Alex: Have you ever found out your best friend kept a huge secret from you? If yes then I don't want to know what the huge secret is, because that won't be able to beat this my sweet best friend Nick who loves animals, flowers, broadway, and Taylor Swift is a monster-hunting killing machine. That's right my best friend who is a Swiftie kills vampires, evil witches, and shapeshifters when he's not with me. And how I found out about his second job besides working as a babysitter in our neighborhood will make you laugh, I was not laughing cause I didn't think it was funny. Nick: My best friend found out I'm a hunter and I found out he's the long-lost son to the king and queen of Lenfairia the enchanted kingdom. It would have been better if he knew he was a fairy all along but he didn't but I knew I was a hunter since freshman year and I kept it a secret from him now he's pissed. How do I get myself out of this now?

Sword & Crown Chapter 1 Prologue

Imagine you and your best friend at a party... No, imagine you and your best friend embark on a magical adventure. One believed in magic the other did not. Normally, best friends try to prove each other wrong by guessing when Taylor Swift's new album is about to drop or having a feeling the most popular girl in school is going to date a nerd or that DC is better than Marvel. This friendship is extraordinary. Their bond cannot be broken... Literally.

Some friendships weren't meant to last but this one could last for two hundred years, well that's if they're vampires.

Welcome to Lenfaria a magical place filled with supernatural creatures and magical kingdoms. You're free to go there as long as you don't say anything to your boring human friends. They'll never believe you anyway. But just note that once you get to Lenfaria do not trust a witch. Never do that, trusting a witch is like trusting Trump to protect LGBTQ kids from harm. No joy there is it?

A friend is someone you slay dragons with, someone who will stand by your side until the end.

All I'm saying is, keep your friends closer and make sure your enemies stay dead

I went to the City Clerk’s office for a routine copy of my marriage license to finalize a trust fund audit. I expected a simple piece of paper, but the clerk’s pitying look told me my entire life was a lie. "The license was never finalized, Ms. Oliver. In the eyes of the state, you are single." The three-hundred-guest wedding at the Plaza and the Vogue features meant nothing. My husband, Gray Cooley, had intentionally filed the documents with a "procedural defect" so he could discard me without a legal divorce. Moments later, an iCloud invite titled "Our Little Secret" popped up on my screen. It was a photo of my best friend, Brylee, holding a positive pregnancy test at our Hamptons estate. Gray’s text to her was the final blow: "Happy anniversary, babe. This baby is the best gift. Once the trust unlocks today, we’re done with the charade." I soon discovered they were even stealing my career, reassigning my architectural masterpiece to Brylee while preparing my eviction notice. Gray's mother called me a "barren mule" in a leaked recording, mocking the infertility I suffered after saving Gray’s life in a construction accident. I wasn't a wife; I was a three-year placeholder used to secure his inheritance. How could the man I bled for treat me like a disposable prop? How could my best friend carry his child while pretending to comfort me through my darkest moments? The betrayal burned until it turned into a cold, hard stone of fury. I didn't cry. Instead, I walked into the penthouse of the Barretts, the Cooleys' most powerful rivals. I signed a marriage contract with Kane Barrett, the man the tabloids called the "Beast of Wall Street." "I want a wedding," I told his father, my voice steady and lethal. "Bigger than the one I had with Gray." If they wanted me gone, they would have to watch me become the woman who owns their world.
