Chapter 1 Betrayed
Angry Flora sped like crazy on the busy road. Fortunately, there were no traffic police at this time, or she would have been immediately arrested. In the end, what happened to make someone who was always rational and calm, like Flora Scarlet explode like that?
Just twenty-four hours ago, she was still the president of the Scarlet fashion company. Still, she was suddenly taken away by the police on charges of tax evasion and illegal money laundering. Flora didn't understand why. She had always been a good citizen, an honest business person.
It was not until Flora was bailed out by Jacob that she learned some information from him. Immediately after Flora was arrested, her fiancé - Richard, held a shareholder meeting. And somehow, after just two hours of discussion, Richard succeeded in becoming the company's new president, and Flora was fired.
After learning that information from Jacob, Flora immediately ran back to the company, but no one was there, and she was denied entry to the company by security.
Flora tried to contact Richard, but her number was blocked by him. Finally, thanks to Jacob's extensive connections, she learned that Richard was at an Iris bar. That's why she was driving crazy on the road right now.
Just twenty minutes later, Flora was at the bar. As soon as she got out of the car, a young green-haired young man who looked young ran over to talk to her. "Are you Flora Scarlet? Follow me, Mr. Smith is waiting for you."
Flora knows that Mr. Smith in his mouth is Richard Smith. She doubted in her heart but still followed the blue-haired young man. Arriving in front of a VIP room on the third floor, he stopped and said. "Sir Smith is inside. Come in."
Flora didn't hesitate, and she immediately opened the door with anger. There were many people in the room, and Flora could tell that some of them were friends of Richard's. They were excitedly dancing to the music without even noticing her presence.
She looked around for Richard's figure. She froze when she saw the scene before her eyes. Lynne - Flora's close friend since childhood, is giving Richard a passionate kiss. The eyes of the two of them had been on Flora ever since she entered, but they still didn't stop their shameful actions and continued to get more passionate.
"You two stop now." Flora was so angry that she trembled and shouted. My best friend and her fiancé together betrayed her; how painful that feeling is. If Flora weren't a rational person who knew how to control her emotions, she would have jumped up and fought by now.
Richard indifferently slowly let go of Lynne. He did not forget to bite Lynne's lips lightly to tease her. Then he motioned for everyone to turn off the music and be quiet. Only now did people notice Flora.
"Flora, my dear friend, have you come? I'm sorry I didn't notice you." Lynne gleefully mocked Flora.
"Do you even know that we are best friends? Why did you two betray me?" Flora said in a choked voice. She wanted to cry, but seeing the gloating faces in this room made her even more resilient to swallow her tears.
"Richard, tell me, how is this?" Flora looked at Richard questioningly.
Richard smiled scornfully. "Are you stupid or pretending to be stupid, that even now you still need to ask me those stupid questions?" Pausing for a moment, Richard continued speaking in a smug voice. "You think I love you? I only approached you because of the legacy your father left you. It was hard for me to pretend to be in love with you for more than five years, but fortunately, now I have achieved what I wanted, freed from a fool like you."
Flora couldn't believe what she heard, her hand clenched, and her fingernails pricked her palm until it bled, but she didn't feel any pain because right now, the pain of her broken heart had caused her to bleed. She lost her sense of physical pain.
Richard had no sympathy for how his words would hurt Flora. He was amused by her distressed expression and continued to speak maliciously. "You are a person who is both bland and old-fashioned, focusing all day on work and following the idea that you cannot have sex before marriage. Do you think I can handle it? I am also a normal man, I have my physiological needs. You are not like Lynne, she's so pleasing to me, we've been doing it behind your back for the past five years."
"Bastard!" Flora gritted her teeth and said. If she had a knife right now, she would stab that despicable couple.
