Alexia had just finished high school when everything turned sour with the passing of her father.Ever since his death, things were not the same as she found it hard to navigate life. Mrs Carter stormed up the staircase with each step louder than the previous step. The music became louder as she got closer to Alexia's room. "Stupid girl! How many times have I told you to take your rotten music somewhere else?" Mrs Carter yelled with frustration plastered on her face as she barged into Alexia's room. Alexia froze in fear with her hands still holding on tightly to her guitar.
"You useless child! I am done being nice to you.If this is the way you will learn to listen to me then so be it" Mrs Carter began to pack Alexia's musical instruments and speakers. She could barely carry them but her determination to punish Alexia was a force stronger than the weight of Alexia's musical instruments. "What...what do you think you are doing with my stuff?" Alexia asked, petrified at the thought of what her mother intended to do with her gadgets. "Since you won't let me have peace, I am destroying them. Let's see how you make your silly music in this house again" Mrs Carter's eyebrows furrowed as her voice echoed through the room. Alexia instinctively ran towards her mother to stop her from leaving with her instruments. "No please! Please you can't do this" She stood in front of her mother defiantly with tears trickling down her face. "How dare you try to stop me?" Mrs Carter scowled as her palm landed on Alexia's cheeks. Alexia staggered after being slapped but her legs were still firmly rooted to the ground with her hands preventing her mother from passing through the room door. Mrs Carter's patience waned drastically at Alexia's resilience. It made her blood boil so much that she began to continue to hit Alexia but harder this time. Alexia's face was red from the continuous hits from her mother. "You can hit me all you want but don't touch the things that are important to me. I won't let you" she said as she tried to stand up to her mother. "That's it! I have had enough. Pack your little instruments and every other thing you own in this house.I want you out!" Mrs Carter screamed as she stormed back into the living room. "Why do you keep treating me like this? If dad was still alive ..." Alexia's knees fell to the ground as she sobbed. "Don't even try to play your dad card ..stupid dreams like yours is exactly what killed him. I need you out before I return or else..." She slammed the door loudly. Alexia packed her things even though she had no idea where she would sleep for the night. She was hoping to beg her mother when things became calmer. Her little brother walked in upon hearing the argument. "Don't look at me with those sad eyes Jamie, it will only be harder for me. I promise everything will be fine...I'll ..I will be fine" She said as Jamie gave her a tight hug. Alexia didn't believe her own words but she needed to not make her little brother worried. She grabbed a handkerchief to wipe his tears "Be a strong boy okay? I will be back before you even realize.I am leaving you in charge for now so promise me you won't cry" He gave a slight nod as tears formed in his eyes. Alexia gave Jamie a slight tickle to cheer him up.Seeing him sad would only break her heart more. She succeeded in making him laugh, however temporary. It was important to her that the last thing she saw on her little brother's face was his smile. She wiped a tear and took a shuddering breath. After she said her goodbyes to her little brother, she dragged her belongings out of the house as she struggled to get to the nearest bus station. She thought of who to call because she had nowhere to go. More importantly she had no money. It wasn't safe for a twenty one year old girl to be wandering the streets of Los Santos. Alexia let out a sigh of frustration as she dialed Harper's number on her phone. "Hey hey" Harper answered. "Heyyy.." Alexia answered back in a gloomy tone. "Are you good?" Harper asked worriedly. "My mother kicked me out. Please can I stay at yours just for the night? I'd leave first thing tomorrow" "Again? What's her deal man? C'mon you know you can stay as long as you want. You didn't even need to ask" Harper assured her. "Thank you ..I just don't want to be a burden .." Alexia replied. She let out a sigh of relief. "Stop it. You are never a burden. Why did she even kick you out anyway?" "I was making some music and I guess it was too loud. You know how she hates my dream to become a singer..it made her really angry this time. She told me to leave since I wasn't gonna stop" Alexia explained. "But...but that's ridiculous. Is she even allowed to do that?" Harper exclaimed in anger. She couldn't understand why Mrs Carter could do such a thing to her daughter. "Her house, her rules. Talking about it is really hard right now. I just need to rest and think of what to do next" "Okay okay I understand..just come over. My mum is making beef stew. It would totally make you feel a lot better" Harper tried to console her. "Thanks girl. I owe you a lot" Alexia replied and ended the call. Her eyes were heavy with sorrow. A somber hue casted over the bus station as grey clouds filled the sky.As she rolled her suitcase down the road, she reminded herself of what her father used to say;after the storm comes the silence. She had always kept these words close to her heart in times of distraught. She put on some sunglasses to hide the beating on her face. The last thing she needed was more questions from passengers in the bus. With a heavy sigh,Alexia stepped towards the bus. Her thoughts were consumed by the trauma she had been through with her mother and the fact that she had to leave her little brother behind. Just as she was about to board the bus, a stranger's hand gently tapped on her shoulder causing her to startle. "Excuse me Miss?" Alexia heard a soft strange voice directly behind her back.
