Chapter 3 No.3

Alexander jolted awake, his heart rate skyrocketing and cold sweat beaded at his forehead. He took in a deep breath, coming to his senses and registering his surroundings, reassuring himself that he wasn't in Iraq leading a raid but back in his home country.

This wasn't the first time he had woken up to a nightmare but it didn't mean he was used to it, each time it was just as startling and difficult as the last.

He looked at the digital clock placed at the bedside table, it read 6 30 AM so he threw off the covers and swung his legs off the bed, standing and heading to the bathroom for a shower. It wasn't like he would've gotten much sleep anyways.

Alexander was given the pool house in the Gambino estate because it was fairly close to the main house, in fact, Isla's bedroom window could be seen from the pool house so in case of emergency he wouldn't have to peruse around the whole estate in order to get to the main house.

After a good shower he got dressed in one of his expensive Armani suits with polished boots before heading out the room, grabbing an apple for breakfast and making his way towards the main house.

It was 7 30 by the time he was in front of the main house. The guards stationed at the entrance let him in and he stepped inside.

It was grande, no surprise there.

A maid he recognized from before but didn't care enough to remember her name made her way to him.

"You're early, she wakes up at 8, she'll come out of the room by 8 30 for breakfast" she told him and he nodded.

"I'll wait in front of her room then, guide me there" he demanded, voice cold.

"You sure cause you can wait here" she said with a nervous look on her face, to her he was a scary man.

"It's my responsibility to keep her safe once she steps out of her room, I don't want to risk it" he said stoically getting impatient.

The maid talked too much.

Taking the hint the maid, Molly, whose name he didn't remember guided him to Isla's room door.

It was up the grand staircase and to the right.

Alexander took his position in the hallway as the maid left him alone. He waited impatiently for Isla to come out of the room though none of that impatience was shown on his poker face.

Currently, Alexander was stationed at the kitchen door of the main house.

Apparently Isla had kicked out the chef from the kitchen for the time being cause she wanted to bake a cake, even though the chef had insisted to make one for her.

Alexander watched her amusedly though his face was masking his amusement as she sauntered around the kitchen with the music playing in the background on her pink Bluetooth speaker, not too loud but occasionally she would absentmindedly start swaying her hips which was so sultry unbeknownst to her. She would also time to time look at him and pass him a smile.

His face was stoic, his heart a whole other story.

He stood there for hours as she finally brought the cake out of the oven and started lathering it with cream and decorating it. Never once did he get bored and now a mouthwatering smell of home baked goods filled the air.

She grinned looking at her handy work. She baked a red velvet cake and the outcome was so satisfying. One day, if hat day comes, she wanted to open a bakery of her own, she certainly had the talent for it.

"Looks pretty good doesn't its Alex?" She asked, her blue eyes gleaming as she looked at him.

"Yes ma'am" he answered almost letting a smile slip but concealed himself.

She got a plate and cut a slice. She was so excited to make Alexander taste her baking.

She picked up the plate and the spoon and stood before him at the door. Excitedly she sliced note onto the spoon and held it to his face, she had to extend her hand a little upwards cause he was a good foot taller than her almost.

Alexander's eyes widened slightly as he saw the extended spoon in front of him. She wanted him to eat at his job and not only that but by her hand, one looks at her and he knew her actions were innocent and oblivious.

"I cannot ma'am, I am on duty" he explained looking down at her.

"Oh come on just taste it, I am a good baker" she tried

"It's not very professional ma'am" he explained again but it didn't seem to work.

"Well then it's an order from me, try it, just a taste and then I won't bug you I promise please" she pleaded.

His resolve gave in.

Leaning down, he took the bite of cake from the spoon extended in front of him by her hand.

The cake was delicious maybe the best he'd ever had, maybe that was due to the fact he ate it from her hand but everything aside, she was a marvelous baker.

She frowned as his face remained stoic as he chewed.

"So? How is it?" She asked looking at him hopefully.

"It's great ma'am, you're an exceptional baker" he complimented and a shit eating grin spread across her face, all her dimples showing.

She looked so vibrant.

"I told you so" she said childishly before taking a bite from the same plate and spoon, not thinking too much of it.

"You know, I wanna be baker someday with a bakery of my own with my own kitchen and all sorts of baking utilities, I've even fantasized about what the interior would look like, there will definitely be spinning stools" she rambled on about her fantasy bakery.

He listened to each and every word of her rambling, clinging onto it.

In all honesty, if it was up to him he would buy her fucking bakery just to see her happy and grinning like before.

Everything in the world is worth that grin.
