Nicole after many failed relationships decided to give up instead of giving in to another shot, she decided to travel to Paris where no one knows her but she never knew that love could also be waiting for her in Paris.

Chapter 1 Billows

What seemed like a normal day was fast tuning into a disaster before noon, every tick at time seemed to to send a negative signal and energy but that was just the beginning of fast approaching doom.

Nicole was seated just in front of her small apartment, a lone self contain at the side of the country, she had moved from Qatar a few months ago to Paris where she made a promise to be on her own, work and make money for herself. Her Qatar experience has not been the best because she lost herself in search of love, yet she moved to Paris " A Home Of Love".

The cold was the least of Nicole's problem because she was pumped with adrenaline, something that is like a fickle and would dry up, she knew emotion was the least thing she wanted, yet love never left her alone. Nicole was filled with thoughts about how she can handle her taking a toil in her today's life, she watched the tree branch in her garage swirls its tail and wings like a hen guiding its egg from the grips of danger beyond. She thought about his grip and how he swirls himself all over her and the slimy.... "ouch, I should stop" she reminded herself to not think about it, she shifted her focus to the SUV on the road, the driver must be drunk to have left the car in such a bad shape, ultimately Nicole should have been scared but she is at the place where even death cannot scare her.

The next mind adventure tickled her as she giggled confusedly to an awkward emotion, " am I going crazy?" She asked herself because the situation she found herself should not make her giggle, she has been sad for over 4 months and all of a sudden, she can giggle. She was still thinking of how to step out of the house in search of a new Job since she got relieved of her post as Personal Assistant to the CEO when she got a mail to vacate her residency, oh the mail must have been there for months but Nicole never checks her mail, it turns out that the SUV was not left across the road by any careless driver, it was her landlord who has been waiting for her to come back from work not knowing that she was at home all along. She got distressed but not doe long, because her load was not much and can easily enter one SUV, she crawled into her room still giggling at the two events that was happening to her job and losing her home. She reached out to her phone and scrolled down to call David the CEO of her firm but she quickly remembered that she lost all her benefit this morning after David fired her for not having a hot romantic sex with him. David employed her in the first place because she was hot, a young beautiful queen, he would always call her but his intention was beyond her intellectual prowess but that which is in between her thighs. He had taken her for private meetings in many occasions and insisted they stay in same room, at night he would start frisking his hands around her boobs, " such a pervert " Nicole would conclude. He fired her after he walked into her office and shut the door, then asked her to come and help him pick some things from the drawer, and when Nicole did, he quickly grabbed her waist and started rubbing it, Nicole felt irritated not because David was ugly but because David is a married man with two kids. She pulled away from him but David was determined to have her that morning, he approached her again and held her head across the table before trying to loosen her belt, then Nicole had a flash back of what her step father did to her at younger age and quickly grabbed a mug beside the table and hit David in his head, then a little drop of blood to splashes of blood. When David realized himself, he called her an expensive slut and fired her, he made sure that in her line of work, she may never get a good job because of the kind of review he wrote about her. He had written that she is a home wrecker who wants to force herself on him, the whole staff of the firm believed David who was the CEO because he sounded like a victim. On the other side of it, Nicole was speechless and showed no emotion rather she packed her and left.

Well, she tried to access her fund from the company that just relieved her of her duty, but she realized that the funds had been blocked, turned out that David lied to her wife who happens to be a co founder of the organization and she blocked Nicole from accessing her funds. Nicole was left with nothing except her savings which cannot get her a house for long and still be able to feed her till then.

She took a deep breath and called her landlord who was sitting outside her house on his SUV, and decided to renegotiate her expired rent but the man was determined for her to move out. Well, I won't blame the man, he sent me a notice two months ago and I didn't respond, so he cam do anything legal to me, Nicole thought. She contacted some agents and set out to find a new house but her target was still the same, it must be a house standing alone without neighbors and it must be out of town or a place far from public nuisance. She looked at the bricks on the wall, something she fancies a lot because each time one is taking a toil on her body, she would look at the bricks and smile down. Nicole hated for love was not something that has been there rather it was developed after the incident of her last relationship.

I was at my own engagement party at the Sterling estate when the world started tilting. Victoria Sterling, my future mother-in-law, smiled coldly as she watched me struggle with a cup of tea that had been drugged to ruin me. Before I could find my fiancé, Ryan, a waiter dragged me into the forbidden West Wing and locked me in a room with Julian Sterling, the family’s "fallen titan" who had been confined to a wheelchair for years. The door burst open to a frenzy of camera flashes and theatrical screams. Victoria framed me as a seductress caught in the act, and Ryan didn't even try to listen to my pleas, calling me "cheap leftovers" before walking away with his pregnant mistress. When I turned to my own family for help, my father signed a document severing our relationship for a five-million-dollar payout from Julian. They traded me like a commodity without a second thought. I didn't understand why my own parents were so eager to sell me, or how Ryan could look at me with such disgust after promising me forever. I was a sacrifice, a pawn used to protect the family's offshore accounts, and I couldn't fathom how every person I loved had a price tag for my destruction. With nowhere left to go, I married Julian in a bleak ceremony at City Hall. He slid a heavy diamond onto my finger and whispered, "We have a war to start." That night, inside his secret penthouse, I watched the paralyzed man stand up from his wheelchair and activate a screen filled with the Sterling family's darkest secrets. The execution had officially begun.

