Opal Moon Chapter 1 -The Beginning-

-Sienna-

Out on my afternoon jog about halfway threw I start to feel a weird sense of foreboding. The air feels harsh and the woods seem abnormally quiet. Trying to shake the feeling I think of my uncle tonight is his night to make dinner, so it's going to be good I can already taste the delightful potatoes he makes for me every week. Just about 1 week and I'll be eighteen. My fist shift will happen then and my wolf is already preparing me for it. My wolfs name is Opal we have been together since I was sixteen, all wolves meet at sixteen then have there first shift at 18, When you get your wolf you also get the chance to find your mate.

A mate is like your soul mate you are made for each other and will protect each other and love each other unconditionally. At least that is what uncle Micheal says, he has a mate her name is Ruth. She is a witch not a wolf and has worked for the witch counsel all my life, so we only ever see her every two or three weeks. She stays with us for about a week maybe longer if she's lucky the witch counsel is extremely busy. Not only that, but she's great the best aunt you could ask for she always makes me feel good from just her touch you could say she's like my mom.

Breaking from my thoughts I'm turning the last bend back to our cabin when I smell something off. Coming from the direction of the cabin I can smell at least four unidentified wolves they aren't Rouge, but I've never smelt their scent before. I slow down and press myself to the nearest tree moving swiftly I go to the next getting closer and closer tell I can hear what's happening inside my home.

"Where is he Micheal we know you have to be in touch or why would you make it so hard to find you." I hear a voice say. At the sound of it Opal starts pacing in the back of my mind.

"I haven't seen him in years, your not gonna find him here." I can hear my uncle Micheal say.

A scream rips out into the air sending chills up my arms as I can tell it belongs to my uncle. I breathe in calming myself as I get my breathing under control, I look around one man is in front of the cabin another is behind the cabin my senses tell me the last two scents are coming from inside. Uncle Micheal always said if we are in danger do not show your enemies your full strength. I need to get uncle Micheal out, but I also need to be careful with how I do it to not reveal myself. Looking down I find just what I'm looking for a large rock I grab it and toss it just a little ways in front of me rustling a bush. Lowering myself to the ground I watch as the big man from the front of the house moves closer to investigate. When he's close enough I jump up and crash my arm hard into the back of his neck. He grunts and starts leaning forward, I catch him and slightly struggle to lay him down quietly. Checking to see if anyone heard the disturbance. All clear. I move toward porch.

"Why are you making this hard Micheal just tell me what I want to know, and I'll leave you be." The same voice as before says.

I peek threw the window seeing a man standing in front of my uncle who is strapped to a chair blood running down his face. He's covered in bruises a long cut made from his ear down to his chin is bleeding. The man in front of him has a silver dagger in hand, there is another man standing by the back door. A laugh echos threw the house, it's my uncle.

"Yeah sure that's how it's going to be I'll just tell you what you want to know and then you'll leave me be. Like I'd believe that." My uncle says spitting blood onto the floor.

"Well I guess we will have to just keep at this." Says the man in front of him. Taking the dagger and dragging it across the other side of his face. The anger in me boils, and I lose myself pushing the door open I charge at the man. He turned to see what the intrusion was looking me strait in the face. Opal says "mate " in my mind making me falter. It was a big mistake because that man, my mate stabbed me in the gut with his dagger. I slump on the floor.

"Shit." Says my mate leaning down and pulling the dagger from my body.

"Sienna." Says my uncle.

"My daughter look what you've done to my daughter." He says.

Looking at him, he gives me a knowing look telling me not to say anything. My hand is on my stomach and the blood feels warm on my hands. I pull myself up to a sitting position, never moving my hands from the opening. Waiting for my body to heal, I look for an opening to attack.

"Your daughter huh" says my mate looking at me his eyes have pain and disdain in them.

"Welcome to the party dear I was just trying to get some information from your father here, and he was not being very cooperative with me." He says with a chuckle.

"But I'm thinking if I turn my blade to you, he may be more reciprocating." He says looking at me with the dagger twirling in his hand. Opal whines in the back of my mind.

"No don't hurt her again I'll tell you whatever you want to know." My uncle says pleading with his eyes at the man.

The bleeding has stopped, but the wound hasn't healed probably because its from a silver dagger.

" Good now Micheal tell me where your brother is." My mate says stepping back toward my uncle.

"The last time we spoke he said he would be coming back here in a few weeks, it's my daughter's birthday, and he wants to be here." Uncle Micheal says.

It's a lie father isn't coming back soon we are to meet him on my birthday. It's a half-truth so I can hear the even beat of his heart letting it feel like the truth.

