My Two Step Brother

Chapter 1

SAPPHIRE POV

"Mom, where are we going?" I asked mom while she was busy packing things.

"We're leaving here, Sapphire. We have to go to Manila, you can study there too." Mom said.

"What? Mom, but...I don't want it there. I like it better here."

"Oh, all right." He stopped packing. "What do you plan to do while we're here? Look around and wait for your father to get up from the pit, so he can give us something to eat?" He shouted at me so I was quiet. "Get ready, someone will pick us up in a few minutes." Mom joined and went out.

I didn't do anything, I did what mom wanted. There was only one room in the house we rented. One room that has everything. Kitchen, bathroom, bed, everything you can see when you enter inside.

"You're done?" Mom asked when she got back inside. I nodded to him and took the suitcase.

"Mom, are you sure about this?" I asked again. We're on the road. And we only waited for a car.

He nodded and looked at me sadly. "This is the only way we can breathe in the hardships. I would like to change my mind, but...we can't live here son." I saw mom's tears fall.

I went to him and hugged him.

"I understand you, ma'am. So even if it's against my heart, I'm willing. No matter what decision you make, I won't object. I love you, ma'am." I said.

"Thank you, son. You are all I have. You are my strength..."

"Ma..."

Soon a fancy car arrived. In my whole life, this is the only way I can get used to it. Ever since I thought about it, it was hard and I had almost nothing to eat.

"Son, is there a problem?" Mom asked in the middle of the flight.

I shook my head and leaned on his shoulder. "Nothing... I just thought about what our life would be like in Manila. What is the difference between here in the province and there in Manila." I feel sad.

"You will know that too, because we are going there right now." Mama said while combing my hair with her hand. "Sleep first, son, we're still far away." Mama's joint.

I just gave him a nod and closed my eyes.

Mom's decision was sudden. He just got like this. He told me all his problems, but this problem he has right now is something I don't know.

"Wake up, son."

"Wake up, we're here in our new house." Mom said making me wide-eyed.

New house? I can't think of how. We don't have a house in the province, but here?

"M-ma.. h-how? H-how did we get this house? Only a rich person can have it, and I'm sure it's not us!" I said when we got inside.

Everything found inside will be loved. It seems that even if I touch one of those, I will lose a millionness.

"Well, now, it's yours." I turned to the speaker. And I saw a man in shape. Obviously rich, you can see the complexion.

"S-son, he's your uncle Herman." Mom said.

I don't know what mom is talking about.

I laughed. "Uncle? So, we have relatives here?" I approached Tito 'ko rau' and said his blessing. "Hi Tito, nice to meet you. My name is sapphire Soriano." I smile tongue.

"Nice name, hija. Herman de Guzman." Tito said. I wondered. De Guzman? It's not familiar to me. If he's mom's brother, that's my middle name, but.. Sanchez. Mom's last name is Sanchez. I suddenly took a step back when something came to my mind.

"D-de Guzman?" Tito was surprised at my sudden change in reaction. "Mom!" I looked at mom. "What's Yan like to you? Why can't I familiarize him with his last name if he's related to us?" I asked mom.

"Let me explain, son." He looked at Kay Herman 'as if' for a moment, at the same time the two men arrived who were going to look at him.

"They will be your step-brother hija." Suddenly, Tito said to the back. The faces of the two men got worse.

I turned to mom.

"I-means...he's the one you replaced with papa?" I said at the same time as a drop of tears fell from my eyes. "M-ma...why do I only know now?"

"Son..sorry..but, This is it. You know, right? You already know the reason." Mom said.

"See?" Our attention immediately turned to the man who spoke. He is getting closer to where we are. "There really is a gold digger dad! Why are they still in everything? There are many good things---"

"Hanz! Shut up."

I went. Not out of shame, but out of anger. It's only the first time but they are like this. What if mom and I stay here? It looks like they are just stepping on us

"Go study at Krystal University, hija. Tomorrow is tomorrow, Hanz will join you to enroll." Tito said while we ate.

I just nodded to him in response.

"But dad... I don't want to be with that." One of them said that I think it was Hanz.

"Hedrix, just you. You need to accompany your sister." Tito said.

"Dad--"

"There are no buts! You two go with Sapphire. Take care of her there, it's still her first time." Tito said.

I just ate silently while listening to their conversation.

After we finished eating, I immediately went to the sink and washed my hands.

"After you finish that, son. go to the sofa. We need to talk about something." Mom said.

"I'll wash the dishes first." I said simply. Tito looked up at him and smiled.

"You don't need to, hija. We have maids so they should do the work--"

"Hedrix!" Tito's tone was threatening. Before there was trouble, I spoke.

