7 days with ugly duckling Chapter 1 BAD ENCOUNTER

There are people who will come into our lives who will bother and give us headache. But in time, the time will come when she will become a part of us. We don't know that the time will come when we will love her and appreciate her until we cannot forget her for the rest of our lives.

7:00 A.M. (Saturday)

"Good morning handsome." My simple greetings in myself. I was drunk and got hangover for the party last night and I felt dizzy, but it was not a reason for me to rise up in the morning. I quickly jump out from my bed and press the remote control of the television and then, I watched the everyday news, there was a fire in Novaliches. Likewise, I was bored, and I guess my brain are not prepared to comprehend the information. So I tried to make breakfast.

7:15 A.M.

I thought the alcohol drained my whole system, but I was wrong. My body quickly respond to what I will do. I prepared coffee, sunny side-up eggs, ham and cheese together with bread. It took some minutes before I finish my breakfast because I'm starved. Afterwards, I wash the dishes and headed to the bathroom to take a bath.

8:00 A.M.

I went outside. The sun shone higher in the sky and I felt my energy was revitalized from the hangover last night. It's an ordinary day. Life goes on, the engines roared, there are a lot of people in the park while the senior citizens chitchatting sat down in the benches, the children plays in the street. There is nothing unusual happen from this Saturday then all of a sudden...

9:00 A.M.

A beautiful woman hit me. I thought I'm going to fall into the ground, but I keep my balance or else we will be out of balance. But I guess it is a perfect timing for having a bad day because the heel of her shoes was broken. I thought I would introduce myself, but then I was turned off. What else would a gentleman do? I tried to help her to stand in her own and when I noticed that she can walk without my support, I left her.

9:15 A.M.

That's how life can bother you sometimes.

I continue to walk, and I encounter some other things.

A vendor got a lot of balloons. He passed me and afterwards the balloons flew away into the sky and the children ran and follow the balloons. Accidentally, they hit me without any care, I felt irritated and much worse of all, a woman ran into my direction and I guess she avoided someone who follow her.

10:00 A.M.

I was the lucky one.

Hmpt!

She avoids the children who throw her stones. And for all those circumstances, she almost hugs me. I thought I want to avoid her, but we both out-of-balance and fell into the ground. It makes me wonder if I am a heart rob because two women accidentally hit me this morning.

I was about to recognize the face of the woman so that I brush her hair but then suddenly, I was shocked.

How I wish I never do that.

I thought I saw Shriek.

Princess Fiona became Shriek.

She is ugly, definitely ugly. She used braces in her teeth and wore a large spec. Not only that, but she looks like a nerd, pointed nose and bulging eyes. For the first time in my life, I encountered this kind of human. Is it alien or whatsoever creature? I'm scared.

10:10 A.M.

I got up with that woman. Even if I blinked an washed, that's exactly what the woman looked like. She smiled at me and thanked me for saving with her. But it was all an accident. Isn't it?

I avoided. Then here I am, I can't really stare at her face for long. I feel like I've been on this bad trip all day. What the heck?

I just went home to the condo, very scary, it was as if I was watching a train to busan that passed 12:00 in the morning. I shook my head, maybe it's just a trip break this morning. Maybe tonight everything will be ok.

6:00 P.M.

Flashback.

Endrix, Raim. Charles and I went to gig. We saw Danita and Vanessa (my crush) there. My heart beat suddenly quickened when I saw her. I can't explain myself every time I feel her presence and I often rattled when I talk to her. I'm like that when I'm nervous every time I see Vanessa. But in spite of that, I also seemed to be floating in the clouds with great joy. But Charles kept pushing me away from her.

"Just be here. Don't court with that woman." Charles said.

"Wait! Why pare? Isn't she ok? " I was confused by what my friend told me.

"Oh enough!" Charles said.

He revealed that she is beautiful, but she only likes me because of money. Maybe not, their family is rich. But he just doesn't want Vanessa for me.

10:00 P.M.

I went home to the condo, my friends took me. We were pretty drunk in the tower, we drank. My eyes rotate.

" Lance, we're better to be off. Take care of yourself. Goodnight!" Endrix said.

I was lightheaded, and I am no longer in a condition to even understand what they are saying.

My friends locked the door and left me alone.

When I fell into bed. Blackout! Goodnight! ZZZ.

7:00 A.M. (Saturday)

Good morning Handsome.

A nice greeting to myself. I even had a hangover at our party last night.

I'm still a little dizzy, but that's not an excuse for me to wake up and get out of bed. So I quickly got out of bed. I immediately turned on the t.v. and startled with daily news. Hay! There was a fire in Novaliches. I switched the channel as if my brain was still not in the mood for processing. I can now prepare breakfast.

7:15 A.M.

My body reacts quickly. I thought that alcohol had engulfed my entire body system. Not really. I move faster when I'm hungry (hehe). I was able to prepare coffee, sunny side-up and buns. Furthermore, I also eat for a few hours (to make sure I'm really full all day). After all, I put away all the dishes and went straight to the bathroom to take a shower,

8:00 A.M.

