Chapter 1 The job interview

The She-devil

I sat with my hands on my lap, waiting patiently to be called in for my interview, candidates before me went in and came out of the office crying, I wondered what happens in there but in all getting this job is my number one priority, no matter what happens.

"Karol Fisher"

It was time for my interview, I slowly got up, walked past the rest of the candidates with a smiley face on.

They all gaze as I walked into the office of my employer, "Daren Drew" the son of Mr. and Mrs. Smith and Ravi Drew, his parents were the same people who not only duped my father, took over his business but also planned to kill my entire family, on the day of my parents anniversary.

Before my eyes were gunned down, I could still feel the tension I had when the masked man, pointed a gun at me, and without hesitation pulled the trigger right to my stomach, as I slowly depleted to the floor with my parents.

The whole news circulated the whole city, our bodies were rushed into the hospital but unfortunately, my parents died before they could reach, but luckily I was saved.

Aunt Rose Marie, a distant relative of my parents, heard the news and right there in the hospital decided to get my face changed into someone new, under the pretense of being her daughter, I was to take revenge for what happened to my parents, with lots of investigation we found of that Mr. Smith drew, the business partner to my dad, was responsible for their death. Now it looks like I need to play the game of infiltrating his family and getting my revenge for my parent's death, no matter what!".

"Have a sit miss Karol"

Daren offers a sit with a rather warm smile on his face, I sat down and quietly handed over my resume to him, he reads thoroughly and lifted his head the moment he glanced through the last word.

"Impressive resume, miss!"

He says to me once more, seeing the cute smile I had on, he pulls out his pen from his pouch, and without asking me any questions, he approved me for the job.

"I don't understand Mr drew"

I braided his gaze back to mine, waiting for his response to me.

"What don't you understand! You got the job?".

For a second time, he confirmed it to me, indeed even God wanted me to have this Job.

After a while! I stepped out of his office, the rest of the candidates thought my eyes would have been filled up with tears, got amazed when I step out smiling like I had just won a lottery, which by the way, I did, aunt Rose Marie will be so proud of me, thus after a long time of indexed planning it was finally the time to get back at them who took my happiness away from me.

The sterile white of the operating room blurred, then sharpened, as Skye Sterling felt the cold clawing its way up her body. The heart monitor flatlined, a steady, high-pitched whine announcing her end. Her uterus had been removed, a desperate attempt to stop the bleeding, but the blood wouldn't clot. It just kept flowing, warm and sticky, pooling beneath her. Through heavy eyes, she saw a trembling nurse holding a phone on speaker. "Mr. Kensington," the nurse's voice cracked, "your wife... she's critical." A pause, then a sweet, poisonous giggle. Seraphina Miller. "Liam is in the shower," Seraphina's voice purred. "Stop calling, Skye. It's pathetic. Faking a medical emergency on our anniversary? Even for you, that's low." Then, Liam's bored voice: "If she dies, call the funeral home. I have a meeting in the morning." Click. The line went dead. A second later, so did Skye. The darkness that followed was absolute, suffocating, a black ocean crushing her lungs. She screamed into the void, a silent, agonizing wail of regret for loving a man who saw her as a nuisance, for dying without ever truly living. Until she died, she didn't understand. Why was her life so tragically wasted? Why did her husband, the man she loved, abandon her so cruelly? The injustice of it all burned hotter than the fever in her body. Then, the air rushed back in. Skye gasped, her body convulsing violently on the mattress. Her eyes flew open, wide and terrified, staring blindly into the darkness. Her trembling hand reached for her phone. May 12th. Five years ago. She was back.
