The CEO's Second Marriage Chapter 1 Pregnancy News

"You pregnant."

A middle-aged doctor with black-rimmed glasses said directly to Clara while looking at the LCD computer.

Clara, who was dizzy and weak with a fever, felt that something had exploded in her brain when she heard the news, which made her even dizzier.

"Doctor, but... I mean, if I didn't want this child, I could have an abortion one day?"

The doctor frowned slightly upon hearing this, lifted his head from the computer gaze, and looked at the beautiful young woman in front of him, not understanding, "Don't you young people take your bodies seriously? You should know there is only a 7% chance of getting pregnant. Due to your body structure and a history of previous miscarriages, if you insist on an abortion, it will do great damage to your body. And, likely, you won't be able to get pregnant again in the future."

Clara was taken aback by the doctor's words, and in a daze, she walked out of the hospital with the report.

It's going into fall, and it's raining the first fall, which isn't too much but also prevents Clara from moving forward.

She stood at the hospital gate frantically, looking up at the overcast sky, and was so depressed that she felt uncomfortable.

Why did Clara look like she didn't want the child? It's not like that, and it's just that the kid came at the wrong time.

A few days ago, her husband Hadrian Dawson returned from overseas, and she had carefully prepared a party at home to celebrate their second wedding anniversary.

Unexpectedly, what was waiting was the divorce papers.

Clara was taken aback.

She asks Hadrian why he suddenly filed for divorce.

Hadrian sneered a few times, looked calmly at Clara sitting by the bed, and said coldly, "You originally planned our wedding. And now, it's been one year since grandpa died. I think there's no need for us to continue this."

"You don't believe me?"

"Why should I trust you? A woman who climbs into a man's bed for money and uses weak excuses to get my grandfather to force me to marry you. Why should I trust someone like you?"

She slightly raised her head and looked at Hadrian in disbelief. Somewhere in her heart, it ached like a pinprick, and she couldn't help but tremble. Her eyes suddenly reddened, and tears flowed out, "My mother said to do intimate things the first time; it must be done with someone I like. You were the first to touch me at that time, and then you married me. What's wrong with that?"

"Don't forget anything else, and you were the one who tricked me. Put something in the wine I drank, and let me touch you."

"I didn't do that."

Clara is still arguing and won't admit what she didn't do.

But Hadrian didn't believe it.

He held his hands around his waist nonchalantly from start to finish, staring condescendingly at Clara.

"So, the good things you and I did together in the past were for grandpa, right?" Clara asked reluctantly.

"Where do you think I fell in love with you? I have absolutely no interest in a strange woman like you."

Clara squeezed the sheets tightly, tears began to fall, and her whole body trembled.

Clara always thought that their marriage relationship was perfect and very happy. When Grandpa was alive, Hadrian was very obedient and considerate to her. According to famous words on the Internet, she is the wife her husband loves very much.

Grandpa died a year ago.

The relationship between them began to fade day by day. Hadrian often didn't come home at night and became so indifferent to Clara that he didn't care about her. The couple who previously lay in the same bed and fell asleep with love and affection then slept in separate rooms.

At first, Clara thought that Grandpa's death had dealt a massive blow to Hadrian because he was the person who loved him the most in his life.

Therefore, at first, Clara was very forgiving of Hadrian, and as usual, she took care of the house, made food for him, and acted as a good wife.

Later, however, various scandals about Hadrian appeared on major media websites and TV news.

"President Hadrian on a late night date with a mysterious woman in a hotel."

"President Hadrian visits his girlfriend who is reportedly cast from 'Wonderful World' "

"An actress is suspected of having a relationship with a wealthy third generation."

Each scandal is related to a different woman.

Hadrian and Clara were married secretly, and they didn't have a wedding ceremony but only got a marriage certificate.

At that time, grandfather wanted Hadrian to announce it, but Hadrian was not ready. He gave because he had just joined the Dawson Group at that time, and he didn't want to stand out too much to spread rumours. He would wait until he was thoroughly familiar with the company's business, became the company's leader, and stood firm in public.

