Luna's Choice Chapter 1 Change

It could have been anyone at all why did it have to be Florencia Douglas? Why did it always have to be her? Every time she felt she had finally gotten close to Thomas, Florencia was always lurking somewhere, especially with Matilda Donovan, Thomas's mother, and the Luna of the evergreen pack

Maryanne sighed. She had left her wealth and her glorious family background to come and live and work with Thomas Donovan who had been her crush and obsession since her college days. Thomas was a bully and he was rude, yet she still managed to fall deeply in love with him. Thomas had never treated her nicely except he wanted her to teach Florencia something she was able to master about the computers in their company.

Maryanne was a true prodigy in computers, but she had somehow trained Florencia to become her rival in the same field of because of her obsession with Thomas. Maryanne was in deep pain as she sat on her bed. Reading the message that Thomas sent to her.

He had asked her to come and prepare Florencio for the presentation of the new software she, Maryanne, had made. She was more than furious. Today was the day that completed the two years she had asked her family for. They had kept their part of the deal and it was her turn to keep her part of the deal. She knew she was under strict instructions not to leave the house because of the last time she had insulted and almost fought Florencia, However, Thomas knew the kind of person she was so he sent his driver to go and pick her up.

She couldn't take it anymore. Sighing to herself, she began to pack her things into a big bag. All her clothes, shoes, bags, and everything else she had, the packed them into the bag Once she was done, she pulled the bag behind her and walked confidentially towards the gate. Two guards stood at the gate, guarding the gate. Maryanne exhaled sharply. She had hoped that old T would be the one at the gate. If he was the one, she could plead with him to allow her to leave

"Good morning" She greeted.

They stared at her ignoring her greeting but giving her their full attention.

"I need you to open the gate for me" She said again.

The two men stored at her as if she had gone nuts. Well, she didn't blame them. She heard them being given strict orders not to open the gate for her to leave except she was being driven by Thomas's driver.

"Can you at least call Old T so I can speak to him?" She asked softly. "Or do you also feel entertained by the way I'm being treated here? I hear the maids gossip about how stupid I am to leave my family and stay with a man who doesn't care a fickle about me. Don't you think leaving is worth it? You can simply say that the driver was the only one you opened the gate for. You can say whatever and no one would question you because it's what happened."

"If you feel too strongly about the punishment, you can run away as well." After all, this is not the pack house, Maryanne said. "Don't look so surprised, I have heard most of the conversations held in this house. I know that you all are a special type of people."

One looked at the other and he nodded and left. Maryanne prayed in her heart that old T would accept for her to leave.

"Maryanne," Old T called, "What is the matter? I see you with your bags, are you leaving? Thomas says he will send his driver here soon. We can't allow you to leave, at least not without letting Thomas know. I'm sorry!

Maryanne smirked at him Right then, the driver honked outside the gate. Old T shrugged and Maryanne kept her smirk on her face. The gate was opened and she walked out with her luggage, into the car. The driver was surprised to see her with a big bag behind her.

"Madam, we are going for a presentation, not a journey." The driver said

"Says who?" Maryanne smirked

The driver did not know how it happened out when he realized himself, Maryanne was gone. Shamefully, he drove back to the company, Thomas was waiting for him, impatiently in front of the company.

"Where have you bean, you fool?!" Thomas demanded restraining himself so that his voice would not be heard by the guests he had in the company.

"Sir... I can't explain what happened, sir. I found myself at the airport." He said. "I don't know what happened

"What do you mean by you just found yourself of the airport Thomas bellowed "Can you hear yourself, you idiot?!"

The driver shrunk back in fear. He prayed to his god for deliverance. Somehow, another car drove into the company and Matilda stepped out of the car.

"What's the matter, tommy?" Matilda asked. "I received Florencia's call. She said there was an emergency at the company. What happened and where is Maryanne?"

"I sent this fool to bring her and just listen to the crap he is telling me." Thomas screamed.

"Keep your damn voice down, Thomas Donovan!" Matilda ordered "Not a single sound out of your mouth

She turned to the shaking driver "What happened? Talk to me, tell me everything that happened from when you arrived at the house and mean everything."

The driver nodded shakily. "When arrived and honked, Maryanne was standing with Old T and Frank and Don, she was with a very big trunk box and wondered why she took it along she held this confident smile as thave never seen her carry.'

"When I asked her why she took the bag since we were only going to the company, she smirked and sold, says who? We aren't going to the company, we're going to the airport."

Matilda's face turned grim, "let me guess, you found yourself at the airport?"

"Exactly madam."

"Leave." She ordered and the man left hurriedly, thanking her as he ran away. Thomas glared at his retreating figure.

"Mom..."

"Just as feared." Matilda hummed. "The girl is one of our kind. She has a special ability too."

