The Wrong Miss Ye

She was busy at work, like always when she had gotten the call; it was from an unknown number.

With hesitation, she picked up her phone which was on top of the files she had piled on the right side of her working desk and immediately pressed the receive button.

" Mam, please...please... Ye Zinxao has gone missing, " the caller, a female suddenly revealed, stammering and with fear visible in her voice.

" What do you mean by Ye Zinxao has gone missing? " she quickly asked, standing up from her seat with full force, almost knocking her desk over.

No...!

This couldn't be happening to her.

It's not possible.

She can't loose her daughter just like that.

" How did she get missing? " she suddenly demanded with a trembling voice.

" Um, she had gone to lunch break with her friends and never showed up till now. We feared she might've been kidnapped. "

" What...? Oh my God, " she yelled into the receiver. " Alright, I'm coming over to the school right now, I'll be there very soon, " she said.

At this particular moment, she was greatly disturbed and confused and was even shivering in fright, however, she tried her very best to conceal it and not to let the caller know.

After finally disconnecting the call, she immediately dashed out of the office, leaving behind what she had been working on before the call came and headed downstairs straight to her old BMW that she had bought some months back at a cheap price because of it's bad condition and jumped inside.

For several minutes, she worked on sparking the car yet to no avail, however, she never gave up and continued and after quite a few more tries, she was finally able to get it done and the car suddenly roared to life.

With a speed that of lightning, she quickly drove onto the road and sped off into the distance.

On the way to the school, she kept on thinking about her life which so far had been nothing full of sadness and misfortunes.

At first, she had lost her mother and now just as she was about to secure a job in the biggest fashion company in the country after so many years of searching, her daughter had also suddenly gone missing, and now she won't be able to meet the deadline in order to get the job.

Could her life be any more worse than it is?

As she finally got to her daughter's school, she jumped out of the car without even turning off the ignition and quickly stormed straight into the principal's office.

In her heart, she was hoping that what she had been told would be false and that when she gets into the office the principal would tell her that she had just been pranked and that her daughter was fine, but when she opened the door to the office, walked inside and saw the teachers in the room with grave expressions, the little hope and courage she had gathered disappeared immediately. " How could you let this happen? How did she even get missing? And have you informed the cops about it? " she asked,sobbing as she reached her hand into her bag to retrieve her phone.

" Relax miss Ye, we seriously can't involve the cops in this matter, " the principal,an old white haired man with bushy beard spoke, making her frown. She looked towards him with rage.

" Relax...! Did I just hear you say I should relax? My young daughter has gone missing, only God knows what's happened to her or where she's at the moment and you open your mouth to tell me relax? Now tell me, why do you think I would listen to you and not let the cops know about this? "

" I know your child is missing and I promise you, we're doing our possible best to find her, but we can't afford to let this issue get out. Our school has always been known to be a safe and secured environment where every parent sends their kids and so we can't jeopardize its good image just because of one little girl, " the principal remarked.

" What kind of a man are you? " she exclaimed, staring at the man in total disbelief. " My daughter is missing and probably in danger somewhere out there all you care about is the stupid image of your damn school? I give you all just five minutes to produce my daughter for me if not, I wouldn't only let word about this get out, I'd also make sure the whole world knows about it, " she threatened.

After she was done speaking, she burst out of the room in rage and walked back to her car.

Immediately she got inside, all the tears she had been keeping inside came bobbling down her cheeks unto her dress.

She had always been a weak person but hides it from the world by acting strong and tough.

Her mother's loss had been really tough for her but because of her daughter, she had been able to pull through but now she wasn't even sure she'll be able to live again if her daughter is not found.

" Mummy... mummy...! " she suddenly heard the sweet little voice of her daughter calling out to her and smiled when she felt her little delicate fingers holding her arm, trying to nudge her from her sleep. " Mummy, open your eyes and see, " she heard her spoke in her ordering tone and hastily opened her eyes in order not to make her angry since she was quite a very sensitive child. " Is this your new boss?" the little girl asked her, pointing at a picture of a man.

Following the direction of her tiny hand, she suddenly looked down on her daughter's lap and saw her pointing at the strikingly handsome but cold man on the front page of the newspaper she was holding.

Even though she was just five years old, Zinxao is a very smart girl with an IQ that of three intelligent people combined to one so even before she started school, she could read,write and even solve very difficult and complex mathematics questions.

