Chapter 1 A Ruthless Man

It was late in the evening. On the balcony outside the second floor office, a girl standing about five feet four inches tall, fair complexion, delicately molded body, white long skirt worn with sky blue blouse, golden silky shoulder cut, her hair pinned back. She quickly turned around when she heard the sound of the intercom ringing from inside and picked up the intercom.

"Miss Jane. I'm Daryl," the voice of Daryl, in charge of the security guards, came out; a noise was heard from the background.

"Miss Jane, come quickly to the water park, there is an emergency," he said in a panicked tone.

"Relax Mr. Daryl. You take a deep breath and tell me what happened?" she replied in a professional manner.

"WELL! Ma'am, a guy is yelling at us all, saying something has happened to his daughter. I only know that the girl ran screaming into the ladies washroom and locked herself in. This is the ladies washroom, so you can come inside and check it. We cannot give permission for a man to visit there."

"Ok, I'm coming." She responds quickly. In the meantime, Daryl, try to calm down the crowd, in particular the father of this girl. She instructed him and rushed toward the elevator.

"Alright Ma'am." The guard had switched off the intercom. A few seconds later, she was out of the office and running across the ground rapidly.

Tickets for the largest and most expensive amusement park in Europe were sold weeks in advance. She was the Director of Guest Relations at this amusement park. Handling such emergency was also included in her responsibilities. She ran and signaled the guards standing at the front entrance of the park to open the door from a distance and enter.

It was Saturday afternoon; the whole park was full of children, old, young men and women.

A short distance across the park, over the driving cinema, through the musical street, and the artificial mountain area where the water park is situated, she was almost running inside, crossing the area where gift shops were, and entering the artificial mountain area.

"Excuse me! Make way." She walked past the crowd and reached outside of the ladies' room where a crowd was standing and Daryl, the security officer, was answering questions in front of them.

"Hey Daryl" She called out to him from behind and the tall, athletic looking man standing in front of Daryl turned to look at her.

"Thank you, Miss Jane." Daryl gasped.

"Is this the lady emergency rescue that we have been waiting for an hour?" The man said in a sarcastic manner. His voice was heavy and his tone was mocking.

She stepped forward and looked confidently into the steel gray eyes beneath the dark brown eyebrows of the handsome man.

"Hi, I am Tasha Jane, the director here...."

"I know off-guest relations." He pointed to the name tag on her shoulder and spoke in a restrained manner.

"Instead of wasting time, come into action now and do the work for which you have been called." His anger was clearly visible in his body language.

"Something has happened to my daughter. She is locked inside and I am wasting my time standing among the incompetents." He roared.

"Please calm down sir." Tasha spoke softly.

"Tell me what happened? If you lose control like this, you won't get help for yourself or your daughter." If the situation had not been so delicate, she should have told him right away that she was not one to tolerate an attitude for no reason.

After listening to her words, the man carefully looked at her from head to toe. He then bowed his head slightly and buried his steel gray eyes in Tasha's green eyes.

"We were standing in a long line for the roller coaster when suddenly my daughter's face turned white like she had seen a ghost and she ran out of the line and into the ladies room by herself. "She was locked, and I wanted to go inside after her, but this security guard stopped me." He said to her in detail.

"Is she still in?" After interrupting the man, she asked Daryl who was standing next to her, to which Daryl nodded his head.

"What is the name of the girl?" she asked seriously to the girl's father, whose frustration and anger had increased when she interrupted him.

"Her name?" he muttered. "For God's sake. My daughter is locked inside; I don't know what happened to her, what is her condition and instead of going straight inside and helping her, you are standing here in front of me asking her name." The tall man tried to calm himself, running his fingers through his thick dark brown hair.

"Her name is Eva! Damn it! Eva..."

"Thanks" She heard the girl's name, thanking him in a professional manner and heading towards the ladies' washrooms.

