Elena Smith who has lived her life as an ordinary girl finds out that she's a powerful light fairy and the long-lost princess of Euroix, a magical European kingdom that's home to magical creatures and home to her parents who are now late. After being attacked by vampires and saved by her best friend she's determined to go to Euroix to explore her roots learn more about herself and find out who killed her parents. While she's there she's introduced to friends and enemies and she meets her other family members some of whom don't like her so much. She begins to receive threats from an unknown enemy, an enemy that stays in the school for magical creatures, Magix Academy. She, Alex, and her new friends and teachers are set to find out who is threatening the princess, and at the same time, Elena tries to find out who killed her parents. Elena soon learns that the world both Earth and Lenfairia are full of hidden secrets and a history that intertwines.
This is supposed to be the best night of Elena's life, a night she'll never forget. A night where she celebrates her best friend turning sixteen by drinking a lot of alcohol and dancing to the beat of the music. She had planned this night in her head the day before. This party was supposed to be pure fun but of course, it ends up turning into a shit show.
While everyone in Naomi Stewart's house is having fun Elena is outside weeping like she's never wept before. Her heart is broken into pieces, her life has come crashing right before her eyes. She holds herself as she stands in a beautiful black crop top with skinny black jeans and sneakers. She's in pain, emotional pain and this is worse than finding out that Cameron Boyce passed away.
A teenage boy comes rushing out of the house spilling his guts on the floor, his friend is there to help him. They ignore the girl crying in front of them.
Maybe she's pregnant and that's why she's crying. One of them thinks but that is not the case.
A handsome young man rushes out of the building and calls Elena's name. Elena recognizes his voice but she doesn't give him the satisfaction of looking his way. She walks away from the building, tears still bleeding from her ocean-blue eyes.
The handsome blond takes her by the hand willing her to turn around but Elena screams at him to leave her alone. The sound of rage erupts from her and the boy can feel that rage because Elena doesn't do rage so he's taken aback.
"Elena, please I hate that I hurt you," he says.
"Then why did you just break up with me?" she whines.
"Elena please we can still be friends." He reaches out for her but Elena moves backward so he doesn't touch her.
"No, I don't want to be friends with you just leave me alone. Go to hell." she throws a death glare his way and she walks away from him.
"At least let me give you a ride home!"
"Fuck you!" she screams disappearing into the night.
The sad sixteen-year-old girl walks all alone on the streets of Berkshire. She's done crying because the cool autumn breeze has whispered into her ear, they've calmed her and told her how much of a jerk her ex-boyfriend is. That's how connected to nature she is.
She's dated Nicholas Reed since year eight. They were like the power couple of Westfield. She, the popular it girl who loves fashion and knows how to style herself and he, the famous rugby player. They were unstoppable. A lot of people even thought they were going to get married to each other and produce beautiful babies who would a hundred per cent become Hollywood child stars.
As much as Elena loved Nick, she knew marriage between them wasn't going to happen, she knew she was never gonna get married to Nick but she did think they'd be together at least till they graduated secondary school or at least before she leaves this world.
Elena wanted to use her powers on him, blast him with her light or maybe even blind him but of course, she couldn't do that because she doesn't know how to control her powers yet and her mother warned her that if she used them it'll attract dark creatures that either want her power or want her dead.
No one, not even Nick or her three girlfriends Naomi, Priya and Kate knows that she's not human. Just her, her mom and the Walkers know what she is and it's for the best. The more people know about her secret the more trouble she's going to get into but that didn't stop her from thinking about destroying Nick right there and then.
How could he do this to her? After everything they've been through. She wants to cry again but she also doesn't want to. She hates crying over people, she hates crying period. She's emotional she knows that and she hates it. Why waste tears on people who don't deserve it? Why waste tears on someone as lame as Nicholas Reed?
But that's the thing, Nicholas Reed is worth crying over. He's tall, has hazel
brown eyes, and sandy blond hair and he's a bit muscular. He's the perfect boyfriend and Elena's the perfect girlfriend for him so what could be the issue? Could he have fallen in love with someone else? She's not buying the excuse that he wants to focus on rugby because that doesn't make sense.
