Chapter 1 Meeting friends

They met in the University during a class, a few weeks before their matriculation, yet it seems like they have known each other for years.  They were studying the same course - English and Literature and were in their first year with everything still looking a bit strange to them.  The three friends - Anne, Josephine, and Naomi were very different individuals with some similarities.  While Anne and Naomi were both from Edo State, Josephine was from Delta State.  Both Anne and Josephine were Catholics while Naomi attended a Pentecostal church.

They had gathered for a class at a one-thousand-capacity lecture theatre(LT) and after waiting for close to one hour, it became obvious that the class would not hold.  The moment the class rep announced that the class had been canceled, the hall became momentarily rowdy as the majority of the students were going out of the hall at the same time.

"I'm going back to the hostel" Naomi announced, standing up from where she sat.

When she received no response from either Anne or Josephine who were engrossed in their phone, she became pissed and left.

The hall was almost empty when the two friends decided to go home.

Chapter 1 Third Anniversary

It was an especially warm night in Ye City.

Malcolm Quan drove through the neighborhood, passing through all the other familiar trees and houses.  Finally, he arrived at his apartment.  Getting off the car, Malcolm went up to the door and pressed his finger on the scanner.  The door then opened with a slight beep and click.  Much to his disappointment, he saw the bright hall was empty.  "Poppi?" he called out.

There was no answer.  'Where did you go?'

After closing the door behind him, he put the documents in his hand on the sofa and went upstairs to the bedroom.

"Poppi?" he shouted once more.  "Where are you?"  When Malcolm Quan had reached the bedroom, he saw that there were clothes of a woman strewn across the bed, and heard the sound of running water in the bathroom.

Splish, splash!  Splish, splash!

Just then, he faintly heard the voice of a woman coming through the crack of the bathroom door.  Shortly afterwards, the person inside had turned the water off.  Malcolm Quan looked in the direction of the bathroom reflexively.  The door was only opened by a couple of inches.  Nevertheless, he could easily see the perfect, curvy figure inside.

Winter's P.O.V

I walk towards my locker and immediately frown when I see the one and only Gemma Hill standing against it, smirking at me like I am a pathetic excuse of a girl.

I ignore her and start to fiddle with my locker, opening it and starting to take my books out for my first class.  I close my locker and as I turn around, I notice that Gemma has disappeared.  I furrow my eyebrows in confusion but inside my head, I am fist bumping the air.

Is this the day Gemma Hill is done with the dare?  Is she finally out of my life?  I smile and spin around to walk to my first class but stop in my tracks when I see Gemma's group of friends standing behind the captain of the cheerleading squad, aka, Gemma.

"What do you want, Gemma?"  I ask her, my smile gone now.  She flicks her blonde hair over her shoulder and hands me an envelope.

"It's Monday remember?"  Gemma smiles at me and I sigh, knowing that my daily routine is ruined, just like every other Monday.

I nod and she pats my head how a person pats their dog's head when it obeys it's owner...  and that's what I am.

Somewhere in the medieval city of Rome, as the moon cast a mystique glow out of the pitch-dark night, a white luxurious cruise ship silently transcended the calm torrents of the ocean.   The festivity in the ship was heightened as it was filled with singing and dancing.   Everyone on board was in a sprite, enjoying the lively and cordial atmosphere.

Meanwhile, in a deluxe room of the ship, the silhouette cast on the glass door was blurred by the steam of the hot shower, making it mysteriously attractive.   The sound of water dripping on the floor strikingly contrasted the silence of the night.   Inside the room, the ambiance was cozy and charming.

On the other side of the glass door, a man was patiently waiting.   He leaned himself against the board of the bed.   Between his slender fingers, a half-burnt cigarette lay pinched.   Sipping his cigar, he felt boosted knowing that smoking was regarded as the symbol of masculinity.   Gently tapping the ashes of his cigar, he took a heavy breath and spluttered out a beautiful array of smoke rings.   He regarded the playful smokes as an art piece.

The man's wheat-colored skin exuded a healthy glow under the dim light.   His build was lean and firm without any extra trace of fat.   Every aspect of his appearance was just so perfect.
