, reactivated my dormant account with $128 million, and bought the penthouse directly overlooking Cole's house. The mourning widow is dead. The avenger is born.

No Longer Mrs. Cooley: The Architect's Return

I went to the City Clerk's office for a routine copy of my marriage license to finalize a trust fund audit. I expected a simple piece of paper, but the clerk's pitying look told me my entire life was a lie. "The license was never finalized, Ms. Oliver. In the eyes of the state, you are single." The three-hundred-guest wedding at the Plaza and the Vogue features meant nothing. My husband, Gray Cooley, had intentionally filed the documents with a "procedural defect" so he could discard me without a legal divorce. Moments later, an iCloud invite titled "Our Little Secret" popped up on my screen. It was a photo of my best friend, Brylee, holding a positive pregnancy test at our Hamptons estate. Gray's text to her was the final blow: "Happy anniversary, babe. This baby is the best gift. Once the trust unlocks today, we're done with the charade." I soon discovered they were even stealing my career, reassigning my architectural masterpiece to Brylee while preparing my eviction notice. Gray's mother called me a "barren mule" in a leaked recording, mocking the infertility I suffered after saving Gray's life in a construction accident. I wasn't a wife; I was a three-year placeholder used to secure his inheritance. How could the man I bled for treat me like a disposable prop? How could my best friend carry his child while pretending to comfort me through my darkest moments? The betrayal burned until it turned into a cold, hard stone of fury. I didn't cry. Instead, I walked into the penthouse of the Barretts, the Cooleys' most powerful rivals. I signed a marriage contract with Kane Barrett, the man the tabloids called the "Beast of Wall Street." "I want a wedding," I told his father, my voice steady and lethal. "Bigger than the one I had with Gray." If they wanted me gone, they would have to watch me become the woman who owns their world.

Cheated On Me? I Married a Tycoon

Cheated On Me? I Married a Tycoon

Rum Runner

I spent three years building my husband, Axel Farrell, into Silicon Valley's ultimate "family man." As his lead PR strategist, I carefully managed his public image, making sure the world saw him as a perfect, devoted husband while I worked in the shadows of our estate. The illusion shattered when he came home one night smelling of sandalwood and roses, with three deep fingernail scratches carved into his back. When I tried to check his phone, the passcode we had used for years-our wedding anniversary-had been changed. The betrayal got worse the next morning when his mother called me a "defective product" and tried to force me into a fertility clinic. Axel didn't defend me; instead, he shoved me against a marble bar at a public gala to protect his mistress in front of the world's elite. By the time I tried to leave, Axel had frozen my bank accounts and filed a forged legal petition to have me declared mentally incompetent. He planned to have me legally kidnapped and locked in a private psychiatric ward just to stop me from filing for divorce. He even blocked every major law firm in the city from taking my case, leaving me with no money, no identity, and no one to turn to. I couldn't understand how the man who "saved" me from the mud years ago could be the same monster now trying to legally erase my existence. Was our entire marriage just a grooming process to exploit my genius for his billion-dollar empire? As the deadline for my forced commitment approached, I stopped crying and opened my laptop. I leaked the video of his affair to every tech journalist in the country, watching his stock price crash in real-time. "Axel thinks starving me out will make me crawl back to him," I whispered as I walked into the headquarters of his biggest rival. "But he forgot that the most valuable part of his company is in my head." I was no longer the abandoned wife; I was the one who was going to take his throne and burn it to the ground.
