Chapter 1 Fulfilling Dreams

Violet POV

A beautiful looking woman probably in her early twenties was seen running up the stairs with a three year old child in her arms, she looked back in fear continuously as if someone was following her, soon she got to the top of the stairs, sighed in relief and smiled at the baby

"did you really think you could run from us" a male voice came from behind her, the woman froze then gripped the baby in fear

she shouted "you can't take her"

"too late" the man said as he took a gun and shot the woman's leg making her fall and cry in pain

"noooo" she wailed as the baby was taken from her

"any last words" the man asked smiling devilishly as he pointed the gun to her forehead and pulled the trigger...

I woke up in sweat, I just had that stupid nightmare again, I've had that dream a few times ever since watching a scary movie last year, I'm not really into horror but I did it on a dare, curse Lisa for forcing me to watch

Suddenly Bella barged into my room

"come on Vee today is the big day, you have to be ready in five minutes and I've prepared your favorite breakfast"

I rolled my eyes, sometimes i think she is the big sister rather than me, she's just ten and she can cook simple dishes, do house chores and wake up early on her own.

And here I was at eighteen, too lazy to get out of bed early, even frying eggs could be considered rocket science for me.

With a groan, i lazily dragged myself out of the bed and stepped into the shower letting the warm water cool my head

Today is the day of my very important interview with Avia Institute of Gems and Jewellery the one that will grant me a scholarship to the institute.

And honestly i wasn't nervous or anxious like most people will be because not to brag but i know for a fact that I'm the best when it comes to Gems and Jewellery, so getting the scholarship will be a piece of cake for me

Within minutes i was done showering, i went to my closet and picked a denim trouser and jacket with a white shirt, i love such casual wears, they often boost my confidence

"i thought you were never going to come out" Bella teased as I entered the dining room, my mouth watered as i smelled the delicious aroma of the breakfast she just made, "you are the world best cook" i complimented her and she beamed with pride.

As I stuffed my face with waffles I told her "remember if Amanda and Gary comes home and asks of me you know what to say" she sighed "you know I'm not a fan of lies but for you, I'll do it"

Avia Institute of Gems and Jewellery is known as the world's number one institute of studying Gems and creating Jewellery, any parent will be proud to have their child there except mine of course.

Though the tuition is expensive, over five thousand people are going for the interview and out of this five thousand, Three thousand will gain admission to the institute and just ten will get the scholarship, I have to be one of the lucky ten because no one will pay for the tuition, especially not my parents, they hate the idea of me studying and are never in support of what I do

They must not even know about this interview or else they will do everything in their power to stop me, that's why Bella has to lie to them.

I kissed her cheek in appreciation "love you sis, I'm running late so i have to go now"

"Good luck Vee, i know you will do great, so eat that interview and leave no crumbs" she laughed at her own joke

Her assurance of me doing well only fueled my confidence to a 1000%

The institute has placed at least fifty buses in different parts of the country to convey interviewees to the office where the interview is to take place.

I took a taxi to the nearest bus station and Within twenty minutes i got there, and met almost a hundred interviewees standing by the side of the road, waiting for the bus to arrive

Some looked nervous while others looked determined, I sighed, today is going to be tough

Most of them stood in groups talking and sharing ideas, i didn't know anyone there so i just stood in a corner and looked over my credentials and documents that will be used during the interview.

Satisfied with what i saw, i looked up to find a handsome guy with gorgeous blond hair and grey eyes looking at me

I grimaced "and you are"

"Caleb, nice to meet you" he stretched out his hand but i didn't shake it

"I see, you are not comfortable with talking to strangers" he blushed with embarrassment putting his hand in his pocket

"What do you want" i said already bored of his presence

"you dropped your earring while walking and i thought of giving you" he said and held out a pair of my expensive Chanel earring

I touched my ear and sighed in realization "thank you so much, sorry for being rude though"

"its okay I'm not that welcoming to strangers either" he smiled, i took the earring from him and wore it.

We talked for a while and i found out that his mother is one of the directors of the institute but she told him that she will not pull strings for him and he should work just as hard as everyone to get the admission to the institute

I was surprised "wow, its rare to see parents do such, your mom must be really strict to do that, but honestly its the right thing to do"

He nodded "i couldn't agree more, mom and i strongly believe in hard work rather than nepotism, by the way getting into such an institute will be such a huge feat"

For me getting into the institute will be more than a huge feat, but a dream come true.

Gems and creation of Jewellery has been my life long passion and studying in the institute will only ignite the fervor in me and fulfill my dreams of having my own Jewellery making company, dreams of being known all over the world, dreams of proving to the world and especially my parents that girls are more than pretty faces and can achieve something other than being a good house wife.

