Chapter 1 Get a mate

Chapter one: Get a mate!

"You'll have to get a mate or forfeit your chance of becoming the alpha of this pack!" Fredrick Huntsman's coarse voice reverberated loudly through the walls of his chambers. They were at it once again, the noisy exchange of words between father and son. The servants were already used to all these as it happened almost all the time.

His son had once again rejected another lady brought to him as a mate. The fact that he rejected her wasn't really what bothered Fredrick, it was the manner at which his son had treated her that made him mad. Not to mention she was the Luna of a prestigious pack. Wasn't she beautiful? Of course she was, everyone would always pray to have someone of such beauty and elegance as hers but his had to just blow it.

"I've told you father, those girls aren't just meant for me" came the clear and soft reply of Logan Huntsman, his son and future heir to the lordship as Bloodmoon's Alpha. He had a jet black coloured hair, a distinct masculine jawline with pointy nose. His pink rosy lips was what ladies would love to have a taste of and his blue dreamy eyes were what they could get lost in. He was one handsome piece of art work.

Fredrick was fed up, he ran his bulky hand through his thick black hair. He paced up and down his spacious room, which had a large quilt right at the center with a red fluffy rug beneath it and a wide golden chandelier hanging from above. The marbled floor glimmered from time to time with lustre. A log standing mirror was positioned atop it's dressing table at an angle and a chair before it. The white curtains were parted revealing the wide and long window, one would think it was a door. The entire room spelt luxury and this was just a tip of the iceberg of Fredrick's wealth.

He had tried all his best to help his one and only son to get a suitable mate but every single attempt he made seemed to prove futile. He knew what the people were saying and he despised them. He didn't like what was going around in the corners of his kingdom– that his only son couldn't get a mate. Who would be his Luna when he finally becomes the Alpha?

"My lord, you worry too much get back to bed heh" a woman who was lying on the king sized bed of a quilt said. From the angle she had laid, one could see she was naked, although her private parts were concealed by a blanket.

"Silence you whore!" Fredrick made a blurt, pointing his finger at the woman.

"Oh!" she let out a gasp, her face holding a shocked expression. Then she scoffed before pulling the quilt's drapes together angrily, totally concealing her from view.

Turning to his son whose five feet eight inches height and averagely build physique stood rooted to a spot not uttering a word, Fredrick said.

"Now you're going to tell me why you can't just get yourself a mate, is it so hard for you?". He was obviously frustrated, his furrowed brows and frustrated gestures said it all.

"I never said I can't get a mate father, I–"

"Then what, tell me, why do you keep rejecting the ones brought to you?" his father cut him short of his words with a question of his.

"Because I'm not a fetish womanizer like you!" Logan blurted out sharply, he was frustrated by his father's repeated queries. Fredrick didn't say a word, he wanted to get angry at him but then he decided against it. He just turned around, face palming himself.

However, Logan didn't feel any form of remorse or regret for what he had just uttered. His mother had passed away right after his birth– at least that was what he was told– and since he was old enough to understand things, his father had never stopped bringing in several various woman to satisfy his thirst for pleasure. Dark, fair, tall, short, fat, slim and what have you, his father had tried them all and wasn't ready to put an end to it. This created the little bit of his resentment towards his father.

"You know what, just leave ok" Fredrick said without turning his gaze to face his son, he just gestured with his right hand.

"I think he's hurt" an inner voice from Logan's head spoke, it was his wolf, Dekar. Of course, he was the only one who could hear it's voice. Logan smirked as he made his way towards the chamber's exit. However, his father's voice made him to halt.

"I do hope you find a mate one day, son" was what he said before remaining silent. Logan took the cue and made his way out of the chamber.

Immediately the doors were shut, thee drapes of the quilt parted open and the woman's head popped out.

"Now are you ready for me my lord?" she asked with a seductive smile.

Fredrick just stared at her as a sly smirk also crept up his lips. He then slowly approached the quilt.

Outside, Logan heaved a long sigh of relief. The old man was done with his ranting once again. Now he could get back to his personal business.

"Yunno, you really should listen to your father about getting a mate" Dekar voiced again from within.

"Ptff," Logan scoffed instead "the old man's just saying his own, besides those chicks he brings aren't my mate, you know that" he added. He ignored totally the occasional respectful bows from several servants. It was as though they never existed at all.

"I do but you're also not making any attempt in trying to find her too" Dekar pressed further.

"Oh so now you want me to start visiting all the ladies in the pack to know who my mate is" Logan asked sarcastically, spreading his arms apart as he approached the end of the long hallway.

"Just relax Dekar, it's not just the right time yet" he said even before his wolf could utter any other statement.

"And when is this 'right time?' " Dekar, however asked, laying emphasis on the last two words.

"When the Moon goddess decides" Logan replied as the gigantic doors before him were parted by two guards that were stationed at both sides.

He walked into what looked like a meeting hall. It had a long table that could take at least thirty to forty individuals at both sides. Several portraits were lined up on the walls.

"How was your lecture my prince?" a young man of about Logan's age and brown hair asked with a smile, the tone of sarcasm not hidden from his words.

Logan in turn played along, smiling while saying.

"Why thank you, it was extremely educative"

"Haha haha... " they both laughed uproariously after he said that. The three others present in the hall just watched without any expression on their faces.

"That old man wouldn't just let me be, he's really determined to get me a mate eh" Logan voiced as he took his seat on a chair at the front of the lengthy table.

"It's all for the best, my prince" the young brown haired replied as he also took his seat along with the others who had been standing. It was the norm here not to sit when a superior hasn't had his or her seat yet.

"I know, Michael but I should be given some time for the right Luna to come, not to be forced into marrying some random nonentity" he said, gesturing frustratingly with his hands.

Michael didn't utter any statement afterward, not until Logan spoke.

"Alright, what is the state of things outside the pack walls?" he asked, placing his hands on the table. As the prince of the Bloodmoon pack, he had been vested with a responsibility as chief commander of the army. He oversees and controls the entire pack's army and the protection and safety of the pack was solely in his hands. If he wasn't good at finding his mate, his father had said, at least he could be useful as a soldier.

"Um, before we begin, my prince, I'd like to request for more supplies for the soldiers on the Eastern side, we're getting short of them" a man that looked to be in his early thirties spoke.

"Hmm, I'll see to that after the meeting has been concluded" Logan replied.

"Thank you, my prince"

"My prince, I have to draw your attention to the increasing number of rouge wolves on the Northern side of the walls" another one with a blonde hair who looked to be in his early twenties said.

"Tsk, those rouges, we need to do something about them and quick" the prince said and remained silent, the others also remained silent, all seemingly waiting for their prince to relay his next order.

"Has any of them been questioned?" he asked.

"Yes my prince, but all of them keep refusing to give any useful information" the blondie replied.

"One of them even tried to escape, but we were quick to apprehend him, although he succeeded in injuring a soldier" he added.

"That's it, I'm going have to get over there to see things for myself" Logan said as he fisted his right hand. He then looked around at the rest.

"Anything else?" he asked, looking around.

They all didn't reply and just looked at one another before each shaking their heads negatively.

"Alright then, this meeting is over" the young prince declared and immediately, stood to his feet. The others followed suit immediately to signify their respects for him. Then he turned to leave, Michael following him behind while the others taking their seats once again.
