Chapter 1 Prologue

She stepped her right foot on the ground as soon as her driver opened the door.

She picked her bag and walked out of the car fully. Few workers were standing in front of her company, waiting to receive her.

She took long but slow elegant strides towards them and they bowed greeting her in unison.

"Good morning miss Risa."

She mentally smiled, enjoying what she was seeing. She loved seeing people scurry around, squirm in fear, and almost bow to her feet when they see her.

She decided not to answer them and walked past them into the firm.

The air in the firm tensed up as soon as she stepped her foot into the reception. Workers were scurrying to their various posts while some were trying to arrange their dress properly.

She was Risa Johnson, the CEO of Johnson's corporation. One of the youngest CEO in America, she is a no-nonsense person, even men fear her.

"Come in." She permitted the person who was knocking in while typing away on her computer.

"Good morning ma." Celine my secretary/personal assistant greeted me.

I nodded my head in reply, "start!" I ordered.

She cleared her throat before starting, "you have a meeting with Er-"

"Cancel it!" She interrupted her.

"Pardon?" Celine probed, knowing that the meeting with the Eric's was very important and would contribute a lot to the company.

"Are you deaf!? I said you should cancel it!"

"Yes ma'am." She flinched and started noting down somethings on her notepad.

"You also have a meeting with Nelson corp."

"Cancel it." She ordered, not looking up from the computer. She wasn't interested in any damn meeting today, She just wanted to have little fun.

"Should I just cancel all the meetings you have today?" She asked and she couldn't help but scoff.

Such a robotic dummy. "Robot, didn't you know that you should have done that!?"

"I-I'm sorry ma." She curtsied.

"Better," Risa muttered with a wave of dismissal.

"But ma'am, I think there is one that I can't cancel." She uttered, making her raise her head up from the computer for the first time and giving her an intimidating look. She almost chuckled and scoffed at the same time, seeing a scared look on her face.

Tch, so chicken-hearted. She hates chickens. She loved eating them though.

"Your mom." She let out and Risa couldn't help but groan out almost loudly.

Yeah, she was her mother but that woman was always on her neck!!

Being second best is practically in my DNA. My sister got the love, the attention, the spotlight. And now, even her damn fiancé. Technically, Rhys Granger was my fiancé now-billionaire, devastatingly hot, and a walking Wall Street wet dream. My parents shoved me into the engagement after Catherine disappeared, and honestly? I didn't mind. I'd crushed on Rhys for years. This was my chance, right? My turn to be the chosen one? Wrong. One night, he slapped me. Over a mug. A stupid, chipped, ugly mug my sister gave him years ago. That's when it hit me-he didn't love me. He didn't even see me. I was just a warm-bodied placeholder for the woman he actually wanted. And apparently, I wasn't even worth as much as a glorified coffee cup. So I slapped him right back, dumped his ass, and prepared for disaster-my parents losing their minds, Rhys throwing a billionaire tantrum, his terrifying family plotting my untimely demise. Obviously, I needed alcohol. A lot of alcohol. Enter him. Tall, dangerous, unfairly hot. The kind of man who makes you want to sin just by existing. I'd met him only once before, and that night, he just happened to be at the same bar as my drunk, self-pitying self. So I did the only logical thing: I dragged him into a hotel room and ripped off his clothes. It was reckless. It was stupid. It was completely ill-advised. But it was also: Best. Sex. Of. My. Life. And, as it turned out, the best decision I'd ever made. Because my one-night stand isn't just some random guy. He's richer than Rhys, more powerful than my entire family, and definitely more dangerous than I should be playing with. And now, he's not letting me go.

I was finally brought back to the billionaire Vance estate after years in the grimy foster system, but the luxury Lincoln felt more like a funeral procession. My biological family didn't welcome me with open arms; they looked at me like a stain on a silk shirt. They thought I was a "defective" mute with cognitive delays, a spare part to be traded away. Within hours of my arrival, my father decided to sell me to Julian Thorne, a bitter, paralyzed heir, just to secure a corporate merger. My sister Tiffany treated me like trash, whispering for me to "go back to the gutter" before pouring red wine over my dress in front of Manhattan's elite. When a drunk cousin tried to lay hands on me at the engagement gala, my grandmother didn't protect me-she raised her silver-topped cane to strike my face for "embarrassing the family." They called me a sacrificial lamb, laughing as they signed the prenuptial agreement that stripped me of my freedom. They had no idea I was E-11, the underground hacker-artist the world was obsessed with, or that I had already breached their private servers. I found the hidden medical records-blood types A, A, and B-a biological impossibility that proved my "parents" were harboring a scandal that could ruin them. Why bring me back just to discard me again? And why was Julian Thorne, the man supposedly bound to a wheelchair, secretly running miles at dawn on his private estate? Standing in the middle of the ballroom, I didn't plead for mercy. I used a text-to-speech app to broadcast a cold, synthetic threat: "I have the records, Richard. Do you want me to explain genetics to the press, or should we leave quietly?" With the "paralyzed" billionaire as my unexpected accomplice, I walked out of the Vance house and into a much more dangerous game.
