ALPHA _FIGHT Chapter 1 THE BEGINNING

The sun was setting over the sprawling city of New York as a group of wolves gathered at the edge of Central Park. Among them was a young wolf named Max, who had just reached the age of two years old. He was small for his age, but he made up for it with his fierce determination and cunning mind. The pack was led by an aging alpha named Marcus, who had ruled over the pack for over a decade. Marcus was a formidable wolf, with a thick coat of gray fur and piercing blue eyes that seemed to see right through you.

He had led the pack through many trials and tribulations, and he had never been challenged for his position as alpha. But now, there was a sense of unease among the pack. The younger wolves had grown restless under Marcus's rule, and many of them had begun to question his leadership. Max had been watching from the sidelines, biding his time and waiting for his opportunity to prove himself. As the sun disappeared below the horizon, Marcus called the pack together for a meeting. They gathered around him, their eyes fixed on their leader. "My fellow wolves," Marcus began, his voice strong and commanding. "I have called you here tonight to discuss the future of our pack. As you all know, I have led us through many challenges, and I have done my best to guide us towards prosperity and safety." There were murmurs of agreement from the pack, but Max could sense that many of them were growing restless. "However," Marcus continued, "I know that some of you have been questioning my leadership. You wonder if I am still fit to lead this pack, if I am still the alpha that you can trust to protect you and your families." There was a tense silence as the pack waited for Marcus to continue. "I am here to tell you tonight that I am still the alpha of this pack," Marcus said, his eyes flashing with determination. "And I will fight anyone who thinks otherwise." The pack erupted into a frenzy of howls and barks, with some wolves voicing their support for Marcus and others calling for a change in leadership. Max watched from the edge of the group, his mind racing with possibilities. This was his chance to prove himself, to show the pack that he was worthy of being their leader. He knew that he couldn't challenge Marcus directly - the older wolf was too strong and too experienced. But there were other ways to gain power, other paths to the alpha's throne. Max slipped away from the group, his mind already plotting his next move. The fight for alpha had begun.

I went to the City Clerk’s office for a routine copy of my marriage license to finalize a trust fund audit. I expected a simple piece of paper, but the clerk’s pitying look told me my entire life was a lie. "The license was never finalized, Ms. Oliver. In the eyes of the state, you are single." The three-hundred-guest wedding at the Plaza and the Vogue features meant nothing. My husband, Gray Cooley, had intentionally filed the documents with a "procedural defect" so he could discard me without a legal divorce. Moments later, an iCloud invite titled "Our Little Secret" popped up on my screen. It was a photo of my best friend, Brylee, holding a positive pregnancy test at our Hamptons estate. Gray’s text to her was the final blow: "Happy anniversary, babe. This baby is the best gift. Once the trust unlocks today, we’re done with the charade." I soon discovered they were even stealing my career, reassigning my architectural masterpiece to Brylee while preparing my eviction notice. Gray's mother called me a "barren mule" in a leaked recording, mocking the infertility I suffered after saving Gray’s life in a construction accident. I wasn't a wife; I was a three-year placeholder used to secure his inheritance. How could the man I bled for treat me like a disposable prop? How could my best friend carry his child while pretending to comfort me through my darkest moments? The betrayal burned until it turned into a cold, hard stone of fury. I didn't cry. Instead, I walked into the penthouse of the Barretts, the Cooleys' most powerful rivals. I signed a marriage contract with Kane Barrett, the man the tabloids called the "Beast of Wall Street." "I want a wedding," I told his father, my voice steady and lethal. "Bigger than the one I had with Gray." If they wanted me gone, they would have to watch me become the woman who owns their world.
