To complete the first task she had been assigned by the detective agency, Sophia quietly snuck into the room of Louis Lu, the president as well as the chairman of the YH Group. Without warning, he pounced on her. A meaningful smile appeared on his face as he looked down at her. "I'm very satisfied with you. And I'm sure the feeling is mutual. I'm looking forward to our next rendezvous!" The man was a devil, and she couldn't afford to sell her soul to him.

Love Tricks: Trap A Sweetie Chapter 1 Hotel

In the Vilna Hotel, Y City.

At the door of a presidential suite, Sophia Ning was poking her hairpin into the locks skillfully.

She had already tampered with the camera, and all she needed to do next was to open the door within a minute.

With a small click, the door finally swung open. Sophia Ning looked around. When she saw that no one was in the corridor, she quietly snuck into the room.

With the sound of the door closing right behind her, a woman walked out of the shadow. Her eyes swept across the closed room, and a smile tugged her lips.

There was no one in the living room besides Sophia Ning. However, when she entered the bedroom, she saw a handsome man on a luxurious bed.

Her eyes widened.

What was going on?

The man on the bed was the fiance of the daughter of the Lu Family. He was the president as well as the chairman of the YH Group.

He was none other than Louis Lu.

Was this a joke? She leaned in closer.

No. It was impossible.

"All right." She took a deep breath. "Let's get to work." Sophia Ning quickly took out her lens from her backpack before walking to the bedside.

Without another word, she took dozens of photos.

However, as she glanced at each angle and shot, she felt unsatisfied by her pictures. Her lips twitched. If only he could show more of his body...

She glanced at the comatose man with a gleam in her eyes.

With an evil smile, Sophia Ning kicked off her shoes and climbed on top of the bed. She stretched out her hands.

Twenty centimeters, ten centimeters, five centimeters...

Seeing as her fingertips were about to touch his bath towel, Louis Lu finally opened his eyes.

Unprepared to meet his deep gaze, Sophia Ning stumbled back as the smile froze on her face.

"How did you get in here?" Louis Lu stared at the woman who had suddenly appeared in front of him. His eyes was filled with astonishment.

Sophia flushed at the accusation. She quickly withdraw her arms. "I just came in. I wasn't trying to molest you," she said quickly. "All I wanted was to take a few..." The word 'pictures' died in her throat.

He followed her gaze to his feet only to find out that he was tied to the bed posts. His eyes glinted with anger as he stared up at the woman.

Of all the things she had done, she had the nerve to tie him up?

"I don't care what you did. Untie me. Now!"

Sophia snorted. "You really think I'm that stupid? No way in hell I would do that now. Plus, I haven't taken my pictures yet." Seeing that he was all tied up, she wanted to use the opportunity to get all the pictures she needed before heading off.

This was the first case she had taken from a detective agency, and all she wanted was a five-star rating from her customer. She readied her camera,

ignoring the man's ferocious glare.

"Shit!" Louis Lu cursed. Right at that moment, he could feel that a certain warm heat was flowing down his system, making him feel hot under the air conditioned room. He tried to wriggle out of the ropes, but it was to no avail. "Untie me and leave me," he warned. "Or you'll regret it."

"What the hell can you do to me like this?" Sophia snorted, taking another round of pictures.

"You..." He gritted his teeth as he broke through the ropes.

Without another word, he pounced at her.

For ten years, I lived as the "grateful orphan" in the Barnes manor, a shadow in their glittering world who endured every silent scoff and cold dismissal. I thought I had earned my place through silence and dedication, but I was nothing more than a charity project they were finally ready to discard. At dinner, Richard slid a thick envelope across the marble table and told me my "biological parents" from a rural wasteland were coming to pick me up the next morning. It was a hundred-thousand-dollar severance package, a final payment to buy my disappearance and ensure their social circle remained untainted by my presence. The exit turned into a nightmare when Mia tried to frame me for stealing a diamond necklace during a fake goodbye hug. Susan shrieked that I was a common thief, and Richard snatched the check back, sneering that I didn’t deserve a single cent of their mercy. They mocked my tattered sweaters and my medical textbooks, laughing as they predicted I would end up begging for scraps on the street. I stood in the driveway with my single, scuffed suitcase, listening to their cruel laughter ring out from the porch. They wanted to see me crumble, to see the "charity case" break down in tears as they pushed me into the gutter, never realizing that the ten years I spent with them was merely a test of their character—one they had failed miserably. The mockery stopped the moment a battered, bullet-riddled Rolls Royce Phantom roared onto the gravel. An impeccably dressed butler stepped out and bowed deeply, his voice booming across the lawn as he addressed me by the name they had never heard. "Miss Pennington, the Board of Directors is waiting for your arrival to finalize the takeover." The color drained from the Barnes' faces as I stepped into the car, leaving behind the girl they thought they knew. I wasn't going to a farm; I was going to the boardroom of the Pennington Group to sign the papers that would strip the Barnes family of everything they owned by sunset.