"Daryl, can you remove this crowd from here and contact the information desk to order a cart, and also inform the first aid center that I am going to bring a girl with me? Be prepared." She quickly gave Daryl instructions and stepped in. She didn't even look back to see if Daryl started listening or following her orders because she knew Daryl would do it all. The tall, broad-shouldered, steely-grey-eyed, attractive man's gaze seemed dull.

She entered a cold corridor with about ten washrooms in order in the ladies room. The attendant of the washroom saw her and quickly came forward and without asking her anything, she started speaking by herself.

"Miss Jane! A little girl ran in screaming, crying and locked herself in the last washroom. I shouted a lot and asked her to open the door but she didn't. She didn't answer nor did she open the door. A tall man entered quickly shouting that all the ladies here started making noise. They thought that he might be scaring the girl. Now these ladies are not letting him down and the girl is not coming out. I found it very difficult." As she gave her the whole report, she said, "All the ladies have been kicked out of here."

"Thanks Hazel! Now you can go outside and wait for me." She spoke softly.

"Yes Ma'am." Hazel nodded in agreement. After Hazel left, she walked to the washroom at the end.

"Eva? Are you okay?" Tasha gently put her hand on the door and asked, but she could not hear anything except sobs in response from inside.

"Eva! Please let me in. I want to help you. Outside, your father is also worried about you." Now the sound of sobs coming from inside was somewhat quieter.

"My name is Tasha Jane. You can tell me about your problem. You can tell me whatever happened." She stopped.

"I didn't tell anyone, not even your father." She was treating this girl with love.

"You...you didn't tell anyone?" A thin, very slow girl's voice emerged.

"No, if you don't want, I won't tell anyone." Tasha assured.

"I feel ashamed, but it hurts." After hearing the full voice of this girl, her curiosity had increased even more.

"What's hurting you?" When she asked, she heard the sound of a metal lock being opened. The door opened and a cute girl about eleven years old stood in front of her. She was wearing a neat skirt with matching blouse, expensive tennis shoes, dark brown hair tied in two ponytails with a ribbon. She had thick pink colored glasses on her eyes making her even cuter; her steel gray eyes full of tears were just like her father's.

"Oh God, why am I keeping the eyes of this proud man in my mind?" She shook her head and turned her attention to the girl standing in front of her.

"Hello Eva." She extended her hand and said she wanted to get this girl out of the washroom as soon as possible.

"Hey." That girl bowed her head and came out.

"Will you tell me what happened? Who hurt you?"

"It's here..." The girl was confused and put her tongue on her lips. "Here, a very big stinging bee bites me."

"Oh no!" She worriedly noticed that the bees in these areas were spider-sized and their sting was very dangerous.

"Were you afraid?"

"No..." Eva shook her head.

"I know no one dies from a bee sting, but..." She became silent as she spoke.

As she contemplated, she asked, "Where did it bite you?" She didn't rush away and upset her father.

"Oh." The girl's small mouth opened, and then shyly, she unbuttoned her blouse and pulled down her shirt.

The girl had two red swollen bee sting marks on her chest.

Of course, when this girl was stung by a bee in such a personal place, she did not have her mother with her. Instead, she had her father and obviously she could not ask her father for help in such a situation.

She felt very sorry for this girl. It was at such an age when girls were very embarrassed by the changes in their bodies.

"Come on." She held the girl's hand and took out a paper towel from the eye side box near the sink, wet it and placed it on the wound.

"By the way, how did that bee get inside your blouse?" She was talking to her and was cleaning her wound with cold water.

"There were a lot of balloons here. I liked the one with Barbie. I turned around to look at it closely. It fell into the bushes. It must have passed through my sleeves." Eva fell silent.

"Will Daddy be angry with me?" Her eyes were watering again. As soon as she threw away the wet towel, she cleaned her body with a dry paper towel and buttoned her blouse.

"I think your daddy will be relieved to know that it was just a bee sting, not a serious problem."

