Natalie Harrington never expected that less than a year after remarrying, Adrian Brown would cheat on her again. As the design director of Brown Group, she had worked late into the night once again. When she returned home, she saw the servants standing in a row at the foot of the stairs, blocking the way. The moment they spotted her, their faces turned deathly ashen. "Mrs. Brown... why are you back? Didn't Mr. Brown say you'd be working through the night and wouldn't be coming home? I... I'll go upstairs and ask him to come down." As the servant turned and went upstairs, Natalie heard the sounds coming from above. "Ah... that feels so good! Adrian, slow down, I can't take it..." "Go on. Louder. Natalie isn't home anyway. You can scream all you want." "You're so bad... ah!" Seeing Natalie's expressionless face, the servant asked nervously, "Mrs. Brown, I'll go tell Mr. Brown right away that you're back." "No need." Natalie turned and walked toward the dining room, her voice calm. "I'm hungry. Prepare a late-night meal for me." The servants were utterly shocked, not expecting her to remain so composed, unaware that she had already decided to divorce.

Forgive the Knife, Not the Lie Chapter 1

Natalie Harrington never expected that less than a year after remarrying, Adrian Brown would cheat on her again.

As the design director of Brown Group, she had worked late into the night once again. When she returned home, she saw the servants standing in a row at the foot of the stairs, blocking the way.

The moment they spotted her, their faces turned deathly ashen.

"Mrs. Brown... why are you back? Didn't Mr. Brown say you'd be working through the night and wouldn't be coming home? I... I'll go upstairs and ask him to come down."

As the servant turned and went upstairs, Natalie heard the sounds coming from above.

"Ah... that feels so good! Adrian, slow down, I can't take it..."

"Go on. Louder. Natalie isn't home anyway. You can scream all you want."

"You're so bad... ah!"

Seeing Natalie's expressionless face, the servant asked nervously, "Mrs. Brown, I'll go tell Mr. Brown right away that you're back."

"No need." Natalie turned and walked toward the dining room, her voice calm. "I'm hungry. Prepare a late-night meal for me."

"That's it?" The servant froze, staring at Natalie in disbelief.

"Did Mrs. Brown just say she was hungry?"

"If this were before, she would've stormed upstairs and dragged that woman down for a beating."

"Yeah. Three years ago, Mrs. Brown beat that woman so badly she nearly ended up in the hospital. If Mr. Brown hadn't stopped her, that woman might've died."

"Maybe she's completely disappointed now. After all, Mr. Brown once promised he'd never cheat again."

......

Their words all reached Natalie's ears, yet she showed no reaction.

Three years earlier, when Adrian cheated for the first time, Natalie beat the woman mercilessly, then immediately demanded a divorce.

No matter how he begged, she never wavered.

Less than a year after she left, Adrian searched the entire world and finally found Natalie.

To beg her to come back, he lashed himself ninety-nine times right in front of her.

With every strike, he said, "I'm sorry."

After ninety-nine apologies, Natalie finally softened.

After they remarried, Adrian treated her well, as if he wanted to give her his entire heart.

He canceled every unnecessary social engagement and came home on time every day to be with her.

He even cooked for her himself, making her favorite ribs.

Knowing she loved white roses, he personally bought a hundred acres of land and planted an entire field of them, just to make her smile.

What Natalie never expected was that in just nine months, he cheated again.

After she finished eating, the sounds upstairs still hadn't stopped.

Even the servants couldn't help complaining, "Why isn't Mr. Brown done yet? That woman is unbelievable. Every time she comes, it drags on until midnight."

Only then did Natalie realize this wasn't the first time Adrian had brought that woman home.

She wiped her mouth and stood up, heading upstairs.

It wasn't her first time catching Adrian cheating, but this time, she was far calmer.

When the door opened, she saw two bodies tangled together on the bed at a glance.

"Adrian, you're amazing! Are you this intense with your wife in bed too?"

"Natalie is fragile. I'd never treat her like this. I love her. Do you understand?"

"That's awful. So you don't love me? You even use a whip on me. Why don't you do that to her?"

"Because... I can't bear to hurt her..."

Watching the two figures entangled together, Natalie was reminded of her past with Adrian.

The Harrington family and the Brown family had been close for generations, and the two of them had known each other since childhood.

When Natalie was very young, her mother had already told her that she would marry Adrian one day.

