Chapter 1 One

Leo walked down the aisle leading away from his company into a car, his many protection squad standing side by side to salute him as he passed by.

He got into the car and laid his head on the head rest with a sigh, he was tired, and needed sleep, he knew but resting wasn't an option for the past three days, there had been a lot to take care of.

The car drove to the Vance mansion and the door was opened by the driver with a bow. Leo got down, pride within him as he walked into his mansion, his solely owned mansion. He was a proud man, an arrogant one at that but he knew he had the right to be; he worked day and night to have all he had and it didn't matter to him, the dreadful things he had to get involved in to make his money.

He was on his way to his home office to have a look at some things before finally taking a rest tonight when his assistant hurried to meet up with him.

"Sir?" She called but didn't get any response so she hurried to him. She couldn't meet up as he had already entered his office so she had to stop behind the door and take a deep breath before facing him.

She knocked thrice and opened the door, fear taking over her again as always whenever she has to be alone with him, he was a scary man.

"Uhm, Sir I..." She paused when his eyes fell on her. She didn't like the way he was looking at her, she has never liked it but she wasn't quiting her job because her pay was huge.

"Come here." His order was simple and it had to be obeyed. She went closer to his office desk, now standing opposite to where he sat but she saw a malicious smile edge his lips.

"You look pretty today, unlike other days." She heard him and didn't know if to say thanks so she just smiled and decided to go on.

"Sir, Damian was here some minutes ago, he just left." She talked fast so she wasn't interrupted by him again.

Leo's smile left him, he knew that whatever made Damian, his head of security come by to see him rather than placing a call, was serious.

"Get out," he told her, his mood had been tampered but his assistant still had important information.

"He asked me not to call you to inform you of his presence, he says that's not safe and he asked me to give this to you." She took out a folded sheet and held it out in front of her boss with her hands a little shaky, she had worked with this man for year but was still scared of him.

"Leave." Leo took the sheet from her and watched her almost leave before he stopped her.

"Get me a woman to spend the night with." He gave her an assignment and she just nodded before leaving.

When his assistant was gone he opened the sheet and saw just Six words of information;

'Omar Troja is in City N.'

"Omar," Leo said the name out loud and chuckled afterwards. He knew who Omar was, they both attended the military together but one chose to work for the government while the other chose to make money, no matter what it caused.

He smiled. He had to be more careful now that Omar was appointed to come after him, he knew how smart Omar was but he was smarter.

Omar walked into a room and all the agents present stood on their feet with respect, he was of a higher rank and earned their salutation.

"You all look efficient, glad to be working with this team." He smiled at them and made them ease their salutary pose.

"Sir, this is the man we've been trying to catch but it has been quite impossible and that is why you were requested to City N." One of the agents walked to him with a file.

"I know who I came for, and trust me I know how to get him." Omar smiled confidently.

Late night,

Vance mansion.

Leo was finally done with all he had to at the office. He could finally get some deserved rest. He stood to leave but heard a knock. It was his assistant.

"Sir, I did like you asked. She is exactly what you like and will be waiting in your bedroom."

"Mmmn." He nodded and saw her about to leave but held her back.

"What do you think of having a threesome?" He asked her and saw her face turn red. He snorted and let go of her.

"I'm just joking, you can leave." He told her to ease her and heard her sigh in relief. His assistant just nodded and hurried to leave, she knew very much that what he just said didn't sound like a joke.

When he got to his bedroom, he got in and closed the door behind him, taking off his shirt with immediacy, his body wanted a cold shower. He tugged on his belt buckle and heard a heavy breathing from the corner so he turned on the lights.

His eyes fell on a pure beauty. She was seated at the edge of the wide king sized bed, with her hands on her exposed thigh. She looked innocent, his exact type of girl to fuck but unless she wasn't innocent as she looked.

He walked to her and picked her jaw tightly with his left hand and heard her gasp. He raised her face from looking at the floor to him. Just as her body look beautiful, her face was. A dangerous chuckle left his lips. She was in trouble.

"What's your name?" He asked her.

"I'm not supposed to say. I'm just here to satisfy you, do with me whatever you please." He heard her voice, and he thought it would sound better moaning to his thrusts.

He put his fingers behind her hair and unclipped her full hair. Fear gripped her, did he notice. He did. Leo knew the hair clip was a device and that he was being listened to by someone else other than her.

He took the pin to the glass of water by the bedside table and dropped it in. Mae swallowed, she now knew he knew.

"Don't let me ask again, what is your name?"

I watched my husband sign the papers that would end our marriage while he was busy texting the woman he actually loved. He didn't even glance at the header. He just scribbled the sharp, jagged signature that had signed death warrants for half of New York, tossed the file onto the passenger seat, and tapped his screen again. "Done," he said, his voice devoid of emotion. That was Dante Moretti. The Underboss. A man who could smell a lie from a mile away but couldn't see that his wife had just handed him an annulment decree disguised beneath a stack of mundane logistics reports. For three years, I scrubbed his blood out of his shirts. I saved his family's alliance when his ex, Sofia, ran off with a civilian. In return, he treated me like furniture. He left me in the rain to save Sofia from a broken nail. He left me alone on my birthday to drink champagne on a yacht with her. He even handed me a glass of whiskey—her favorite drink—forgetting that I despised the taste. I was merely a placeholder. A ghost in my own home. So, I stopped waiting. I burned our wedding portrait in the fireplace, left my platinum ring in the ashes, and boarded a one-way flight to San Francisco. I thought I was finally free. I thought I had escaped the cage. But I underestimated Dante. When he finally opened that file weeks later and realized he had signed away his wife without looking, the Reaper didn't accept defeat. He burned down the world to find me, obsessed with reclaiming the woman he had already thrown away.

I was finally brought back to the billionaire Vance estate after years in the grimy foster system, but the luxury Lincoln felt more like a funeral procession. My biological family didn't welcome me with open arms; they looked at me like a stain on a silk shirt. They thought I was a "defective" mute with cognitive delays, a spare part to be traded away. Within hours of my arrival, my father decided to sell me to Julian Thorne, a bitter, paralyzed heir, just to secure a corporate merger. My sister Tiffany treated me like trash, whispering for me to "go back to the gutter" before pouring red wine over my dress in front of Manhattan's elite. When a drunk cousin tried to lay hands on me at the engagement gala, my grandmother didn't protect me-she raised her silver-topped cane to strike my face for "embarrassing the family." They called me a sacrificial lamb, laughing as they signed the prenuptial agreement that stripped me of my freedom. They had no idea I was E-11, the underground hacker-artist the world was obsessed with, or that I had already breached their private servers. I found the hidden medical records-blood types A, A, and B-a biological impossibility that proved my "parents" were harboring a scandal that could ruin them. Why bring me back just to discard me again? And why was Julian Thorne, the man supposedly bound to a wheelchair, secretly running miles at dawn on his private estate? Standing in the middle of the ballroom, I didn't plead for mercy. I used a text-to-speech app to broadcast a cold, synthetic threat: "I have the records, Richard. Do you want me to explain genetics to the press, or should we leave quietly?" With the "paralyzed" billionaire as my unexpected accomplice, I walked out of the Vance house and into a much more dangerous game.
