An Accidental Marriage

It was five in the evening and everyone started packing their things to leave the 20 - storey office building in the bustling street of Chicago downtown. The weekend mood can be sensed in the air and all were in a joyful mood with plans for movie night, dating, and shopping sort of things. Amidst the chit chat, there came a sharp voice.

"Vini, are you ready? Can we move?"

It was the voice of Daniel Wilson, 27 years old handsome Manager in a Multinational IT company. He has an attractive figure of 6 feet, sharp eyebrows, a broad chest, and a chiseled look, like the one on a cover page of a fashion magazine. No doubt, all the girls have an eye for him. But he won't even turn or talk towards the women who fall for him. It's not like that he has an aversion towards ladies but his nature is always like that. His Mom died when he was five and after that, his Dad Gary Wilson married Jane. She is not an evil Step-Mother, but Dan never received that motherly affection from her. Their relationship is neither close nor distant.

Daniel had spent most of his childhood in a boarding school, so he doesn't know the feeling of what it would be like if in love or being loved by someone. His Father Gary always has a warm feeling towards Daniel. Though they don't express each other, there is always an untold love. Gary always feels guilty for his Son's character, which he believes is the reason for his attitude as he didn't raise his son in a family atmosphere. Though he tried his best, Jane would always treat Daniel and her son Robert, who is 8 years younger in different ways. That was one of the reasons for Daniel's preference to attend the boarding school. Though Gary has equal feelings for both Daniel and Robert, Daniel has a special place in his heart.

All the women in his office are always eager to talk with him whenever they get a chance. But they are afraid of his cold looks. Daniel is a wise man with gentle gestures, but if somebody irritates him, he is no more a patient guy, and the opponent has to face his angry aura. That is why the women colleagues always maintain a distance with him, at least they can admire his looks. They are scared to miss his short conversations with them, which would be no more than 2 or 3 words.

They can hear his soothing voice only when he discusses the project. The only person with whom Daniel can speak without preparing his mind is Vinita Sekar, a 23-year-old budding Professional. She was working for the same MNC in India and shifted here to Chicago in a 2-year contract for a project for which she worked in India.

Vinita is the only child of her parents Sekar and Jancy. Mr.Sekar Chandran is an Ex-Military Officer. He lost one of his legs during a war in border protection. Though he receives a pension from the Government, he preferred to work with whatever jobs he can do. Until ten years, Vinita lived a stress-free life, but after Sekar's accident, she felt sorry for her Dad as he is working beyond his capacity and pamper her. He will fulfill her requirements before she could ask. Sekar has been always particular to the fact that their only daughter should not suffer. He had sent her to the best college despite his debts.

Now Vinita is in a mindset, that it is her turn to look after the family. But Sekar never gives any responsibilities to his daughter, and he is still working as a security agent and earning sufficient money to look after himself and his wife. Though he insisted Vini to save her earnings, she cleared all his debts. Sekar always requested Vini to have an early marriage. But she was stubborn at that time, and she took the opportunity to work in Chicago. Already 18 months have been completed, and now her stay in Chicago will be around 4 to 5 months.

Daniel is always friendly with Vini, maybe her nonchalant behavior is one of the reasons behind that. Though she is very beautiful, Dan never looked at her in that notion. While all other ladies are falling for Dan, Vini is on her own. That is the main reason that Daniel can move casually with Vini.

Both Vini and Daniel are staying in the same condo but on different floors in a community that is a few blocks away from their office. Though Daniel has a car, he still prefers to walk. But today he brought the car for Vini.

Her Apartment lease is ending this month. Vini's roommate is shifting to her cousin's place. She has to find a roommate to share the Apartment if she renews the lease, but it is unimaginable in two days. She never expected that her roommate would suddenly change her decision to leave and move to her cousin's place. As everything happened in a jiffy, now Vini has been left with only two days to move into a new apartment.

Understanding her situation, Dan offered to help her with a car ride for the house hunting and that's how they are here for the apartment hunting. Though Vini refused first, considering the tight schedule, She decided to accept Dan's help for visiting the rooms for which she had fixed the appointments with four persons already.

"Hi! "

" Dan, I am ready We can go, sorry for the trouble"

"No issues, it's just a simple help" he smiled.

Vini buckled the seat belt in the passenger seat. Although the locations are a little distant from her office, Vini thought of giving it a try. Dan just stayed in the guest parking. Vini alone went and visited the shared rooms. In the first Apartment, there was no washer or dryer and not even on the premises. One has to walk to the private Laundromat, which is 1 mile away, which is tiresome.

In another house 2 working ladies already shared the room. So Vini has to be the third person. The room had been already stuffed with no space for her bed. None of the rooms were up to her expectations. Back in the car, She was in deep thought with her eyebrows furrowed. Dan wanted to say something. When he's about to say something, Vini suddenly interrupted and said

"Dan, we can go back home"

As a man of few words, he didn't ask anything about her decision and he started driving back home.

When they reached the apartment garage, Dan mentioned, "Text me your schedule. I can drive you tomorrow. I am free only."

With an amiable smile, Vini said, "Sure"