She had feelings for him and never thought about refusing.

Adrian was two years younger than Natalie and loved to play from a young age.

He disliked studying and had no interest in learning the family business.

Natalie was like an older sister to him, patiently teaching him how to study and how to manage the family business.

Whenever he made mistakes, she stood in front of him and took the blame.

The words Adrian said to her most often were, "Natalie, what would I do without you?"

Later, they got married.

On their wedding night, Adrian kissed her brows, her eyes, her nose, her lips with tenderness.

Knowing how afraid of pain she was, he was as gentle as possible when he took her.

The moment she shed tears, he pulled her tightly into his arms and promised, "Natalie, I love you. I'll love you for the rest of my life."

That night, Adrian was as happy as if he had the whole world.

Natalie believed they would be happy like that forever.

But what was meant to come always did. A year ago, Adrian still cheated.

She thought forgiving him once meant there wouldn't be a second time. Less than a year later, he cheated again.

And this time, Natalie knew their relationship had reached its end.

I went to the City Clerk’s office for a routine copy of my marriage license to finalize a trust fund audit. I expected a simple piece of paper, but the clerk’s pitying look told me my entire life was a lie. "The license was never finalized, Ms. Oliver. In the eyes of the state, you are single." The three-hundred-guest wedding at the Plaza and the Vogue features meant nothing. My husband, Gray Cooley, had intentionally filed the documents with a "procedural defect" so he could discard me without a legal divorce. Moments later, an iCloud invite titled "Our Little Secret" popped up on my screen. It was a photo of my best friend, Brylee, holding a positive pregnancy test at our Hamptons estate. Gray’s text to her was the final blow: "Happy anniversary, babe. This baby is the best gift. Once the trust unlocks today, we’re done with the charade." I soon discovered they were even stealing my career, reassigning my architectural masterpiece to Brylee while preparing my eviction notice. Gray's mother called me a "barren mule" in a leaked recording, mocking the infertility I suffered after saving Gray’s life in a construction accident. I wasn't a wife; I was a three-year placeholder used to secure his inheritance. How could the man I bled for treat me like a disposable prop? How could my best friend carry his child while pretending to comfort me through my darkest moments? The betrayal burned until it turned into a cold, hard stone of fury. I didn't cry. Instead, I walked into the penthouse of the Barretts, the Cooleys' most powerful rivals. I signed a marriage contract with Kane Barrett, the man the tabloids called the "Beast of Wall Street." "I want a wedding," I told his father, my voice steady and lethal. "Bigger than the one I had with Gray." If they wanted me gone, they would have to watch me become the woman who owns their world.

The Ghost Wife's Billion Dollar Tech Comeback

Today is October 14th, my birthday. I returned to New York after months away, dragging my suitcase through the biting wind, but the VIP pickup zone where my husband's Maybach usually idled was empty. When I finally let myself into our Upper East Side penthouse, I didn't find a cake or a "welcome home" banner. Instead, I found my husband, Caden, kneeling on the floor, helping our five-year-old daughter wrap a massive gift for my half-sister, Adalynn. Caden didn't even look up when I walked in; he was too busy laughing with the girl who had already stolen my father's legacy and was now moving in on my family. "Auntie Addie is a million times better than Mommy," my daughter Elara chirped, clutching a plush toy Caden had once forbidden me from buying for her. "Mommy is mean," she whispered loudly, while Caden just smirked, calling me a "drill sergeant" before whisking her off to Adalynn's party without a second glance. Later that night, I saw a video Adalynn posted online where my husband and child laughed while mocking my "sensitive" nature, treating me like an inconvenient ghost in my own home. I had spent five years researching nutrition for Elara's health and managing every detail of Caden's empire, only to be discarded the moment I wasn't in the room. How could the man who set his safe combination to my birthday completely forget I even existed? The realization didn't break me; it turned me into ice. I didn't scream or beg for an explanation. I simply walked into the study, pulled out the divorce papers I'd drafted months ago, and took a black marker to the terms. I crossed out the alimony, the mansion, and even the custody clause-if they wanted a life without me, I would give them exactly what they asked for. I left my four-carat diamond ring on the console table and walked out into the rain with nothing but a heavily encrypted hard drive. The submissive Mrs. Holloway was gone, and "Ghost," the most lethal architect in the tech world, was finally back online to take back everything they thought I'd forgotten.