The sterile white of the operating room blurred, then sharpened, as Skye Sterling felt the cold clawing its way up her body. The heart monitor flatlined, a steady, high-pitched whine announcing her end. Her uterus had been removed, a desperate attempt to stop the bleeding, but the blood wouldn't clot. It just kept flowing, warm and sticky, pooling beneath her. Through heavy eyes, she saw a trembling nurse holding a phone on speaker. "Mr. Kensington," the nurse's voice cracked, "your wife... she's critical." A pause, then a sweet, poisonous giggle. Seraphina Miller. "Liam is in the shower," Seraphina's voice purred. "Stop calling, Skye. It's pathetic. Faking a medical emergency on our anniversary? Even for you, that's low." Then, Liam's bored voice: "If she dies, call the funeral home. I have a meeting in the morning." Click. The line went dead. A second later, so did Skye. The darkness that followed was absolute, suffocating, a black ocean crushing her lungs. She screamed into the void, a silent, agonizing wail of regret for loving a man who saw her as a nuisance, for dying without ever truly living. Until she died, she didn't understand. Why was her life so tragically wasted? Why did her husband, the man she loved, abandon her so cruelly? The injustice of it all burned hotter than the fever in her body. Then, the air rushed back in. Skye gasped, her body convulsing violently on the mattress. Her eyes flew open, wide and terrified, staring blindly into the darkness. Her trembling hand reached for her phone. May 12th. Five years ago. She was back.

Rain hammered against the asphalt as my sedan spun violently into the guardrail on the I-95. Blood trickled down my temple, stinging my eyes, while the rhythmic slap of the windshield wipers mocked my panic. Trembling, I dialed my husband, Clive. His executive assistant answered instead, his voice professional and utterly cold. "Mr. Wilson says to stop the theatrics. He said, and I quote, 'Hang up. Tell her I don’t have time for her emotional blackmail tonight.'" The line went dead while I was still trapped in the wreckage. At the hospital, I watched the news footage of Clive wrapping his jacket around his "fragile" ex-girlfriend, Angelena, shielding her from the storm I was currently bleeding in. When I returned to our penthouse, I found a prenatal ultrasound in his suit pocket, dated the day he claimed to be on a business trip. Instead of an apology, Clive met me with a sneer. He told me I was nothing but an "expensive decoration" his father bought to make him look stable. He froze my bank accounts and cut off my cards, waiting for the hunger to drive me back to his feet. I stared at the man I had loved for four years, realizing he didn't just want a wife; he wanted a prop he could switch off. He thought he could starve me into submission while he played father to another woman's child. But Clive forgot one thing. Before I was his trophy wife, I was Starfall—the legendary voice actress who vanished at the height of her fame. "I'm not jealous, Clive. I'm done." I grabbed my old microphone and walked out. I’m not just leaving him; I’m taking the lead role in the biggest saga in Hollywood—the one Angelena is desperate for. This time, the "decoration" is going to burn his world down.

I was once the heiress to the Solomon empire, but after it crumbled, I became the "charity case" ward of the wealthy Hyde family. For years, I lived in their shadows, clinging to the promise that Anson Hyde would always be my protector. That promise shattered when Anson walked into the ballroom with Claudine Chapman on his arm. Claudine was the girl who had spent years making my life a living hell, and now Anson was announcing their engagement to the world. The humiliation was instant. Guests sneered at my cheap dress, and a waiter intentionally sloshed champagne over me, knowing I was a nobody. Anson didn't even look my way; he was too busy whispering possessively to his new fiancée. I was a ghost in my own home, watching my protector celebrate with my tormentor. The betrayal burned. I realized I wasn't a ward; I was a pawn Anson had kept on a shelf until he found a better trade. I had no money, no allies, and a legal trust fund that Anson controlled with a flick of his wrist. Fleeing to the library, I stumbled into Dallas Koch—a titan of industry and my best friend’s father. He was a wall of cold, absolute power that even the Hydes feared. "Marry me," I blurted out, desperate to find a shield Anson couldn't climb. Dallas didn't laugh. He pulled out a marriage agreement and a heavy fountain pen. "Sign," he commanded, his voice a low rumble. "But if you walk out that door with me, you never go back." I signed my name, trading my life for the only man dangerous enough to keep me safe.
