Jenna is running with her kids. She needs a new start. Boy does she find it and some stuff about her past she never even knew!
I will not stand for this any longer! Jenna Cowen said to her husband Nick as she discovered yet another of his indiscretions laying on her bed. What are you going to do? Nick asked. What exactly are you going to do? What can you do?
I am leaving right now! She said as she turned to her closet and grabbed a suitcase and began to fill it. She moved around the house with a quickness grabbing things from her children's bedrooms. Her thirteen year old son Jared and her four year old daughter Jocelynne were at school but she packed what they might need. She had been saving whatever she could in these past months. From her own job and what she could get away with from their joint account. She had opened her own account at a different bank anything to help them get away from him.
Where will you go? Nick asked. Well I guess that is no longer your business is it?she replied. Wrong move on her part since Nick was a hitter at the best of times. She knew this and goaded him anyway. She was ready for him this time. This time she was faster than him.
When they started out she was so in love with him. He was so sweet and kind and he treated her so well. They had dated for a long time when he asked her to marry him and she of course said yes.
For the first part of the marriage it was heaven. But only a short time after heaven it was hell. He became distant and angry. He would yell and scream and call her names and she still loved him. Then after their son was born came the hitting. And because of his earlier work with the words she no confidence no self worth. She stayed because she believed all he said and that she deserved it.
After their daughter was born she found herself and her back bone. She could take the beatings. But as of late he started looking towards the children with his anger that she could not take. So she started saving money. Slowly she was taking clothes and things to a storage unit that she paid for from her secret account. She wanted to make sure they would have what they needed when they left
She got to the front door and he grabbed her by her hair and yanked she screamed and turned pulling up the suitcase and hit him. Stunned he released her and stumbled backwards. Jenna got the door open and filed she picked the kids up from school and went to the courthouse and filed for divorce.
They stayed at a hotel that night. They stayed in Seattle long enough for the divorce to be final. Nick did not fight Jenna for custody of the children. Jenna was not surprised at all.
Jenna had been working as a nurse at a hospital but she wanted a change of pace and scenery. She found a job at a healthcare facility in Portree a small town on the Isle of Skye in Scotland. Jenna told the children that they were going on a great adventure.
They found a small cottage right outside of town. They waited to move until school was out. So they had all summer to acclimate to the new place. Maybe make friends before school started. Jenna was so nervous on her first day as a care assistant. She started thinking about all the things that Nick would say to her and she began to panic. Then she met Sue Mc Greggor another care assistant. Sue was so sweet and welcoming that Jenna forgot all about the things Nick said and about being nervous. Over the summer the kids made friends and Jared got a girlfriend Sioban a pretty little red headed girl.
They were happy, Sue came to visit Jenna often they became the best of friends. In truth Sue was the best friend Jenna had ever had. Even though they were friends Jenna still had not confided in Sue about how they came to be in their small village. Sue was worried about Jenna. She knew something was wrong just not what.
Sue tried to broach the subject but Jenna always quickly stopped any kind of conversation about it. Clearly Jenna is uncomfortable talking about it and that worried Sue. Sue wondered how she could be and effective friend when Jenna would not confided in her. Jenna had been happy happier than she had been in years.