Grandpa agreed at the time.

This leaves everyone unaware that Hadrian, who is only 23 years old, is married.

And that is marriage at a relatively young age in America's upper class.

At the time, Clara was obsessed with Hadrian and didn't care about publicity matters.

Therefore, except for a few close friends who knew the secret of the two getting married, everyone thought Hadrian was a third-generation rich man who was still single.

Clara doesn't agree to a divorce, but Hadrian raises a mistress outside.

Thinking of this, Clara's body trembled uncontrollably. Her heart ached as a knife stabbed, and her breath became laboured with pain.

She quietly touched her stomach as if she wanted to feel the touch of a small living from there.

She stood by the hospital gate, laughing and crying like a fool for a while, and when she regained consciousness, she controlled her emotions and reached out to stop the taxi.

The woman has returned to the villa.

No, she considered herself home alone.

They both got married, and Hadrian bought a villa outside as a small house for them. They both live in this house.

Hadrian would only take her back to the Dawsons' home for a meal with his parents and grandfather during the New Year's Eve celebrations.

She thought it was a happy married life, but Hadrian was powerless to face himself.

After Clara got out of the car, she saw Hadrian's black Ferrari in the front yard.

'He's back.' Clara thought.

Clara stepped into the house with hasty steps.

Hadrian leaned back on the sofa and made a phone call in a sweet voice.

After seeing Clara's return, his emotions didn't fluctuate. He glanced at her coldly and continued to act affectionately with the person on the other end of the line.

Clara carried the pregnancy report in her hands, looking at the happy Hadrian uncomfortably. Her pursed lips revealed her thoughts.

She wanted to tell Hadrian immediately, 'You're going to be a dad soon; can we not get a divorce?'

But just as the words were about to leave her mouth, she swallowed them again.

She was sitting quietly beside Hadrian, waiting for him to hang up.

As she wished, Hadrian quickly hung up.

"Is there something wrong?" An indifferent voice rang out.

"Yes."

"You've made up your mind?"

This topic is brought up for the second time. Her heart trembled slightly, and she swallowed what was about to be said.

After a long silence, Clara looked Hadrian in the eye and asked, "Hadrian, can we not divorce? Even if you don't have feelings for me, we still have time to get to know and develop feelings."

Hadrian listened to her. He sneered at the ridiculous words and said, "Clara, has anyone ever told you that you are naive? Or, in other words, you are stupid. Just say the conditions. What conditions do you want this divorce to be willing to go?"

Clara was still not used to this indifferent and cruel Hadrian.

She still seems to be drowning in the happy days when Hadrian spoiled her in her first year of marriage. She once thought she was the luckiest and most optimistic person in the world.

But suddenly, like a different person, that person was so indifferent to her that she was like a stranger and woke up from the dream.

But she's still not ready!

"I don't want a divorce," Clara said her decision.

My five-year-old daughter was dying in the ICU, her heartbeat replaced by the continuous, electronic scream of a flatline. I gripped her cold hand, my throat sealed shut by a terror so absolute I couldn't even cry out. I dialed my husband Grayson's private number, the one reserved only for me and his assistants. He declined the call instantly. A second later, a text buzzed against my palm: "In a meeting. Do not disturb. Stop calling." Five miles away, Grayson was at a luxury gala, adjusting his silk tie and laughing with Belle Escobar. He told her I was just being "dramatic" and using our daughter's "fever" as an excuse to avoid the event. He had no idea Effie's heart had already stopped. When I finally reached our penthouse, soaked from the rain and carrying Effie's small socks in a plastic bag, Grayson didn't even look at me. He snapped at me for ruining the hardwood floors and asked if I'd left Effie with the nanny just to "feel sorry for myself." Three days later, while I buried our daughter in a small, lonely ceremony, Grayson was at the Hamptons. Belle posted a photo of him golfing with the caption: "A mental health day with the boys." He didn't even attend the funeral, but he returned home demanding I clear out Effie's room to make a study for Belle's son. The injustice burned through me until there was nothing left. I swallowed a handful of sleeping pills, desperate to join my daughter. But instead of the darkness, I woke up to blinding lights and the scent of Grayson's expensive cologne. I was standing in a ballroom, wearing a blue silk dress I had already burned. Above me, a banner read: "Happy 5th Birthday Kaiden & Effie." I was back, exactly one year before the tragedy. This time, I wasn't going to be the grieving wife. I was going to be their worst nightmare.