She is a beautiful girl indeed. Everyone back at school knows this.
She's a golden blond beauty with ocean blue eyes that can distract you once you look at them, a cupid's boy lips, rosy cheeks and a snub nose and she knows how to dress she looks like a model in the eyes of everyone. She's admired by all; both men and women, but Nick was the lucky one who had her, that's until he lost her.
Elena wipes the tears off her face because she remembers that she is a princess of a magical land and she's the most powerful fairy to ever exist. She'll be going back to her land very soon and she's not going to be worrying about assholes like Nick again.
Elena was only twelve years old when she found out she's a fairy. She was in a lot of pain when she got back from school and she was a hundred per cent sure that she was having cramps. She sat on the toilet but something miraculous happened, tiny balls of light - six of them - appeared out of nowhere, floating in the air. She screamed and her adopted mother Laura Smith came running into the bathroom and then she saw it.
Her mother was shocked but not surprised, she knew this was going to happen but she didn't know it would be this soon.
She helped Elena to leave the bathroom and then explained to the panicked little girl what she had seen.
"The light came from you dear." Said Laura and Elena titled her head in confusion.
Laura had told her that Elena was the princess of a magical kingdom called Euroix on a planet called Lenfairia. Euroix is basically the magical version of Europe. Euroix is a continent with other Kingdoms but her parents ruled Central Euroix. Which is the Britain of their land.
After the birth of Elena, the creatures of the dark knew how powerful Elena was. So a wizard broke into the palace to steal her powers. Her parents tried to protect her but failed. That wizard had killed them both and Elena was next, but Elena's uncle was not about to let that happen. He barged into the room with reinforcements and was ready to destroy this wizard but the wizard not being strong enough to take them all escaped. Disappeared.
Conrad Argentine knew the implication of keeping Elena in Euroix so he decided to send Elena to earth with humans and when she's there it will be hard for witches or wizards to find her specifically the one that killed her parents. He knew that even though the wizard had escaped there was no denying that he would find her way back to finish what he started.
He had sent the Walkers, a family of Fae to protect Elena. Laura Smith Elena's biological mom's best friend volunteered to go to earth to raise her. So they went through the portal to the United Kingdom.
The Walkers. Mr. Patrick Walker and Claudia Walker had a son who they raised on earth as well and he and Elena are best of friends.
Laura had explained to her that she was not going to be on earth forever and that her destiny was in Euroix. Her power was only going to grow as she grew older and it would be difficult to hide her. She didn't know when but she knew that that day would come. She knew that one day she was going to leave this world. A part of her didn't want to leave because she has everything here. Her friends, her boyfriend, and most especially her boyfriend.
Now that her boyfriend has dumped her she's considering leaving right now. Packing her bags and leaving this place so she doesn't see Nick's face ever again. She doesn't know if she really means that or if it's the heartbreak that's talking.
She sits on a bench in a quiet neighbourhood. It's One in the morning and her mom would kill her if she found out this is the time she's coming home. She has to get up
from this bench. Even if her mom yells at her she's not going to be listening because her boyfriend has just broken her heart. The sadness in her won't make her process anything anyone says because she's going to be thinking about Nick inviting her into a room, shooing teenagers who were making out in that room just to tell her he's breaking up with her.
Nothing else matters to her anymore, her mom can do her worse.
"Tough night?" someone startles her she looks to her side to see a bunch of Gothic-looking people who are her age staring at her.
They're five in number, four boys and a petite girl. The girl's hair is a pixie cut, she has black lips and eyeshadow. Her dark clothes blend into the night. They're all dressed in black it's creepy. This isn't the first time Elena has seen Gothic people she's just never seen them at night. The five kids look like a bunch of Satanists who have just sacrificed someone to the devil and now she's next.
"Ye--yes, but I'll be fine." she picks up her bag to leave. This is all kinds of creepy and she's not about to stick around.
She begins to hear someone sucking their breath. She stops at such a strange sound and then turns around to see where it came from. It's the girl in the middle, it's the girl that scares Elena the most.
