"Echoes of Eclipsed Wealth"

Michael Walker's alarm blared, rudely jolting him awake from the clutches of sleep, while golden sunlight streamed through his bedroom window, casting a warm glow upon the scene. He groaned and stretched, trying to grasp the elusive fragments of a dream that were swiftly dissipating, like tendrils of mist vanishing beneath the caress of the morning sun. With a resigned sigh, he swung his legs over the edge of the bed, the cool wooden floor sending a gentle shiver up his spine as his toes made contact.

Rubbing the remnants of sleep from his eyes, he glanced at the clock, acknowledging that it was yet another day-a day that seemed destined to follow the same well-trodden routine, like the pages of a dog-eared book he had read far too many times.

Michael worked as a careful computer expert in a small tech company in the busy city. His job was making computer instructions and fixing problems. He liked how things fit together like a puzzle.

His clothes were simple: old jeans and a comfy shirt. He put on his shirt and jeans, and he felt ready for his work. He liked knowing what to expect every day.

His computer was like a magic tool, helping him create things on a screen. Before starting his work, he quickly ate a breakfast sandwich. This gave him the energy to start his day. He walked out of his house with a sandwich in hand, excited to do his work again.

His workplace is a few miles from his house so he took a cab to hasten up his movement and arrived at his usual time to his office gate. After a few knocks on the gate, the security greeted and opened the gate for him to pass through.

His co-workers, some deep in their own tasks, nodded and mumbled quiet hellos as he settled into his desk. The cubicles around him hummed with the sound of typing keyboards and hushed conversations. Michael appreciated the way he could blend in, a name among many, free from any need for special attention. The anonymity he had at the office was something he found comfort in. The spotlight was never his friend; he much preferred the shadows.