I went to the City Clerk’s office for a routine copy of my marriage license to finalize a trust fund audit. I expected a simple piece of paper, but the clerk’s pitying look told me my entire life was a lie. "The license was never finalized, Ms. Oliver. In the eyes of the state, you are single." The three-hundred-guest wedding at the Plaza and the Vogue features meant nothing. My husband, Gray Cooley, had intentionally filed the documents with a "procedural defect" so he could discard me without a legal divorce. Moments later, an iCloud invite titled "Our Little Secret" popped up on my screen. It was a photo of my best friend, Brylee, holding a positive pregnancy test at our Hamptons estate. Gray’s text to her was the final blow: "Happy anniversary, babe. This baby is the best gift. Once the trust unlocks today, we’re done with the charade." I soon discovered they were even stealing my career, reassigning my architectural masterpiece to Brylee while preparing my eviction notice. Gray's mother called me a "barren mule" in a leaked recording, mocking the infertility I suffered after saving Gray’s life in a construction accident. I wasn't a wife; I was a three-year placeholder used to secure his inheritance. How could the man I bled for treat me like a disposable prop? How could my best friend carry his child while pretending to comfort me through my darkest moments? The betrayal burned until it turned into a cold, hard stone of fury. I didn't cry. Instead, I walked into the penthouse of the Barretts, the Cooleys' most powerful rivals. I signed a marriage contract with Kane Barrett, the man the tabloids called the "Beast of Wall Street." "I want a wedding," I told his father, my voice steady and lethal. "Bigger than the one I had with Gray." If they wanted me gone, they would have to watch me become the woman who owns their world.

I stood at my mother’s open grave in the freezing rain, my heels sinking into the mud. The space beside me was empty. My husband, Hilliard Holloway, had promised to cherish me in bad times, but apparently, burying my mother didn't fit into his busy schedule. While the priest’s voice droned on, a news alert lit up my phone. It was a livestream of the Metropolitan Charity Gala. There was Hilliard, looking impeccable in a custom tuxedo, with his ex-girlfriend Charla English draped over his arm. The headline read: "Holloway & English: A Power Couple Reunited?" When he finally returned to our penthouse at 2 AM, he didn't come alone—he brought Charla with him. He claimed she’d had a "medical emergency" at the gala and couldn't be left alone. I found a Tiffany diamond necklace on our coffee table meant for her birthday, and a smudge of her signature red lipstick on his collar. When I confronted him, he simply told me to stop being "hysterical" and "acting like a child." He had no idea I was seven months pregnant with his child. He thought so little of my grief that he didn't even bother to craft a convincing lie, laughing with his mistress in our home while I sat in the dark with a shattered heart and a secret life growing inside me. "He doesn't deserve us," I whispered to the darkness. I didn't scream or beg. I simply left a folder on his desk containing signed divorce papers and a forged medical report for a terminated pregnancy. I disappeared into the night, letting him believe he had successfully killed his own legacy through his neglect. Five years later, Hilliard walked into "The Vault," the city's most exclusive underground auction, looking for a broker to manage his estate. He didn't recognize me behind my Venetian mask, but he couldn't ignore the neon pink graffiti on his armored Maybach that read "DEADBEAT." He had no clue that the three brilliant triplets currently hacking his security system were the very children he thought had been erased years ago. This time, I wasn't just a wife in the way; I was the one holding all the cards.
