CHAPTER 1.
Moonlight tales of the vampire king have been told by my family from generation to generation, my father was a hunter, he hunted down metaphysical beings and brought them to justice, my dad was the leader of the hunter group, and his rulership brought fear in the lives of metaphysical beings.
My dad's hate for them kept on growing, even after mom's death, he sort the lives of whosoever, that isn't human.
And his new marriage to my stepmom, dad never stopped, he continued, until one day, he went on a hunt in the forest and was murdered by the same thing he hated so much.
The vampire king.
A vicious, bloodthirsty vampire, that has lived his life's, feeding on human blood.
He killed my father and now, he's after the one thing that can be able to kill him.
That is me and the powers of the full blood moon.
STORY...........
I had just completed classes at college, I stopped a taxi and on my way back home, Alvin called, come to our secret spot, he says, and immediately disconnected the call.
I thought maybe he had a surprise for me because it's been two years since we started dating and a week from now is going to be our anniversary.
I guess Alvin would like to celebrate it on time this year.
I asked the cab driver to stop me at a huge gate in an abandoned street, he looked at me and I paid the cab fee.
I'm sure in his mind he might be thinking, what the hell is this girl doing here alone, on a lonely street, going into an abandoned mansion.
"Alvin"
I walked in and everywhere was covered in darkness.
It was so dark that I pulled out my phone and used the flashlight on it, I scanned through and my heart almost jump out of my chest the minute it landed on him.
"Hello, baby" He smooched my cheeks, "I have been waiting for you," he puts in.
I heaved a step away from him.
"What happened?" I raised a question.
He takes my hand and walked a little further, Alvin asked me to stay at a spot while he gets the light switched on.
I waited and when he returned, I felt something strange about his facial expression.
"Alvin is everything okay?"
I asked.
He nods a little, walked closer to me, and pulled out my hand to his chest.
"You do know that I love you right?" He smiles.
"Yes, but tell me, what's going on?"
I investigated.
I was pulled away by him, and he turns his back on me, concealing a huge truth.
Anytime Alvin acts like there's something stuck on his throat, it only means there's something he's either trying to tell you or wants to give you.
Regardless I think he has something to tell me.
"Alvin"
I pulled him back to my gaze, "tell me the truth," I said holding both his hands.
He looks at it and raised to speak.
"I am sorry Ava, but I don't think we can continue seeing each other,"
He tells slapping my hands away.
I trembled my head in doubt, did Alvin just break up with me, or have I started hearing things.
I interrogated him for a detailed explanation and he had my ears filled up with the crazy disparity between us.
Alvin says, we were not right for each other, he also said, he thought I was his mate, but I ended up being another mistake of his.
Like what in the odds, I've just been waiting two years of my life with a guy that never saw me as anything important.
I was star-struck by his words, he rides past and before leaving had me return the promise ring he gifted me on my birthday.
Alvin turns his back on me, just like a stranger would, and abandons me without taking a look back.
I'm going to let him go, I hurried after him but he already left in his car.
I sat on a boulder with my bag in the dirt, I still couldn't believe Alvin just abandoned me, after so many years of being together.
Is my life ever going to be the same, after all, he was my mate?
Can I get another chance?
Mom's call comes in after a while, I picked up and she instructed me to come back home since she had an evening shift at the hospital.
I got up and swiftly made my way out of the huge gate and far from the place I was just abandoned.
I walked on the streets with no one to look after me, it was so dark and quiet that I do not think cabs can be gotten there.
I crossed the streets without looking and an incoming vehicle almost knocked me unconscious.
Thankfully a hand dragged me on time and I fell my head on the chest of a man I had no clue of.
I looked at him and he pulls me back.
"Are you that blind, don't you look before walking?" He shouted to my face.
I stood there without altering a single word when all of a sudden I broke down in tears.
I cried bitterly and instead of him consoling me, he just left me there but gave me a gift to remember him by.
His handkerchief.
After a short time alone, I got up and managed to find my way home.
Mom was seated on the front porch when my cab stopped.
She rushed down wanting to shout, but seeing the look on my face, she asked if everything was okay.
I nodded and brushed past her without altering another word.
Mom couldn't make out time to come in and so left with the cab I came home with to work.
Meanwhile, I got into my room, pulled out my clothes, and walked into the bathroom.
Having a cold bath will do me good.
I went under the cold running water and while it watched my body clean, my heart also needed to be as well.
I got out of the shower and cleaned my body with a towel, and since my nightwear was lying on the bed I had to come to get it.
I went into my room naked.
I held up my nightwear and wore them, I packed my hair above my neck when the handkerchief that stranger gave to me fell from my bag.
Who could he be?.
Regardless of his help, he's really rude and arrogant.
Like who leaves a lady alone crying on a lonely street.
Well, only the devil does that, and I won't be surprised if he is the devil's advocate.
I picked up the handkerchief on the ground, I had two options, either throw it away inside the trashcan, or keep it, but oddly, I have the urge of keeping the stranger's handkerchief, deep down something told me, we might see again.
Weird.
