Susan was unable to handle the cruel reality of witnessing her mother's death when she was only eight years old, and ended up blacking out and losing her memory. When she regained consciousness, Richie was the first person she saw, announcing himself as her fiance. Their engagement party was to be held on her eighteenth birthday, but was ruined by the arrival of Kirk! He had been missing for ten years. She didn't even recognize him; he was the one she had once promised to marry. She was his and he would not let anyone take her away from him.
A boy and girl were standing in front of the wishing fountain in Roma Square. The girl's thick, wavy hair was luscious and her eyes were like two big grapes. Her long eyelashes fluttered like butterflies above her eyes. She looked like an angel that fell into the mortal world with her pearl white skin and white lace dress.
The boy's flaxen hair shone in the sun, and his skin was as delicate as porcelain while his eyes sparkled like sapphires. His thin lips were like roses, noble and elegant. The beautiful twosome attracted the attention of all the tourists around them.
"Susan, what's your wish?" The boy held the girl's hand and caressed her cheek softly.
"I wish to be Kirk's beautiful bride when I grow up." Kirk Criss held Susan Leng in his arms and she raised her head, awaiting his reply.
"Okay, Susan. Promise me that we will never leave each other," said Kirk Criss, hugging the little girl tightly. He lowered his head and gave her a feathery-soft kiss.
"The deal has been sealed. Kirk can only be Susan's. Ha-ha!" Susan Leng stood on her tiptoes and kissed him on his lips. Kirk Criss held the little girl more tightly, fearing that she would fall down.
This endearing scene made the tourists around them stop and watch. "These two children are amazing." "They are so beautiful." "Their love is so pure." "They have touched my soul."
Susan Leng was seven years old that year and Kirk Criss was twelve.
In a traditional house, an eight-year-old girl watched in horror as a man in black pointed a gun at her mother. She didn't know what they were talking about.
Suddenly, her mother fell to the ground motionlessly. The man in black turned around and left. The girl did not see his face. She did not know who the man was and why he shot her mother.
She threw herself on the corpse and wailed, "Mommy, don't sleep! Open your eyes and look at Susan. I will be very obedient and won't make you angry again. Mommy, you said you would buy me a doll.
How can you forget? Wake up!"
Seeing that her mother didn't move and her face remained expressionless, Susan Leng shook her chest and cried, "Mommy, you said that you would take me to the amusement park tomorrow for my birthday. How could you lie to me?"
However, that woman didn't wake up despite her distraught daughter's persistent efforts. Susan Leng's tears wet her clothes.
The wind blew wildly into the house, and whipped up Susan Leng's long hair and bloodied clothes.
A chill passed through her frail body, making her curl up and snuggle up to her stiff mother.
All of a sudden, a bolt of lightning streaked through the dark sky, followed by a deafening thunder. Susan shrieked and covered her ears tightly. She trembled and her frightened eyes darted around. The dark night was like a devil. She quivered and kept repeating in disbelief, "No! No!"
Another thunderous boom tore through the air. Panicking, Susan realized she could not stay here any longer. The metallic smell of blood permeated the air in the room. She dashed out of the house, running along the winding path desperately.
She kept running manically as if a ghost was chasing her. She lost her shoes but continued sprinting barefoot on the stony path. Susan couldn't feel the pain piercing her feet, as she left a trail of blood on the path behind her.
She didn't know how long she had been running nor how far she had run. All she knew was that she was about to collapse.
Her long hair was splattered across her beautiful little face, which was now stained with blood, and her wet clothes clung to her as the rain lashed her body. At this moment, Susan looked like a corpse crawling out of the grave.
Suddenly, a luxurious black car came hurtling towards her. Susan couldn't open her eyes because of the dazzling headlights. Overcome by exhaustion, she fainted in front of the black car.
The car screeched to a halt and a middle-aged man in an elegant suit jumped out of the car. He rushed over to Susan and bent to check if she was breathing. Feeling her moist, hot breath, he breathed a sigh of relief. Turning back to the person in the car, he called, "Sir, she is still alive."
"Come here quickly and carry her into the car. Are you going to let her freeze to death in this heavy rain?" A young male voice came from the car.
"But..." The driver was about to protest, but was interrupted by the young man.
"Get her into the car! Don't make me angry!" warned the man again.
Holding Susan in his arms, the driver sighed helplessly as he walked towards the vehicle. "Why is such a little girl running on the road at night?"
"Help me. I don't want to die. I want to live..." Susan reached out a bloody hand and clutched the driver's clothes tightly.
This got the attention of the young man in the car. He stared at the petite figure and asked coldly, "Why should I save you?"
Susan struggled to hold on to the last bit of her strength. She looked into the young man's eyes and said bravely, "As long as I live, everything I have is yours."
"What's your name?"
"My name is Susan Leng. I'll be eight years old tomorrow."
The boy looked at her with a mix of interest and intrigue. Her face was dirty and he couldn't tell what was going on in her mind. But her amber eyes were pure and her will to survive was fierce.
"You are very beautiful and I like you very much," said the young man, leaning closer to Susan.
Pacified by his words, Susan gave in to the exhaustion and passed out. She knew that the boy would save her.
When she woke up, she found herself lying in a big, soft bed. An icy voice drew her attention. "You're finally awake."
Susan saw a young man sprawled out lazily on the sofa. He was incredibly handsome. She looked at him and asked, "Who are you? Why am I here?"
The boy looked at her in confusion. Realizing that she had lost her memory because of the trauma, an idea flashed in his mind. "Well, I am your fiance, Richie Ye," he said wickedly.
"Richie Ye? You are my fiance. Then who am I?" Susan asked, feeling disoriented.
"You are Susan Leng and you're eight years old. This is your home now and you should always by my side." The teenager's slender fingers covered her delicate, fair face.
