Chapter 1 Eva

…Eva POV…

Reject me! Just do it already I screamed startling him. Why am I so unfortunate? I thought as tears streamed down my face.

He looked at me surprised at my outburst but I wasn't finished. "You don't need me so why must you keep me", I wiped the tears off my eyes with my sleeves and raised my head up to look at Jace.

***Flash back***

To prove a point that's all I have ever wanted to do. I push myself harder and harder, my body responding to the intense workout. My breathing becomes labored, but I keep pushing, fueled by the adrenaline coursing through my veins.

The sweat on my skin glistens in the light. The snug fit of my black and pink outfit allows me to move freely without worrying about it shifting around or getting in the way.

"Hello", I heard someone say from behind me. I didn't need to think twice. I knew it was Annie.

Annie saw me and approached me, a smirk on her face. "Oh, look who's here. It's little Eva," Annie said, her voice dripping with sarcasm.

I saw my cousin Annie and her friends giggling and chatting in a corner. My heart sank a little as I realized that trouble was brewing.

I looked at my cousin Annie, I couldn't help but notice the subtle similarities she had to to my father who was her uncle. My father and her father are twins.

Annie had a strong jawline and prominent cheekbones, much like her father. Her hair was a rich shade of chestnut brown, similar to his, but it had a slightly wavy texture that was all her own.

Her eyes were a striking blue-green, a color that I had always found fascinating. They seemed to change with the light, shifting from blue to green and back again.

Despite the differences in our appearances, I couldn't deny that Annie was a beautiful woman. Her confidence and poise only added to her allure, and it was no wonder that she often turned heads wherever she went.

Growing up in the same household as my stepsister Annie was a constant source of conflict and tension. My father had slept with my mother, who was from a lesser blood outside of marriage, and as a result, I was born. But according to my father's pack I was of a lesser blood. I was scorned and treated as a weak link in the pack.

Despite the fact that we shared a bloodline, Annie made it her mission to make my life a living hell. She constantly belittled me and made me feel inferior, using her royal blood as a way to justify her actions. It seemed like she took pleasure in my misery and would stop at nothing to make my life difficult.

Living in the same house with her was a constant reminder of my father's infidelity, and it made me feel like an outsider in my own pack. I longed for the day when I could leave and make a life for myself away from the constant drama and conflict. My uncle was most of the times drunk.

At first he had promised to take care off me which he thinks he did by providing me food, shelter and clothes with some additional money but I needed to be loved and cared for and my aunt and cousins are not ones to do that.

But despite the difficulties I faced, I refused to let Annie get the best of me. I was determined to prove my worth and show her that I was just as capable as she was, despite my background.

My stepmother and step-siblings were the epitome of royalty. Their features were regal and refined, and their manners were polished and graceful. Their bloodline could be traced back to ancient dynasties, and they carried themselves with the confidence and dignity of those who were born to rule.

Their royal blood was a source of pride and power, and it gave them a sense of superiority over those with "lesser" blood. Eva's father was no exception. He saw in them the embodiment of all that was noble and grand, and he prized them above all else.

Their every move was scrutinized and celebrated, and their every word was treated as gospel. They were the shining stars of their world, and their royal blood was the reason for their success and power.

Their royal blood was a constant source of pain and frustration. She felt like an outsider in her own family, always reminded of her "lesser" blood and inferior status. Despite her best efforts, I could never live up to the standards set by her stepmother and step-siblings.

I braced myself for the worst as Annie began to bad-mouth me. She insulted my skills and abilities as a fighter, making fun of the fact that I was still in training.

Her words stung, but I refused to let her get the best of me. I stood my ground, my fists clenched at my sides as she continued to taunt me.

Finally, Annie issued a challenge. "I challenge you to a duel," she said, her voice laced with contempt.

My heart skipped a beat as I considered the implications of her challenge. Annie was the daughter of a royal blood, and as such, she had certain privileges and advantages that I did not.

But I refused to back down. I knew that I had to defend myself and prove my worth as a fighter.

"Fine," I said, my voice steady and firm. "I accept your challenge."

Annie's smirk widened as she motioned for her friends to clear the area. We moved to the center of the training grounds, where a circle had been drawn in the dirt.

As we prepared to face off, I took a deep breath and tried to focus my mind. I knew that I had to stay calm and alert if I was going to have any chance of winning.

Annie began to circle me, her movements fluid and graceful. I watched her closely, waiting for an opening.

Finally, she made her move. She lunged at me, her blade flashing in the sunlight.

I dodged to the side, narrowly avoiding her strike. I countered with a quick jab, but Annie was too quick for me. She parried my blow and launched a counterattack.

The fight went back and forth, each of us trading blows and trying to gain the upper hand. Annie was a skilled fighter, but I was determined to prove myself.

I dropped into a fighting position and began to throw my hands around. After a few missed hits, Annie hand swung and her hand landed on my shoulders. I stepped back and raised my two hands. Her punches rained down on me and Andi reddened.

"I want to punch your face bitch!" she said as she punched my stomach but I didn't bring down my hands.

Damn it she howled as she swung her hands again this time we extended her nails and my knuckles were torn. Blood dripped out and her friends roared in laughter. I couldn't brake it anymore so I charged at her and she dodged me. I tripped and fell head over heels. My face was open for her to punch me there was no hit.

I sat up from the ground and all was silent all of a sudden. I looked around the training center, I could feel everyone's eyes darting to a young man. I tried to stand up and held my jaw with my bleeding hands.

I suddenly became heated up. I tried to compose myself and focus, but the heat within me was becoming too much to bear. I could feel my skin flushing and my breath quickening. I knew I had to do something before I lost control.

My heart was racing, and I felt a lump in my throat.

I felt hurt and devastated. I really should stop putting my hopes up over every little thing.

I looked into the eyes of the Lycan king as I stood properly. Everywhere was silent and my heart raced with anticipation. He was an imposing figure, standing tall and proud, his muscular frame filling the room with his presence. All eyes were on him as he strode towards us, and the ladies stopped giggling and cheering, mesmerized by his raw power and undeniable.