"Come on now, this wound doesn't hurt so much, so let's go out now so that your daddy won't worry anymore. These men can never understand how we girls fail at all these personal things. Can they understand?" She looked at her questioningly.

"No," Eva said shaking her head. Eva looked at the adorable baby doll-like girl standing in front of her. She liked her.

"My daddy doesn't understand anything; he thinks I'm still a baby," she said with a frown.

"Don't worry. Let's go out. I have ordered a golf cart to take you to the first aid office. Let's go, then I will put some ointment here, see if it will reduce your pain and irritation. After that we both drank Coke together." She was now lovingly persuading her to come out of the building.

"There will be many people outside." That girl was nervous.

"There is no one outside. The security guard has chased everyone away and I am with you." She gently embraced her and loved her, and then she agreed to go out holding her finger tightly.

As soon as she stepped out with Eva, Eva's father was standing in front of the door looking worried; he walked quickly in front of her.

I had been a wife for exactly six hours when I woke up to the sound of my husband’s heavy breathing. In the dim moonlight of our bridal suite, I watched Hardin, the man I had adored for years, intertwined with my sister Carissa on the chaise lounge. The betrayal didn't come with an apology. Hardin stood up, unashamed, and sneered at me. "You're awake? Get out, you frumpy mute." Carissa huddled under a throw, her fake tears already welling up as she played the victim. They didn't just want me gone; they wanted me erased to protect their reputations. When I refused to move, my world collapsed. My father didn't offer a shoulder to cry on; he threatened to have me committed to a mental asylum to save his business merger. "You're a disgrace," he bellowed, while the guards stood ready to drag me away. They had spent my life treating me like a stuttering, submissive pawn, and now they were done with me. I felt a blinding pain in my skull, a fracture that should have broken me. But instead of tears, something dormant and lethal flickered to life. The terrified girl who walked down the aisle earlier that day simply ceased to exist. In her place, a clinical system—the Valkyrie Protocol—booted up. My racing heart plummeted to a steady sixty beats per minute. I didn't scream. I stood up, my spine straightening for the first time in twenty years, and looked at Hardin with the detachment of a surgeon looking at a tumor. "Correction," I said, my voice stripped of its stutter. "You're in my light." By dawn, I had drained my father's accounts, vanished into a storm, and found a bleeding Crown Prince in a hidden safehouse. They thought they had broken a mute girl. They didn't realize they had just activated their own destruction.

I lay paralyzed on stiff white sheets, a prisoner in my own skin, listening to the rain lash against the window like nails on a coffin. My father, Elmore Franco, didn't even look at my face as he checked his clipboard. He just listened to the steady, monotonous beep of the heart monitor-the only thing proving I was still alive. Without a hint of remorse, he pulled a pen from his pocket and signed the Do Not Resuscitate order. My stepmother, Ophelia, stepped out from behind him, wearing my favorite pearl necklace and smelling of cloying perfume. She leaned close to my ear to whisper the truth that turned my blood to ice. "It was the tea, darling. Just like your mother. A slow, tasteless poison." She chuckled as she revealed that my fiancé, Bryce, had a two-year-old son with my sister, Daniela. My inheritance had been funding their secret life for years, and now that the money was secure, I was an inconvenience they were finally scrubbing away. As my father yanked the power cord from the wall, the beeping died, and the darkness swallowed me whole. I was being murdered by my own flesh and blood, used as a bank account until I was no longer needed. I died in that sterile room, drowning in the realization that every person I ever loved was a monster who had been waiting for me to take my last breath. Then, I gasped. I woke up in a luxury hotel suite surrounded by silk sheets, five years in the past-the very morning of my wedding. Next to me lay Basile Delgado, the "Wolf of Wall Street" and my family's most dangerous enemy. In my first life, I ran from this room in a panic and lost everything. This time, I looked at the man who would eventually destroy my father's empire and decided to join him. "I'm not leaving, Basile. Marry me. Right now. Today."