I smiled I can't wait to make these dreams a reality.

I lay paralyzed on stiff white sheets, a prisoner in my own skin, listening to the rain lash against the window like nails on a coffin. My father, Elmore Franco, didn't even look at my face as he checked his clipboard. He just listened to the steady, monotonous beep of the heart monitor-the only thing proving I was still alive. Without a hint of remorse, he pulled a pen from his pocket and signed the Do Not Resuscitate order. My stepmother, Ophelia, stepped out from behind him, wearing my favorite pearl necklace and smelling of cloying perfume. She leaned close to my ear to whisper the truth that turned my blood to ice. "It was the tea, darling. Just like your mother. A slow, tasteless poison." She chuckled as she revealed that my fiancé, Bryce, had a two-year-old son with my sister, Daniela. My inheritance had been funding their secret life for years, and now that the money was secure, I was an inconvenience they were finally scrubbing away. As my father yanked the power cord from the wall, the beeping died, and the darkness swallowed me whole. I was being murdered by my own flesh and blood, used as a bank account until I was no longer needed. I died in that sterile room, drowning in the realization that every person I ever loved was a monster who had been waiting for me to take my last breath. Then, I gasped. I woke up in a luxury hotel suite surrounded by silk sheets, five years in the past-the very morning of my wedding. Next to me lay Basile Delgado, the "Wolf of Wall Street" and my family's most dangerous enemy. In my first life, I ran from this room in a panic and lost everything. This time, I looked at the man who would eventually destroy my father's empire and decided to join him. "I'm not leaving, Basile. Marry me. Right now. Today."

The sterile white of the operating room blurred, then sharpened, as Skye Sterling felt the cold clawing its way up her body. The heart monitor flatlined, a steady, high-pitched whine announcing her end. Her uterus had been removed, a desperate attempt to stop the bleeding, but the blood wouldn't clot. It just kept flowing, warm and sticky, pooling beneath her. Through heavy eyes, she saw a trembling nurse holding a phone on speaker. "Mr. Kensington," the nurse's voice cracked, "your wife... she's critical." A pause, then a sweet, poisonous giggle. Seraphina Miller. "Liam is in the shower," Seraphina's voice purred. "Stop calling, Skye. It's pathetic. Faking a medical emergency on our anniversary? Even for you, that's low." Then, Liam's bored voice: "If she dies, call the funeral home. I have a meeting in the morning." Click. The line went dead. A second later, so did Skye. The darkness that followed was absolute, suffocating, a black ocean crushing her lungs. She screamed into the void, a silent, agonizing wail of regret for loving a man who saw her as a nuisance, for dying without ever truly living. Until she died, she didn't understand. Why was her life so tragically wasted? Why did her husband, the man she loved, abandon her so cruelly? The injustice of it all burned hotter than the fever in her body. Then, the air rushed back in. Skye gasped, her body convulsing violently on the mattress. Her eyes flew open, wide and terrified, staring blindly into the darkness. Her trembling hand reached for her phone. May 12th. Five years ago. She was back.

I sat in the gray, airless room of the New York State Department of Corrections, my knuckles white as the Warden delivered the news. "Parole denied." My father, Howard Sterling, had forged new evidence of financial crimes to keep me behind bars. He walked into the room, smelling of expensive cologne, and tossed a black folder onto the steel table. It was a marriage contract for Lucas Kensington, a billionaire currently lying in a vegetative state in the ICU. "Sign it. You walk out today." I laughed at the idea of being sold to a "corpse" until Howard slid a grainy photo toward me. It showed a toddler with a crescent-moon birthmark—the son Howard told me had died in an incubator five years ago. He smiled and told me the boy's safety depended entirely on my cooperation. I was thrust into the Kensington estate, where the family treated me like a "drowned rat." They dressed me in mothball-scented rags and mocked my status, unaware that I was monitoring their every move. I watched the cousin, Julian, openly waiting for Lucas to die to inherit the empire, while the doctors prepared to sign the death certificate. I didn't understand why my father would lie about my son’s death for years, or what kind of monsters would use a child as a bargaining chip. The injustice of it burned in my chest as I realized I was just a pawn in a game of old money and blood. As the monitors began to flatline and the family started to celebrate their inheritance, I locked the door and reached into the hem of my dress. I pulled out the sharpened silver wires I’d fashioned in the prison workshop. They thought they bought a submissive convict, but they actually invited "The Saint"—the world’s most dangerous underground surgeon—into their home. "Wake up, Lucas. You owe me a life." I wasn't there to be a bride; I was there to wake the dead and burn their empire to the ground.