Six years ago, I was a naive girl sold by my father to the powerful Sanders estate, only to be tossed onto the streets after a brutal assault they labeled "marital infidelity." I fled the country pregnant and broken, hiding from the shadow of a husband I had never even met. Now, I’ve returned to New York with my triplets to sign the final divorce papers and disappear forever. But Archibald Sanders—the man I was told was a crippled recluse—intercepted us with the cold precision of a predator. He didn't see the woman his family destroyed; he saw a gold-digger who had shamed his name. His security team hunted us to a grimy motel, using tactical force to snatch my children away and drag me to his glass-walled empire. In his office, he loomed over me, demanding a DNA test and threatening to throw me in prison while my babies were lost to the foster system. He was convinced I’d cheated, yet he stared at my sons with a haunting confusion, unable to ignore the stormy blue eyes that were a perfect mirror of his own. I stood there, paralyzed by his scent—the sharp tang of rain and expensive leather that triggered the icy dread of my worst nightmares. How could he accuse me of betrayal when he felt exactly like the monster who had shattered my life in that dark hotel room? "I'll sign anything," I sobbed, "just give me my kids." But the game changed when my five-year-old son hacked the tower’s security, holding the skyscraper hostage to save me. In the chaos, a fragile, silent boy—Archibald’s secret son—wandered into the room and reached for me as if I were his missing soul. Archibald’s face turned to stone as he tore up the agreement and locked the doors. "Until I find out why my son is looking at you like that," he growled, "you aren't going anywhere."

I was once the heiress to the Solomon empire, but after it crumbled, I became the "charity case" ward of the wealthy Hyde family. For years, I lived in their shadows, clinging to the promise that Anson Hyde would always be my protector. That promise shattered when Anson walked into the ballroom with Claudine Chapman on his arm. Claudine was the girl who had spent years making my life a living hell, and now Anson was announcing their engagement to the world. The humiliation was instant. Guests sneered at my cheap dress, and a waiter intentionally sloshed champagne over me, knowing I was a nobody. Anson didn't even look my way; he was too busy whispering possessively to his new fiancée. I was a ghost in my own home, watching my protector celebrate with my tormentor. The betrayal burned. I realized I wasn't a ward; I was a pawn Anson had kept on a shelf until he found a better trade. I had no money, no allies, and a legal trust fund that Anson controlled with a flick of his wrist. Fleeing to the library, I stumbled into Dallas Koch—a titan of industry and my best friend’s father. He was a wall of cold, absolute power that even the Hydes feared. "Marry me," I blurted out, desperate to find a shield Anson couldn't climb. Dallas didn't laugh. He pulled out a marriage agreement and a heavy fountain pen. "Sign," he commanded, his voice a low rumble. "But if you walk out that door with me, you never go back." I signed my name, trading my life for the only man dangerous enough to keep me safe.

The heavy thud of the release stamp was the only goodbye I got from the warden after five years in federal prison. I stepped out into the blinding sun, expecting the same flash of paparazzi bulbs that had seen me dragged away in handcuffs, but there was only a single black limousine idling on the shoulder of the road. Inside sat my mother and sister, clutching champagne and looking at my frayed coat with pure disgust. They didn't offer a welcome home; instead, they tossed a thick legal document onto the table and told me I was dead to the city. "Gavin and I are getting engaged," my sister Mia sneered, flicking a credit card at me like I was a stray dog. "He doesn't need a convict ex-fiancée hanging around." Even after I saved their lives from an armed kidnapping attempt by ramming the attackers off the road, they rewarded me by leaving me stranded in the dirt. When I finally ran into Gavin, the man who had framed me, he pinned me against a wall and threatened to send me back to a cell if I ever dared to show my face at their wedding. They had stolen my biotech research, ruined my name, and let me rot for half a decade while they lived off my brilliance. They thought they had broken me, leaving me with nothing but an expired chapstick and a few old photos in a plastic bag. What they didn't know was that I had spent those five years becoming "Dr. X," a shadow consultant with five hundred million dollars in crypto and a secret that would bring the city to its knees. I wasn't just a victim anymore; I was a weapon, and I was pregnant with the heir they thought they had erased. I walked into the Melton estate and made an offer to the most powerful man in New York. "I'll save your grandfather's life," I told Horatio Melton, staring him down. "But the price is your last name. I'm taking back what's mine, and I'm starting with the man who thinks he's marrying my sister."

The rain in Detroit was slick with grime when my family finally came to fetch me. They didn't want a reunion; they wanted a sacrificial lamb to marry into the Kaufman empire to save their failing business. I thought I was just being sold off, but the limo ride ended under a dark overpass where six hired thugs were waiting with chains. My own sister had ordered them to "break my spirit" so I’d be a shaking, pathetic mess by the time I reached the altar. They called me "Detroit trash" and sprayed air freshener when I sat on their leather seats. My stepmother wanted a video of me begging for my life, and my father was ready to trade me like a used car to a man everyone called a "vegetable." They expected a submissive country girl, unaware that I was a high-level "cleaner" who could snap a radius bone before they could even scream. When I finally reached the Kaufman estate, I found my fiancé, Barron, slumped in a wheelchair, drooling and silent. But as soon as the doors closed, the "invalid" grabbed my wrist with a grip of iron and whispered a command that changed everything. I didn't understand why my own blood was so desperate to see me destroyed. What had I ever done to deserve a hit squad and a forced marriage to a man they thought was a corpse? But Barron isn't a vegetable, and I'm not a victim. We just touched down at the Moon family gala in a matte-black helicopter, and as the doors slide open, the "broken" bride is about to show them exactly what happens when you throw away the wrong daughter. "If we're going to crash a party," Barron whispered, his eyes burning with lethal clarity, "we should make an entrance."