Feeling a bit disturbed by the dream she had just had, her mind was in a turmoil but because she did not want to alarm her daughter, she just acted as if everything was okay and nodded in response, feigning a smile.

" Doesn't he smile? " the little girl asked, squeezing her face in a funny but cute manner.

" I don't know, Zinxao, maybe you can ask him when we get to meet him, " Ye Sheyu replied with a smile, poking her daughter's nose with her finger, making her giggle.

Even though Ye Sheyu was only joking, her daughter had taken her word seriously and made a mental note to ask the man the question anytime she gets to meet him.

Since the plane had already landed, everyone was getting ready to make their way out, so after unbuckling herself and her daughter, Ye Sheyu carried their luggages and walked out of the plane.

Immediately she was out, she saw the huge crowd waiting outside and stopped in her track, admiring the sight before her and also trying to locate the person who was supposed to come pick them up.

After looking around for a while, her eyes finally landed on the cold and emotionless face of the man who was going to be her new boss and she raised her brow.

Wasn't he supposed to send his secretary or assistant?

Why was he there to pick them up by himself?

With a lot of different thoughts churning through her mind as to why the man was there, Ye Sheyu decided to walk towards his direction, however, before she could even take a step, she was suddenly surrounded by a flock of journalists.

" Miss Ye, we welcome you back to A country, " one of the reporters, a female journalist immediately remarked. " So, how do you feel knowing you have just been signed by the biggest fashion company in the whole world? " she asked, shoving the microphone into Ye Sheyu's face to catch her answer.

Caught off gaurd by their ambush, Ye Sheyu was totally left confused since she was unprepared for them so she didn't know what to say, but after gathering herself up, she spoke. " I have always had the passion to be a fashion designer and throughout all these years, I have tried tirelessly to perfect my skills and being signed by the Teng Company just makes me feel that there are more bigger things ahead of me and that I still have a lot more to learn. "

After giving her answer, Ye Sheyu thought she was going to be allowed to walk away but to her horror, they just kept bombarding her with questions after questions and just when she thought she couldn't take it anymore, a hoarse cold stifling voice suddenly sounded from behind the reporters, sending chills down everyone's spines, including herself.

" That'll be all for today, Miss Ye is staying so you'll all have chances to ask her your questions in the future, " he spoke coldly as he made his way through the reporters and then stood in front of Ye Sheyu and her daughter as if to shield them from the reporters.

Upon seeing the man, Ye Zinxao suddenly remembered the question she had for him.

" You're Teng Wulin right? Mummy's new boss...?" she inquired as she sized the man from head to toe.

" Yes, I am! " the man subtly replied, not taking his eyes off of Ye Sheyu.

" Okay, so why don't you like smiling? " she asked, instantly catching all the grownups off guard.

Even the reporters who were about to leave stopped right in their tracks and quickly turned to watch what the CEO would do.

Seeing the look on her new boss's face, Ye Sheyu decided to reprimand the little girl and turned to her, "how many times have I told you to stop talking to your elderly in this manner? "

" It's okay, " Teng Wulin stopped her and bent in front of the little girl, who at this moment was looking sad and teary. " Who told you I don't smile? " he asked and the little girl responded with a shake of her head.

" No one, sir, but it's just that I saw your picture on the newspaper front-page and you looked very serious and wasn't smiling at all so I knew you barely smile.

" Hearing the little girl explain herself like a grownup, Teng Wulin couldn't help but felt drawn to her.

" Do you really want to know why I don't smile? " he asked her and smiled when Ye Zinxao nodded towards him, showing keen interest.

"Alright, so the reason I don't smile is because I'm all alone and there's nobody to make me smile. "

" Really...! You're alone? Are you not married? " she asked with widened eyes. Teng Wulin chuckled softly, shaking his head.

" No, I'm not, " he replied.

" Oh...! Then in that case why don't you marry my mother? She can make you smile always. "

" Zinxao, that's enough...! " Ye Sheyu screamed, suddenly frightening the little girl. She quickly turned towards the man, " I'm really sorry, " she quickly apologised and pulled her daughter away from the crowd towards the car.

Behind them, the journalists all had their mouths opened as they tried to digest the scene that had taken place in front of them.

While some were praising Ye Sheyu for raising up such a smart child, others were scorning in their heart because they thought she was trying to use her child as a tool to gain the CEO's attention.