"Ah finally some answers." Says my mate "well that's all I needed." He says motioning his head to the man at the back.

Ice runs threw my veins as he pulls out a syringe passing it to my mate. He then turns to me and jabs it into my arm. The world goes wobbly and my vision blurs a little. He then takes the dagger and slices my uncles throat. Pain wells in my chest as darkness seeps into my mind no longer able to fight I drift off.

I was once the heiress to the Solomon empire, but after it crumbled, I became the "charity case" ward of the wealthy Hyde family. For years, I lived in their shadows, clinging to the promise that Anson Hyde would always be my protector. That promise shattered when Anson walked into the ballroom with Claudine Chapman on his arm. Claudine was the girl who had spent years making my life a living hell, and now Anson was announcing their engagement to the world. The humiliation was instant. Guests sneered at my cheap dress, and a waiter intentionally sloshed champagne over me, knowing I was a nobody. Anson didn't even look my way; he was too busy whispering possessively to his new fiancée. I was a ghost in my own home, watching my protector celebrate with my tormentor. The betrayal burned. I realized I wasn't a ward; I was a pawn Anson had kept on a shelf until he found a better trade. I had no money, no allies, and a legal trust fund that Anson controlled with a flick of his wrist. Fleeing to the library, I stumbled into Dallas Koch—a titan of industry and my best friend’s father. He was a wall of cold, absolute power that even the Hydes feared. "Marry me," I blurted out, desperate to find a shield Anson couldn't climb. Dallas didn't laugh. He pulled out a marriage agreement and a heavy fountain pen. "Sign," he commanded, his voice a low rumble. "But if you walk out that door with me, you never go back." I signed my name, trading my life for the only man dangerous enough to keep me safe.

I lived as the "scarred ghost" of the Stephens penthouse, a wife kept in the shadows because my facial burns offended my billionaire husband’s aesthetic. For years, I endured Kason’s coldness and my family's abuse, a submissive puppet who believed she had nowhere else to go. The end came with a blue folder tossed onto my silk sheets. Kason’s mistress was back, and he wanted me out by sunset, offering a five-million-dollar "silence fee" to go hide my face in the countryside. The betrayal cut deep when I discovered my father had already traded my divorce for a corporate bailout. My step-sister mocked my "trashy" appearance at a high-end boutique, while the sales staff treated me like a common thief. At home, my father threatened to cut off my mother's life-saving medicine unless I crawled back to Kason to beg for a better deal. I was the girl who took the blame for a fire she didn't start, the wife who worshipped a man who never looked her in the eye, and the daughter used as a human bargaining chip. I was supposed to be broken, penniless, and desperate. But the woman who stood up wasn't the weak Elease Finch anymore; she was Phoenix, a tactical predator with a $500 million secret. I signed the divorce papers without a single tear, walked past my stunned husband, and wiped the Finch family's bank accounts clean with a few taps on my phone. "Your money is dirty," I told Kason with a cold smile. "I prefer clean hands." The cage is open, the hunt has begun, and I’m starting with the people who thought a scar made me weak.

I woke up in a blindingly white hotel penthouse with a throbbing headache and the taste of betrayal in my mouth. The last thing I remembered was my stepsister, Cathie, handing me a flute of champagne at the charity gala with a smile that didn't reach her eyes. Now, a tall, dangerously handsome man walked out of the bathroom with a towel around his hips. On the nightstand sat a stack of hundred-dollar bills. My stepmother had finally done it—she drugged me and staged a scandal with a hired escort to destroy my reputation and my future. "Aisha! Is it true you spent the night with a gigolo?" The shouts of a dozen reporters echoed through the heavy oak door as camera flashes exploded through the peephole. My phone lit up with messages showing my bank accounts were already frozen. My father was invoking the 'morality clause' in my mother’s trust fund, and my fiancé had already released a statement dumping me to marry my stepsister instead. I was trapped, penniless, and being hunted by the press for a scandal I hadn't even participated in. My own family had sold me out for a payday, and the man standing in front of me was the only witness who could prove I was innocent—or finish me off for good. I didn't have time to cry. According to the fine print of the trust, I had thirty days to prove my "rehabilitation" through a legal marriage or I would lose everything. I tracked the man down to a coffee shop the next morning, watching him take a thick envelope of cash from a wealthy older woman. I sat across from him and slid a napkin with a $50,000 figure written on it. "I need a husband. Legal, paper-signed, and convincing." He looked at the number, then at me, a slow, crooked smile spreading across his face. I thought I was hiring a desperate gigolo to save my inheritance. I had no idea I was actually proposing to Dominic Fields, the reclusive billionaire shark who was currently planning a hostile takeover of my father’s entire empire.