"Don't you guys just love the smell of fairy blood?"
What?
"What?" this is her queue to leave. This is her queue to run.
"I've never tasted fairy blood before. But I can't wait to try." the girl hisses revealing her true face. Her face is in a bat-like form and her teeth are razor sharp. Elena swallows because she knows what they are. Vampires. She makes a run for it.
Elena runs as fast as her legs can carry her, screaming at the top of her lungs for help. But there's barely anyone on the streets. Workers have closed up shop for the day and people are resting in their homes after a long day of work. There's nothing but silence right now the only things that she hears are the way her legs hit the ground as she runs and the sound of her voice.
Even if there are people, she's sure they aren't going to help her because the people chasing her aren't people at all. They're vampires and they will kill whoever gets in their way and then kill her.
Her best friend Alex Walker has told her what vampires look like. He has killed so many of them. Elena was disappointed when she learned that vampires are nothing like the hot ones she sees on TV. They're vicious monsters who kill, they don't fall in love with humans. The only thing they're in love with is blood. Not to mention how ugly they are.
The vampires she just met have long ears, their eyes are viciously red, their face is that of a bat and their teeth are frighteningly sharp.
While running she turns her back to see that they're not there. It's probably a trick, Alex says they're good tricksters and to never underestimate them. They're slowing down because they love that she's running. It gives them power.
She makes her way into an alleyway and she hides behind a large dumpster. The vampires have it in their heads that she's still running and they love that she's running so she gets the smart idea to hide, to stay still.
Bang!
She jumps when she hears a loud sound and she sees it's nothing just a tabby cat who's playing with another cat. They run away chasing each other, clueless about what's out there.
Elena's heart begins to beat as never before. She tries her best to stay quiet. Her right hand covers her mouth and she's as still as a statue. One sound will cause these creatures to appear and she knows how sharp their hearing is. She's thankful she doesn't have any cuts because Alex told her that they can track one down easily by smelling their blood. She's going to be okay. She thinks to herself.
She can't believe this is happening, this is supposed to be one of the best nights of her life. She's supposed to be having the time of her life with her girlfriends but instead, she got dumped and now she's hiding from vampires who have never drank fairy blood in their lives and they can't wait to taste it. This went from being the best night of her life to being the worst.
This is not how she's going to die. She's not going to be killed by vampires. No! That's a pathetic way to die. She believes in dying honorably, dying for what's right like protecting someone you love from harm. Not this.
Maybe this is her karma for laughing at the victims of vampires in horror movies.
She doesn't hear anything and she believes it's time for her to leave this alleyway but a part of her doesn't want to. She wants to stay here throughout the night. But what if she sleeps off and gets killed?
This was never in her bingo card.
She slowly rises to her feet and she's still behind the dumpster. She gasps when she sees a tall man with blood-red eyes smiling at her.
He licks his lips.
"There you are," he says in a Russian accent reaching out to her. Elena accepts her fate and she closes her eyes waiting for the creep to kill her. But then she hears a strange sound coming from him, a whimper. She opens her eyes and sees he's turning grey. Elena furrows her eyebrows at him, confused. She looks him up and down until she spots an arrow resting through his chest like it's supposed to be there. He grunts then falls to the ground turning to a pile of dust.
"Vincent!" the petite vampire girl cries. Elena gasps when she sees the other vampires have found her.
"Leave the girl alone." another voice says and Elena and the vampires look to see where that voice came from and she cannot believe her eyes.
It's her best friend Alexander Walker, her brother, her ally and confidant, her savior.
He's wearing a white shirt, a dark leather jacket, dark jeans and boots. He's holding two stakes in each hand and he stands firm not fearing anyone.
Alex is six foot tall, has black curly hair, honey brown eyes, full lips high cheekbones and a diamond face and he's in good shape for a sixteen-year-old boy.
The guy that's next to him catches Elena's eye. He's the one who shot the arrow. He holds the bow and arrow with such strength and agility he's not afraid to let go if they mess up.
This guy is in all back. A black shirt, black vest, black cargo pants and black boots. His hairstyle is a buzz cut and he's much more muscular than Alex is.
