Chapter 1 PROLOGUE

"I hope you will once again support my candidacy for Mayor and my son's candidacy for Congressman here in our neighborhood," grandfather said, to great applause. "You may count on a significant shift and assistance from our family to our countrymen, and I guarantee you that --"

Grandfather was unable to continue speaking due to the sudden shutting out of the lights within the coliseum, as well as the loud yells and shouts of the people inside. I dashed to the stage, where Daddy and Grandpa were waiting with the guards, they were both perplexed.

"What's going on, Edwardo?" Grandpa's voice sounded irritated, yet his tone was tinged with fear.

"I don't know dad, everything occurred quickly," daddy said as he assisted grandpa in walking.

I looked around, expecting to spot the perpetrator at their rally. We're surrounded by bodyguards, yet I don't feel safe.

We haven't even been able to go for good to the stage when a gunshot rang out right on the way we were on, prompting us all to come to a halt. The bodyguards who were with us were on high alert.

Because of the crashes and other noises, I looked around till I saw all of the body guards was now lying behind me, unconscious. Shit. What caused this to happen? I didn't even notice someone approaching us because it moved so quickly.

Grandpa and Daddy were cursing one after the other for no apparent cause. I focused my attention in front of me since I felt like someone was looking at me until I felt a tremendous kick in my gut, leading me to fall to the floor.

I was gripped tightly in my stomach due to the excruciating discomfort. I gradually recovered and tried to stand up, but a hard item struck my foot, leading me to fall again. Fuck.

I'm not sure what happened to grandfather and daddy at this moment, but the surroundings suddenly turned quiet. All I can hear now are footsteps that I don't recognize. Footsteps approaching in my direction. But, based on the tone of his walk, I get the impression that he's not a huge man.

As I watched this man's figure, I could feel my heart pounding. "Don't hurt my grandson, whatever you are, you devil!" I heard my grandfather yell at the person standing not far from me as a reason for him to stop approaching me.

I spotted him turning slightly in the direction of my grandfather, so I stood up and was going to attack him when surprisingly, he was able to avoid it.

With each movement, I can smell the feminine scent this person wears. I was about to shoot him when I noticed that the gun he was holding was already pointed at my face. Shit.

It's terrifying to think that my nervousness will cause me to pass out. His entire face was hidden behind a black mask, yet I could feel him staring at me, grinning. He seemed to be inspecting and studying my entire being.

I just stood there staring at the gun he was holding. In my nervousness, I could feel sweat running from my brow down to my neck. It's like in just a simple wrong move, and I'm dead. He was like a bizarre creature, his head was cocked as if he was scanning the contents of my brain.

When Grandpa suddenly moved behind him, he swiftly spun around, giving me the opportunity to grab the gun from him while kicking him hard in the chest, causing him to fall.

But his chest surprised me. She is a lady. Despite my amazement, I focused more on her. Despite my trembling hands, I levelled my revolver at her. I could feel her small grin even though she was wearing a mask.

"Are you shaking?" My eyes widened in surprise as she proceeded to talk. So it is true that she is a woman, huh? I knew it, her stance is not masculine. I was even more astonished when I gradually recognized her voice. "Just make sure that when you shoot the gun, it hits me. You might make a mistake and kill one of the people behind me, which you will regret Ace Silvenia."

"Who the fuck are you?!" I couldn't stop myself from yelling. I also noticed grandpa and daddy's disbelief. I walked carefully in their direction.

While still staring at the woman in front of us, I quickly blocked myself with them. As she stood up, I noticed her grin.

"How are you Mayor Silvenia?" she sarcastically questioned grandfather, as if I needed another excuse to turn to grandpa, who is still backed by daddy. Only then did I notice the wound on his leg. "There are a lot of idiots in this town, you know ? Do they still trust in your family's promises? What changes are you referring to, Mayor?"

I grimaced as I shifted my gaze between my granddad and this woman. She knows my family, and I'm sure she has a history with them. And I have no idea what it is.

"What the heck are you talking about, woman? I don't know you, so shut up." Grandpa's voice was feeble but angry.

She grinned. "I have been silent for fifteen years, and we have been silent for fifteen years. We have let you have fun while enjoying our family's fortune," I frowned. Nothing makes sense to me. "Perhaps it's time for us to reclaim what you stole from us? I'm tired of seeing -- "

"Shut up!!" I yelled and fired a revolver at her, but I missed to hit her due to extreme shaking of my hand. "Who exactly are you?"

"Are you sure you want to know who I am? You might be surprised," she added, as my chest throbbed even more. As I watched her take the wrapped mask from his face, I swallowed many times. I don't know why I'm feeling nervous, maybe because I'm afraid my suspicions is right about this girl behind those mask.

The extreme force of my chest's beating has rendered me deaf. My palm trembled even more as I realized who was hiding beneath the black mask.

"Ria..." I murmured gently as she finally removed her mask and tossed it to the side.

Her brow furrowed. "Ria? Oh, you mean my sister?" My brow wrinkled further. What on earth is she on about? "You're such a naive Ace, you're such a big fool," she chuckled.

I was able to shoot her again since I was so irritated, although I'm not sure how she managed to dodge all the bullets I fired.

I was about to shoot her again but someone hit my arm, causing me to finally let go of the gun I was holding. Fuck! I was being held tightly by the bleeding area of my arm. I looked in front of us, irritated.

I was astonished to find another person dressed just like the same woman earlier. Her rifle was aimed directly at me. But I was even more astonished when she suddenly removed her mask.

I'm not sure if I was dreaming or what. But I saw two faces. They have a similar appearance. I looked at the second woman with the gun, and I could see the pain in her eyes as she gazed at me.

"Ria..." I gently whispered when I realized which of them was the woman I love.

"Shoot him, Jewel," the first woman said. When I saw the tears in her eyes, I just stared at her, my chest hurts. "What are you waiting for, huh? Kill them!"

I noticed her hands was trembling. I knew she couldn't do it because I knew her. I was taken aback when the first woman abruptly took Ria's rifle and pointed it at us.

But I was astonished even more when Ria ran towards me and blocked herself with me.

"No, please," she pleaded to her sister. "Please, Krystal, don't kill him. I'm begging you."

"Shut up, Jewel! You're insane! You may have forgotten, they murdered our parents!" My eyes widened when I heard it. I looked at grandpa and daddy, who were as astonished as I was. "Oh, if you don't know us, Mayor. We are the daughter of Miguel Claveria. Oh wait, maybe you don't remember him either? He is the only former Congressman here, but because your beloved son cannot defeat our father, you killed him. You killed our parents, your family ruined our life !"

"I don't know what you're saying, you're useless," Grandpa muttered, his voice trembling as Krystal leveled her gun at him.

"Shut up, old man," she yelled. "You took life, thus the replacement is also life, but I will prioritize your dearest grandson." I was astonished when she aimed her gun at me again.

"No, please do not hurt my son, anything we've done wrong to your family will be rectified --"

Dad was about to say something when she abruptly hit his arm. Fuck. Strangely, she was too sharp to use a rifle.

"Get the hell out of there, Jewel."

"Please stop this, that's enough." Ria said, nearly dizzy since she was crying.

"Get the heck out of there, Jewel, I'm so pissed of right now. Come on, wake up! They murdered our parents, our lives became miserable because of them. They deserve to die -- "

"Please don't kill the father of my child.." I was astonished to hear that. Ria's sobs was the only thing I could hear when the agony in my arm suddenly vanished.

"What are you talking about?" She could hardly hear that question because I was so weak when I said it.

"What in the world are you on about, Jewel?"

"I'm pregnant, and he's the father of the baby i was carrying."