"Are you that desperate for wealth?" He suddenly asked. I have now wiped the table.

I didn't realize that my tears were already falling. I smeared it and shook my head.

"My mom is not like that!" I also shouted at him.

"Your mother is a slut?" he emphasized what he said. I was surprised when he fell down and blood came out of his mouth.

I covered my mouth when I saw that Tito was the one who did it.

"You have no respect! You should know what you should avoid, HANZ DE GUZMAN. You have nothing this month. If you don't treat Sapphire as your sister from now on, you won't get an allowance from her. Nothing. you're at the mall, you're not allowed to use a car, you're not allowed to go with your friends. All you have to do is go to school and go home!" Tito shouted angrily.

"This is all your fault! You spoil the appetite, do you know that? If you think about it, you're just trash, eh. It's our bad luck because instead of throwing away someone like you, it ended up with us." Said Hedrix while we were halfway through the flight.

As Uncle said yesterday, he was the one who took me to the called Krystal University. And Hedrix was still talking constantly with blame coming out of his mouth. Hanz didn't come in then, it looks like he was hit by a blow from Tito.

"Are you Listing?!" I was surprised by his cry.

"S-sorry, m-just worried." I replied.

"I don't care! I don't care if you think about something or what, all I want is, leave!" He shouted again as if my eardrums would be torn from the force.

"B-but, Uncle's said... come with me right?" I stuttered. He held the bridge of his pointed nose and looked at me in annoyance.

"Get out! Your getting into my nerves woman."

"But I haven't memorized the... the ins and outs of it."

"Find a way. You're probably not stupid. Tss!" He said and went down first.

Oh! I don't know how to open a door. I don't know if I will also come out from where he came out.

Knock! Knock!

I turned to the mirror. Hedrix is like a spewing flame. I saw his mouth opening but I couldn't hear it.

"I don't know how to open!" I screamed. He signaled something. But, I can't really hear it.

Until he opened it.

"Are you just there? You don't plan to go out?" He asked angrily.

I shook my head. "I-I don't know how to open." I said making him shake his head.

"Shh, what a provincial girl!" He said and started walking.

When we entered, I was very amazed. It's nice to see inside the school. And as soon as you enter, Welcome to Krystal Univertsity appears with very beautiful lettering. There are also trees lined up on the side that you can see are really well taken care of.

"Faster! Don't tell me you can't walk? Maybe you want me to carry you so we can get to the deans office?" His brow furrowed.

I almost walked just to follow his huge steps.

And finally...he stopped in the elegant room. DEAN'S OFFICE is posted. He entered there so I followed him.

He and Dean talked for a while.

"So you are?" Asked the somewhat elderly woman sitting on the swivel chair.

"Sapphire Sanches Soriano, yes." I answer here.

"Hija, sit here first." I sat in the seat he pointed to.

He asked me a few questions, then he gave me the paper that I felt was all I needed.

"Tomorrow, come straight here and just find joy, my secretary, so you can get your uniform and your section." He says.

There is a poster on his table that says EMILDA S. LAPAS. I said goodbye to him for a while. I immediately looked for Hedrix, but he was no longer in the room.

"It was just there earlier, eh!" I whispered.

I got out, but still nothing.

"Did you look for Hedrix De Guzman?" A woman approached. I nodded. "Here, he gave it." The woman said and handed her a piece of paper with money on it. "Take a taxi and say that's the place. That's the money, that's what you're supposed to give. That's right." It added before walking away.

"Wait a minute!" I shouted but he didn't turn around.

I thanked him for accompanying me to the deans office..but now, I don't know where the detours are to get out of this huge University.

"Where is the way to the gate?" I asked a woman. He taught something. When I got there, there was a twist again.

"Excuse me, where is the gate out of here?" I asked the group of women.

"Provincial?" One asked. I nodded and saw their laughter.

"How come? A provincial girl went to Krystal University? Oh, gross!"

"Shh, she doesn't fit here!"

"She's nothing but a provincial, but I think she's a bitchy plus...flirt. That's probably why it got in here."

Everyone murmured. Looks like I made a mistake in asking.

"Ehem..." Everyone stopped. I saw Hedrix approaching. "She's with me. Let's go?" I immediately nodded.

"Oh right? Isn't he a flirt? He flirted with Hendrix to get into the University!"

"Your right! It's flirty."

"Oh Gross."

I was even more inclined. embarrassing.

"'right? I told you, your not fit in our family. Especially at school. If I were you so you wouldn't be bullied, you better leave now." He said. "By the way, I guess you've received the paper with money. There's plenty of it, use it. That's all you need, money. Gotta go!" He added and left.