I'm out. Fortunately, the sun has shone on me, no matter how much my strength returns, and I was able to move on from my hangover last night. It's an ordinary day. Life goes on, there are cars, there are people in the park. Old people chatting on benches, children playing in the street. There seems to be nothing strange this Saturday. So I just took a walk until all of a sudden......

I woke up in a blindingly white hotel penthouse with a throbbing headache and the taste of betrayal in my mouth. The last thing I remembered was my stepsister, Cathie, handing me a flute of champagne at the charity gala with a smile that didn't reach her eyes. Now, a tall, dangerously handsome man walked out of the bathroom with a towel around his hips. On the nightstand sat a stack of hundred-dollar bills. My stepmother had finally done it—she drugged me and staged a scandal with a hired escort to destroy my reputation and my future. "Aisha! Is it true you spent the night with a gigolo?" The shouts of a dozen reporters echoed through the heavy oak door as camera flashes exploded through the peephole. My phone lit up with messages showing my bank accounts were already frozen. My father was invoking the 'morality clause' in my mother’s trust fund, and my fiancé had already released a statement dumping me to marry my stepsister instead. I was trapped, penniless, and being hunted by the press for a scandal I hadn't even participated in. My own family had sold me out for a payday, and the man standing in front of me was the only witness who could prove I was innocent—or finish me off for good. I didn't have time to cry. According to the fine print of the trust, I had thirty days to prove my "rehabilitation" through a legal marriage or I would lose everything. I tracked the man down to a coffee shop the next morning, watching him take a thick envelope of cash from a wealthy older woman. I sat across from him and slid a napkin with a $50,000 figure written on it. "I need a husband. Legal, paper-signed, and convincing." He looked at the number, then at me, a slow, crooked smile spreading across his face. I thought I was hiring a desperate gigolo to save my inheritance. I had no idea I was actually proposing to Dominic Fields, the reclusive billionaire shark who was currently planning a hostile takeover of my father’s entire empire.

I stood at my mother’s open grave in the freezing rain, my heels sinking into the mud. The space beside me was empty. My husband, Hilliard Holloway, had promised to cherish me in bad times, but apparently, burying my mother didn't fit into his busy schedule. While the priest’s voice droned on, a news alert lit up my phone. It was a livestream of the Metropolitan Charity Gala. There was Hilliard, looking impeccable in a custom tuxedo, with his ex-girlfriend Charla English draped over his arm. The headline read: "Holloway & English: A Power Couple Reunited?" When he finally returned to our penthouse at 2 AM, he didn't come alone—he brought Charla with him. He claimed she’d had a "medical emergency" at the gala and couldn't be left alone. I found a Tiffany diamond necklace on our coffee table meant for her birthday, and a smudge of her signature red lipstick on his collar. When I confronted him, he simply told me to stop being "hysterical" and "acting like a child." He had no idea I was seven months pregnant with his child. He thought so little of my grief that he didn't even bother to craft a convincing lie, laughing with his mistress in our home while I sat in the dark with a shattered heart and a secret life growing inside me. "He doesn't deserve us," I whispered to the darkness. I didn't scream or beg. I simply left a folder on his desk containing signed divorce papers and a forged medical report for a terminated pregnancy. I disappeared into the night, letting him believe he had successfully killed his own legacy through his neglect. Five years later, Hilliard walked into "The Vault," the city's most exclusive underground auction, looking for a broker to manage his estate. He didn't recognize me behind my Venetian mask, but he couldn't ignore the neon pink graffiti on his armored Maybach that read "DEADBEAT." He had no clue that the three brilliant triplets currently hacking his security system were the very children he thought had been erased years ago. This time, I wasn't just a wife in the way; I was the one holding all the cards.

I was four months pregnant, weighing over two hundred pounds, and my heart was failing from experimental treatments forced on me as a child. My doctor looked at me with clinical detachment and told me I was in a death sentence: if I kept the baby, I would die, and if I tried to remove it, I would die. Desperate for a lifeline, I called my father, Francis Acosta, to tell him I was sick and pregnant. I expected a father's love, but all I got was a cold, sharp blade of a voice. "Then do it quietly," he said. "Don't embarrass Candi. Her debutante ball is coming up." He didn't just reject me; he erased me. My trust fund was frozen, and I was told I was no longer an Acosta. My fiancé, Auston, had already discarded me, calling me a "bloated whale" while he looked for a thinner, wealthier replacement. I left New York on a Greyhound bus, weeping into a bag of chips, a broken woman the world considered a mistake. I couldn't understand how my own father could tell me to die "quietly" just to save face for a party. I didn't know why I had been a lab rat for my family’s pharmaceutical ambitions, or how they could sleep at night while I was left to rot in the gray drizzle of the city. Five years later, the doors of JFK International Airport slid open. I stepped onto the marble floor in red-soled stilettos, my body lean, lethal, and carved from years of blood and sweat. I wasn't the "whale" anymore; I was a ghost coming back to haunt them. With my daughter by my side and a medical reputation that terrified the global elite, I was ready to dismantle the Acosta empire piece by piece. "Tell Francis to wash his neck," I whispered to the skyline. "I'm home."