Who is that handsome stranger? Elena thinks to herself. But she doesn't have time to think about boys right now. She's about to witness a showdown.
"Or what Fae? What are you going to do?" The petite girl asks. Elena wants her to shut her mouth up. She wonders how someone so tiny has a sharp mouth and why she's the one speaking for the other tall male vampires. Elena remembers that she's a vampire. This girl might look like a teenager but she is indeed older and maybe stronger.
"What am I gonna do?" Alex chuckles. "You see this thing." he throws the wooden stake in the air and catches it. "I'm gonna use it on you until you turn to ashes. You don't want to end up like your friend over there do you?" he smiles at them gesturing to the space that the vampire left.
"No." the petite girl simply says, her expression sad and Elena lets out a sigh of relief. The girl looks at her vampire friends and a smile forms on her face. Why are they smiling what could they be saying to each other? Is it some mind thing that Elena doesn't know about? What did Alex leave out when talking about these creatures? Elena just wants to go home. She's tired and she doesn't have the strength for this. "But we'll take our chances."
The vampires throw themselves into the air turning into large beastly bats and screeching before Elena's eyes. Elena looks at the horrid-looking creatures flying in the air charging toward Alex and his friend. They're ready to attack them both.
Alex plunges a stake into one of their hearts and another vampire kicks him until he goes flying to the wall. Elena can feel the pain but she knows the pain won't be there for long because he's a Faerie.
Alex also told Elena about the difference between a fairy and a faerie. A fairy is what Elena is and they have magical powers. Faeries are strong creatures with good reflexes, flexible, and they're fast. They have to still train to know how to fight. This is why Alex left for Euroix to learn how to be a fighter, a knight.
Elena has schooled with Alex since she was five and his leaving in year nine was hard for her. But after he left she made new friends. She loves her girls but they will never be Alex. Alex is her best friend and those girls are just her friends, there's a difference.
Alex would come back sometimes during the summer and winter break and the both of them would spend the holiday together. Alex would hang out with her and the girls. Naomi had a crush on him for a long time because who wouldn't have a crush on Alexander Walker, the sassiest and most handsome man alive?
When Naomi found out Alex was gay she was devastated.
"Why are all the hot men gay?" she whined and her friends laughed at her.
Elena is a bit confused because last week she followed Mr Walker to the train station so a magical train would take Alex to Euroix. He had his bags packed and everything. He had left for the school year. But what is he doing here? Elena might be confused as to why he's here but she's grateful that he is if not she would have been toast.
The handsome guy shoots his arrows at the vampires so effortlessly. Like he has all the time in the world. Elena tries her best not to stare at his muscles but she doesn't stop. He catches her staring and he winks at her. Heat runs through her cheeks as she looks away. This is the first time she's blushing for a guy that's not Nick.
Fuck Nick.
The vampires are dead and Alex holds the petite girl to her neck and lifts her as if she's weightless. There's a little cut on his face. But it'll heal.
"I told you to back off and you didn't listen. It didn't have to be this way."
"Whatever. You're going to regret doing that. The vampires will ri--" Alex puts the stake through her heart shutting her up. Finally.
She turns to ashes and disappears.
Alex shakes her head and turns over to the other guy.
"You'd think living forever would make you talk less but not for these vampires I guess." the guy giggles.
"Alex!" Elena yells leaving the dumpster. It's safe to come out now.
"Elena are you okay!" they're both walking toward each other with smiles on their faces.
Elena is about to say yes but she spots three other vampires about to attack Alex's friend.
"Watch out!" She yells and the guys move to the side.
The whole place goes bright as if the sun has risen. But it's not the sun. It's Elena. Her eyes go a bright yellow and her golden blond hair glows. She shoots a large ball of light toward the three vampires. And since the sun kills vampires. Elena's power is lethal to them. They scream in pain before turning into ashes.
They're gone and the sunlight is gone the place is dark again. Alex scoffs with a smile on his face and his friend looks at Elena with his jaw on the floor.
"Elena that was - Elena?"
The princess has fainted.