The heavy iron gates of the Wilderness Correction Camp groaned as they released me after three years of state-sponsored hell. I stood on the dirt road, clutching a plastic bag that held my entire life, waiting for the family that claimed they sent me there for "rehab." My brother, Brady, picked me up in a luxury SUV only to throw me out onto a deserted highway in the middle of a brewing storm. He told me I was a "public relations nightmare" and that the rain might finally wash the "stink" of the camp off me. He drove away, leaving me to limp miles through the mud on a snapped ankle. When I finally dragged myself to our family estate, my mother didn't offer a hug; she gasped in horror because my muddy clothes were ruining her Italian marble. They didn't give me my old room back. Instead, they banished me to a moldy gardener’s shack and hired a "babysitter" to make sure I didn't embarrass them further. My sister, Kaleigh, stood there in white cashmere, pretending to cry while clinging to her fiancé, Ambrose—the man who had once been mine. They all treated me like a volatile junkie, refusing to acknowledge that Kaleigh was the one who planted the drugs in my bag three years ago. They wanted to believe I was broken so they wouldn't have to feel guilty about the "wellness retreat" that was actually a torture chamber. I sat in the dark of that shed, feeling the cooling gel on the cigarette burns that covered my arms, and realized they had made a fatal mistake. They thought they had erased me, but I had returned with a roadmap of scars and a hidden satellite phone. At dinner, I didn't beg for their love. I simply rolled up my sleeves and showed them the price of their silence. As the wine spilled and the lies crumbled, I sent a single text to the only person I trusted: "I'm in. Let them simmer." The hunt was finally on.

The sterile white of the operating room blurred, then sharpened, as Skye Sterling felt the cold clawing its way up her body. The heart monitor flatlined, a steady, high-pitched whine announcing her end. Her uterus had been removed, a desperate attempt to stop the bleeding, but the blood wouldn't clot. It just kept flowing, warm and sticky, pooling beneath her. Through heavy eyes, she saw a trembling nurse holding a phone on speaker. "Mr. Kensington," the nurse's voice cracked, "your wife... she's critical." A pause, then a sweet, poisonous giggle. Seraphina Miller. "Liam is in the shower," Seraphina's voice purred. "Stop calling, Skye. It's pathetic. Faking a medical emergency on our anniversary? Even for you, that's low." Then, Liam's bored voice: "If she dies, call the funeral home. I have a meeting in the morning." Click. The line went dead. A second later, so did Skye. The darkness that followed was absolute, suffocating, a black ocean crushing her lungs. She screamed into the void, a silent, agonizing wail of regret for loving a man who saw her as a nuisance, for dying without ever truly living. Until she died, she didn't understand. Why was her life so tragically wasted? Why did her husband, the man she loved, abandon her so cruelly? The injustice of it all burned hotter than the fever in her body. Then, the air rushed back in. Skye gasped, her body convulsing violently on the mattress. Her eyes flew open, wide and terrified, staring blindly into the darkness. Her trembling hand reached for her phone. May 12th. Five years ago. She was back.

I was the titan of Wall Street until an indictment and an ankle monitor turned my penthouse into a gilded cage. To save face, I was forced into a marriage with Elza, a "mute" girl from the Schmidt family whom I treated as nothing more than a silent piece of furniture while my empire crumbled. The night I was poisoned at a high-society gala, a mysterious server in an oversized uniform saved my life with terrifying, clinical precision. They disappeared into the night, leaving me with a silver cufflink and a burning obsession to find the shadow who held my life in their hands. Back home, I took my frustration out on Elza, telling her she was "exhausting to look at" and "smelled like sickness" after her charity visits. Her own family treated her like a stray dog, trying to humiliate her at the next gala by dressing her in what they claimed was a cheap knockoff while whispering to the press that she was nothing but a high-end escort. "Stay out of my way," I would growl at her, never noticing the steel in her eyes. I sat at my table, watching my rivals' stocks plummet and wondering who "The Zero"—the legendary financial ghost—really was. I never suspected that the woman I ignored was the same one solving the equations that were currently burning Manhattan to the ground. The injustice peaked when Elza stood before the city's elite, not as a victim, but as a queen. She dropped over a hundred million dollars to buy back her family’s legacy, revealing a secret fortune that made my own empire look like pocket change. As I grabbed her wrist and saw the small red mole hidden beneath her watch, the truth hit me like a physical blow. The silent wife I had despised was the savior I had been hunting, and she was finally done playing the victim. "We have a lot to talk about, wife," I whispered, realizing I had been sleeping next to the most dangerous woman in the world.
